This is a good rescue system to know if you need to get down to your injured partner then you can continue down to the next anchor or to a better location for further rescue.

Hey Ryan, amazing video as always! Would it also be acceptable to rappel down the single strand using a GriGri?

Do you help those training for spi? In other words can folks pay for a guided day with you to go over spi test/materials? I live in western wa and hope to take spi course next year. Then test possibly next year or the next. Not in a huge rush.

Instead of redirecting the break strand on the anchor, would it be possible to clip yourself to the anchor using your rap extension, then untiying your figure 8 and clove and passing the ends through the rap rings, tie a knot at the end and pulling the rope all the way. That way you can retrieve the anchor. I've seen two guides do it this way, just wondering if retrieving the anchor would be a possibility. Your videos are very helpful thanks !

Ya you totally could pass your end of the rope through the chains to retrieve the anchor, I've personally never done it that way but that method is pretty awesome, and after you fully transfer the patients weight onto yourself you could get the anchor back. I'll have to experiment with it in the future, I'll see what works out and it'll probably be worth making a video about it! Thanks for watching!

What sort of course would one have to take to learn a more full curriculum of rescue techniques?

You can take a rock rescue course, many different outdoor companies/ organisations provide them. If you want to get into more advance rock rescue like dealing with multi pitch scenarios then the best place to go to would be a guide service. Many different services that offer a course on their website will list off everything they'll teach you, and if you want to add in a few more things that aren't included in the standard curriculum then usually they be able to accommodate that. Since rock rescue classes aren't the most common things for guide services to do, some services may not have a class listed on their website but if you call them and ask about them providing one then they'll easily be able to set up a class for you with one of their guides.

Hey, so I tried this, I weigh like a 110 pounds and the person I was rescuing weighed almost double my weight. When I start rappeling down to my partner, instead of me going down to him, I get pulled up and he starts getting lowered. Do you have any tips on what I can do in this situation?

In a multi pitch situation, what do you do if there are more rap stations to do before reaching the ground?Miore counterbalance rappels?
@ryantilley9063
@ryantilley9063 5 жыл бұрын
There's actually a couple of different options that all depend on what route you're on. Usually if you only have one or two quick rappels before the ground you can just arrange another counter balance carry. If you have three or more full length rappels before the ground often it's best to arrange a tandem rappel, it also depends on the state that the state that the injured person is in. It's really worth taking a specific rock rescue class where you can discuss these matters in detail with a skilled and knowledgeable professional.
