In this episode I feel like Shane was actually kinda sad/disappointed that he couldn't fully believe in it, and I call that character development

When Ryan asked the spirit in the house, "is there anything you want to say to the giant?" (Referencing Shane), that's when they picked up a distinct whimper of what sounded like fear. Zach (the man who murdered his girlfriend in that house), was 6'8". I think about that moment in this episode a lot.

"You should come in backwards," Shane: "why?" "Well REALLY you should come in dancing," Shane: "Well in that case!"

Ryan: *sitting on the floor scared to death, explaining his child fears. Shane: I took an improv comedy class once.

I knew I recognized that house right away! I've read that there was a voodoo shop and that the owner was organizing some really distasteful tours to Zach and Addie's apartment. A tragic, painful story. Should not be sensationalized. As shouldn't be voodoo itself. Alas, here we are.

As someone who's lived in Southern Louisiana for more than 90% of their life, it kills me that they label what is clearly an owl as a whimper.

The whimper they hear after Ryan asks "Is there anything you would like to say to the giant man?" makes me think Addie was there. She was murdered in the home by an ex-military man named Zach, who was 6'8, and I think that's why she whimpered :(

13:48 i really relate with shane here. i'm also a skeptic (and i'm an atheist, all of that) but i really desperately want to believe in a higher power and supernatural things. i've tried *so hard* to make myself believe in so many things- from mainstream religions to pagan practices. its just... physically impossible for me to believe in anything but science, and it makes me sad. it feels like i'm missing out on something. not to mention that believing in religion/spiritual things most often involves an afterlife or *something* after death, which is a huge comfort. other people get that comfort and i don't. for me, death is... death. its a full stop. you just cease, but you don't even know you're ceased because you can't know because you don't exist anymore. at least other people can believe in a heaven where they see loved ones again. i don't think people realise how lucky they are to believe in something like that. people have a built-in comfort and support system and something to give them hope when they are struggling with something, but i don't get that. i also think spirituality is beautiful, there's something graceful about it. and i want to be a part of it. but no matter how hard i try, i just can't believe and it makes me sad. also, really appreciate mary having a therapy session with ryan. its really important to talk out anxieties and find the source to deal with them.

Now that I'm watching this again,I wish they would've sought out a black practitioner, someone who could really delve into the history and lineage of voodoo/hoodoo and its connections and such. Especially since technically it is a closed practice.

I WILL ADMIT... Shane is a VERY rare person when it comes to literally owning up to something if/when he was wrong. PLUS he never blames anyone else but himself, nor passes the 'buc' if it didn't go his way. (Which is extremely rare to find in a person. And not just in this episode, but all of them! He legit seems like a really good friend and human being! IF INDEED HE IS AN ACTUAL HUMAN BEING??)👽👽👽

Addy's death is one of the scariest I've heard as a True Crime lover. I haven't read much about it, and I wonder if Zach went crazy and lost his mind, assuming from the writings on the walls. In photos, Addy looked so happy so it must've been a shock and sudden to everyone.

I don't know if it's just a coincidence, but here in the Philippines, particularly in Visayas and possibly Mindanao, we have an urban legend called "Maria Labo". It is said that she was a woman who delved into witchcraft or voodoo and ate her children. The stories surrounding her were different and many, but this bit was what was consistent with every single one. Now that I hear "Marie Laveau", I believe they're the same person and the pronunciation of her name was changed or became different considering we have a certain accent here. I don't know if it's true or not, but it's certainly interesting .

Your voodoo queen you hung out with is a bit sensational in her practice in front of the camera. I believe in voodoo and many kinds of witchcraft as I am wiccan myself, but tbh comes off a bit like she's putting on a show. Like she's a tourist attraction that the people of the city are in on but visitors really believe.
