In late summer/early fall, it was announced that BNSF would be replacing all 22 Semaphore signals along the Glorieta Subdivision. Hearing this I began venturing north to capture some of these signals during their final days of service. I, unfortunately, couldn’t go up as many times as I would’ve liked to have, but at least I managed to capture some sets I had yet to previously.
On November 18 and 19, replacement began and all 22 signals were confirmed gone right after. This brought an end to railroad history, as these 100-year-old signals were swapped out for newer technology.
As of this video, only 11 semaphores remain along the entire line, those being located between Colmor and Wagon Mound, New Mexico along the Raton Subdivision. Those too are slated to be replaced soon, so be sure you get them while you can!
A full compilation of Raton, Glorieta, and NMRX Albuquerque Subdivision semaphores will be up on the second channel in the near future (Glorieta Sub Productions).
