No one is being sued for libel regarding the article about Sean McDermott because it's all true. I _know_ people like that. They have several conflicting things rampaging through their minds & no capacity to sort them out, so they react. Reacting doesn't like thinking. When you are *really stressed* you'll seek comfort. The part of our brains that seeks this conflates *familiar things* as being the Only Comforts. So you will suddenly think about Old Friends you haven't called in forever, or watch an old TV show or movie. But not a new one. Comfort food = childhood memories. For a head NFL play-caller who can't escape the pressure in games, their reactive minds circle around their Most Familiar i.e. first plays they learned as if tethered to them & they can't break free. They also can't even look away & they're forced to Only Look At their simplest plays if they can't gain control over these reactions. The first plays they learned aren't ones that are complex or effective. The reactive mind wants them for comfort though. Like I said, I _know_ people like this. They want to be in charge because they think that makes them manly, but the instant they get to be, they start thinking about how making mistakes make them appear. The Loop Has Begun. This fear skewers them & they're already beyond being able to think or cope. As a result, the fear amps up: *ANYONE* else's voice feels like it's accusatory. So they can't listen to even helpful ones. Those sound like the doubts inside their heads. Even simple decisions become impossible for them. It can't have been the Final Decision of Anyone Else to flu to London less than 48 hours before a game, too short a time for them to acclimate to the time. So they played while sleep-deprived costing them the game & season-ending injuries to key players. How tf was _that_ a stressful decision? Because *he* had to _make_ it. It takes someone special to throw away a game in only 13 seconds. Sean McVay has just hired an assistant HC because he at least _realizes_ that he sometimes freezes in clutch situations. This is what McDermott, McCarthy & Shanahan (wait, are _ALL_ NFL coaches Irish?) need because they all do the same & they can't break tf *out* of the trance they get into in these times.
