I forgot to include this in the video, another sign that chinchillas are not getting along is I'd they spray urine at each other.

Ours like to play in a larger room together, but they've shown if not aggression then rough play. They do have cages that are directly next to each other and they are very aware of each other. They run around the cages together and often watch each other eat. When we first got the second chin, we would often swap cages with them for a few minutes. They each got the chance to run around and sniff everything. I think that helped them become friends even though not in the same cage. Our female is fairly aggressive compared to the boy. She has really calmed down since she discovered scritches. She used to painfully groom my hand. She's far more gentle now.

I loved this video! I've heard and seen people get SO UPSET when they find out you have a chin living on their own, like chins HAVE to have a cage-mate. It infuriates me, because some chinchillas just can't be housed with another. My oldest boy(he was 20 when he passed last year) had been on his own all his life and was a major cuddlebug and just THE loveliest, but he would not accept another male chinchilla anywhere close to him. I housed a mother/daughter trio where the sisters started to fight when the youngest became sexually mature, I successfully separated and reintroduced them. There's sadly only one chin left of that trio due to Malo, and this last one cannot ever live with another chin, as she is WAAAAYYYY to territorial and aggressive now whenever another chinchilla is close to her cage(she worked amazingly well with her sister and mum for 10 years). She'll be fine on her own, she might even start to become a nice chinchilla and a decent pet because she has to rely more on me for affection.

I only have one chinchilla at a time it works for me and my chinchillas i keep in big cage in living room that way they are interacting with us paris gets play time every night shes the tamest one iv had shes amazing only female iv had was always males i kept in past 💙

I have 7 girls and if they were all in the same room, they would kill each other.I have 3 cages, in one, there are two sisters, in another , there is a mother with two girls and in the third cage there are two girls made friends with the smooshing method.

Idk if you’ll see or answer this, but can a chinchilla be kept alone if you’re interacting with it daily? I keep seeing conflicting information on rather or not you need two chinchillas or not. I’ve seen some sources say you do and some say you don’t. I don’t know what to believe tbh. It seems to me if males tend to fight often with others, and females fight with the males, that maybe you can keep a male chinchilla alone as your main pet? But I don’t want to do that if it would be cruel to the animal. I was interested in a male anyway. I could have two cages for them but I guess I’m asking is it really necessary I have two or is one very spoiled male given lots of attention okay to have?

Do you think you could make a video about how life has been for your chinchilla after losing his eye. Also a video about suggestions as to how you rearranged his cage and any other helpful tips.

Omg ! I would have a major anxiety attack in this situation Especially if vet wasn’t available and infection after How do you stay calm and collected in this kind of situations? One of my guinea pigs has been making breathing sounds only during the night ( he is in my bedroom) but nothing during a day He is taking antibiotics and his lungs are clear according to the vet but I’m afraid it’s not a simple situation and something is going on I have lost 2 piggies after treatment failed due to problems that vets couldn’t exactly pin point what’s going on and now every time I notice something I get very worried and my anxiety goes wild Instead of enjoying my pets I feel like I constantly worry about potential health problems Do you have any recommendations how to stay sane?
