The Mark family farm had been in operation for decades, but on November 1st, 1975, neighbors noticed that nobody was up working the fields. When it was discovered that the entire family had been murdered, there were no suspects until investigators looked outside of the state.

If someone had said to me 30+ years ago, that at age 57, I would spend my days and nights, eagerly awaiting the arrival of a quirky looking dude with excellent narration skills to tell me about brutal monsters and their acts of depravity, on essentially, a hand held TV, I probably would have belly laughed as I rather, rapidly increased the distance between them and I. And yet here I am. Happily hooked.

I live in Northern Indiana. You would be surprised how many farm families go through this kind of thing with the brothers. The one who works the land with their father gets the farm. And the other one who goes off to college doesn't get any of the farm and gets very angry about it. Happens a lot. But most of the time no one gets murdered. You have to be a cold-hearted SOB to do something like that.

I have seen so many families torn apart by inheritance. I vowed I would never leave money or an estate behind. I am in Ohio. My life has been such that I don't have any money. By the time I die, hopefully I will have enough for a cremation. That's really all I need. I think it is much better for your children to have to make their own way. They have a working understanding, that nothing in this life is free. I do often wish I had $ to help out the young people in my family now, that is often when they really need it. I have to ask you, how do you feel about the sibling who stays, getting the farm? This family had 4 farms, so I didn't really understand the problem. I honestly didn't want to believe Jerry killed his brother, they had been so close. How incredibly selfish, he is the one who held the family together. He took care of the mentally ill brother, and ill parents. Shocking to me, how he could fault the responsible, level headed one for being, well...responsible. And the 2 children, right?

There have been several suspicious deaths in my husband's family amongst land disputes. They're always ruled as suicides. How someone could die with a piece of heavy machinery on top of them, in the middle of a field, when it requires someone to be behind the controls to operate it, and the death gets ruled as a suicide, is beyond me. My husband's uncle wanted to leave my husband some property worth over 2 million dollars, his dad and grandparents told him absolutely not. They told him to tell his uncle that he didn't want it, thank you, but no thank you.

I broke my tailbone to the same degree by slipping on a rock at 8. I had the bulge sticking out the top of my buttcrack. My parents didn’t bother to take me to hospital or even a doctor cause “I was dramatic” was told my entire life I had such a “boney” butt. It was my tailbone sticking out at a 90 degree angle. It was agony. Last year at 29 years old I went down a slide and broke it again back into its original position. My parents refused to let me get help cause we were on an island holiday. I am now in absolute agony daily from my body trying to adjust to the new position. My hip is now completely out of the socket 🫠 Oh and when I showed my parents the X-ray scan proof? “Oh, well you seemed fine” I was hit anytime I cried or “complained” I learnt to live in agony. It is not a pleasant thing to live with let me tell you. Some parents shouldn’t be parents. Rest in peace to the lives cut short by someone they trusted. Thank you for always covering these stories in such depth and detail. You keep the memory of these people alive. You let their stories be known. You’re awesome man.

While flowers are so beautiful, the flower industry is seriously toxic for the environment. The florist industry has many environmental impacts, including: Chemicals The industry uses many agrochemicals, including synthetic pesticides, which can pollute air, soil, and water. Fresh cut flowers are also treated with synthetic pesticides, which can remain on bouquets and seep into drinking water supplies. Greenhouses Many flowers are grown in high-altitude, industrial-scale greenhouses, which are heated using non-renewable carbon sources. Greenhouses release large amounts of carbon dioxide, and transportation and storage processes also contribute to carbon dioxide output. Water use Flowers are thirsty plants, which contributes to high water use and chemical runoff. Transportation Most flowers in the United States travel between 1,500 to over 4,000 miles in refrigerated planes, boats, and trucks before they're sold at grocery stores across the country. Floral foam Floral foam is plastic, and contains the same amount of plastic as 10 plastic carrier bags.
