CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Georgiana (Keira Knightley) takes a vacation to Bath in order to secretly meet up with Charles Grey (Dominic Cooper).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Director Saul Dibb takes the helm for this period drama adapted from Amanda Foreman's best-selling novel Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, documenting the romantic entanglements of Georgiana Cavendish (Keira Knightley), a beautiful and clever woman who becomes a celebrity of British high society when she marries the Duke of Devonshire (Ralph Fiennes) and becomes consort to one of the most powerful men in England. Beloved for her trend-setting fashion designs as well as her political activism, Georgiana's fire and wit make her a beloved figure everywhere but her own home, where her cold and distant husband's control over her is stifling, soon sending her into the arms of a another man -- an act that soon forces her to learn about the brutal difference in the rights afforded to 18th century men and women.

This scene was so perfect but I just can't get over the fact that she did not marry Grey she should have. And when her husband forced her onto the bed and she was yelling I about right barfed that is so horrible her and Grey were in love :( They should have wed when he came yelling for her I am so sad they had true love

every time when i see they are been together, feel like g can finally get away from her lousy and sexually abusive husband and have a comfort and warmness with her lover grey, she and grey are the perfect pair and they deserve to be together

I know this is many years too late, but I must make my piece :) In the 18th century it was more common for people to marry for status. However, marrying for love was becoming increasingly popular at least amongst the lower and middle classes. From what I read about the colonial North America, because they did not have what people of the time would consider an "aristocracy"; it was called the gentry class then and still is today (but much less). So marrying for love was possible, but amongst the nobility of Western Europe and much of the aristocratic world it was most often for status and wealth. Just thought I would share a bit of what I have studied for many years, and continue to do so today! It's quite fun!

Marriage has very rarely been anything but a contract to provide land or wealth. During the 19th century and the romantic period it became more accepted as a bond of love

yeah like marie antoinette, the last queen of france had an affair with axel von fersen because her husband king louis xvi was too boring and quiet for her, the royals and the nobles could have their own lover if they disliked their own spouse

@nennu1992 ... Yes, back then and even currently too. Prince Charles probably still has other women to this day, even though he married his most well known mistress. Prince William more than likely does too, not to mention other Royal Families. We already see how much of a mess Prince Albert of Monaco is. Just saying...
