Because even though soldier boy traded blows and lasted a while in a 1 vs 1 against himelander compared to the others, he still would've eventually been killed if nit for the intervention of butcher. Granted if soldier boy didn't use his blast moments prior then he could have maybe beaten himelander with high difficulty considering how even though homelander flew at soldier boy with mach speed and traded all of those blows, he didn't leave a single scratch on soldier boy to begin with while homelander suffered a bruise and butcher had essentially internal bleeding. I think the only reason why homelander had that bruise was solely because of soldier boy giving him those constant left hooks if you watch the Homelander vs Soldier boy fight since that bruise is in fact in the same spot where soldier boy was constantly hitting him at

I feel sorry for both of them honestly. Both deal with constant stress, especially Ashly. If you think about it, Ashley treated Deep bad because she was always under someone's boot. Since Deep was screwing up a lot and was always chastised about it, Ashley felt confident that she could talk down on Deep because he was never really aggressive towards anyone. Especially since his career was on the line. But ever since homelander took over, despite Deep still screwing up and not doing his job properly, he was no longer under stress of losing his position as a member of the seven. And when he was encouraged by sister to stand up to himself, he realized where he stood up. Ashley is the one to be pitied the most here, despite her issues.
