My son went to James River college and was an intern under the Lindell’s. So sad to say but this church is way off track, you do what you’re told to do and ask no questions. There are so much more but I’m not getting into all that. The Lindell’s have so much pride and power in Springfield Mo. I hope and pray the good Lord will soften their hearts.

You gentlemen did a good job of making Biblical points regarding the very wrong committed in Lindell’s Men’s Conference. Mark Driscoll seemed pretty humble and broken for the Church. Even people who don’t go to Church were appalled at this sword swallowing Circus act!! Mario Murillo is showing what REAL men of God must become, (humble and broken) in Jesus’ Holy Name-Amen!

Where is their relationship with Jesus, haven’t heard a word about Jesus. Pastor Lindell needs to draw closer to Jesus, pride is not of Jesus. They need a relationship with Jesus!!!

If Jesus isn't in it then it's going to fall flat if you're using his name. Lots of evidence of that. Keep praying.

The text conversation between Mark and John's son, should never have been aired publicly. We also don't know what conversations had previously taken place between Mark and John's son that prompted the texts. Mark said nothing in text that was out of line with the warning against the Jezebel spirit he was pointing out. Since the incident Mark has said nothing publicly regarding the situation.

Mark spoke privately he did not air it. John was wrong to publish private messages.

This is the most genuine response to the incident. We are divided from the world to bring the light of God to the world. And everyone that had something to say, are saying something about the two pastors. God is a respector of no man, He will use whom he deems fit for his command.

A few points: 1/ The question of the nature of the pole dancing performance has to be clearly addressed - in short, is Mark's accusation true, or is it not true? 2/ John's dishonesty regarding personal details about the performer needs addressed (the performer has since come out and disproved some of what John claimed about the performer in his accusations against Mark). 3/ John's claim that he is above criticism or questioning because he is 'anointed', needs to be addressed. 4/ Looking through a lens of what Mark believes to be true, in that John's behavior is inexcusable in exposing his congregation to what he did and then his behavior afterwards, why is it dishonest for Mark to try to 'depose' John, as it were? If Mark truly feels that John's teaching, behavior, and leadership were leading people astray, or is even dangerous, why would it be dishonest of him to try to have him removed from authority? Wouldn't that be his moral obligation? People can disagree with those judgments about John, and say Mark is wrong about those things, but it's disingenuous to claim Mark is being deceptive or dishonest in what he did. In Mark's own mind, if he believes these things about John and the performance to be true, it's his moral obligation to do something about it. I understand Mark is a contentious figure, and there are accusations against some of his questionable behavior in the past, and even recent past, but I think ad hominem attacks are unproductive, and the merits of what both John and Mark have said and done in this situation should be what is focused on. And with an objective look at everything that happened, I think Mark did nothing wrong, in any way.

The one thing I wish Mark had not done is text Johns son. If he did that and I believe he did. That's unnecessary, he would have been better off in my opinion not saying anything directly to the Lindells after they reconciled on stage. I would have preferred he make a public statement about his stance on the situation than go after the family. But my desire is the two of them privately talk and this drama doesn't continue to be public.

@@Genxpastor So that's more a question of methods, than an implication of dishonesty on Mark's part. I can accept people didn't like his method, of approaching John's son. I disagree, I see it as basically 6 one way, half a dozen the other. There are definitely pros and cons both ways. Talking privately about it to them definitely has it's drawbacks too, particularly because John seems to be intensely resistant to being held accountable to any judgment on this at all. Just listen to his 'repentance' on this - what he repented for, was inviting Mark to the conference! He didn't repent on the performance at all. It would certainly be to his advantage, to keep this as private as possible, because in my opinion, the more eyes that get on this issue, the more people will see just how inappropriate it was to have that performer do what he did, and John would be held accountable. And John is incredibly sensitive to judgment about that, it seems. To the point he's calling himself 'anointed', and thus beyond reproach or criticism. Which is a crazy notion.

Sure mark was right with his spiritual assessment of the situation. But in my opinion he didn't need to start texting Johns son. It's just a matter of knowing when and who to speak to. Mark has a platform he should have just waited a few days and then put out a video.

@@Genxpastor Reasonable people can disagree on that, for sure. I think that's more than fair. I see the argument from both sides on that part of it. I'm glad you agree in Mark's read on the situation generally though. The performance was a real problem, and John's actions in defending it and everything else he's said just keeps getting worse. I'm deeply troubled by that side of it.

Pastors, thank your for a Biblical response to this sad situation. It is a call for us to live our directive to be Priests and Kings to God because of Jesus sacrifice. I need to be reminded of the awesome responsibility bestowed upon my life to live out His calling. I have been in the Pro Audio business for over 30 years and have installed sound systems in some of the most notable churches in this country. It breaks my heart to see tools used as an "attraction" to visit or decide to attend a given church. Despite my chosen profession, I hear Jesus' words to His disciples that He must be lifted up and He will draw all men unto himself. Of course, He was speaking of the cross but the thought remains that we preach Christ crucified and then He WILL draw all men. Forgotten message from many pulpits today. Thank you for serving faithfully and preaching Christ crucified!

John Lindell should be asked this, would you do this kind of act in your church if Jesus Christ was in the the crowd with all the others? Wether its a monster truck rally or sword swallower, people go to church to feed their sole and hear the word of God. NOT to be entertained by anything but the words of the Bible and great teachings. Mark Driscoll delivers the word and great teachings. Im not saying Mark is perfect, were all flawed but John Lindell is deliberately sending the wrong message with his choices of entertainment or words. John Lindell keeps focusing on the wrong things instead of moving on and continuing to preach the word of God.

God is not “all about reconciliation” ….God is about ALL the aspects of His Glory including pruning and rebuke and taking after giving ….John Lindell is incompetent as a “pastor” and not showing one aspect of Godly behavior or judgement or leadership or humility or even honesty about who the male stripper is or even being honest with his supposed “taking responsibility” and then blaming Driscoll some more ….Lindell should be fired plain and simple. God rejects in Beautiful Good just as well as He accepts in Beautiful Good. Lindell is the one hanging up on the supposed call of God to become a pastor. Disconnection accepted.

They are both emotional babies😮 It is NOT there ministry or their churches…they have both demonstrated the types of character flaws that 1 Tim 3 rules out as leaders😮 Their respective boards should pull Rivers for lying about the individual he hired as entertainment being a Christian or having a family etc. Driscoll did what he always does …showboating and one-upping his fellow pastors😮 Pathetically childish and extremely arrogant are not qualifications for leaders😮 How much more pastoral malpractice must their respective churches endure?

It’s not just a “goatish spirit”. John Lindell is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He is a pathological liar. His mask simply fell down… My husband and I ran afoul of him 27 years ago…he lied about is from the pulpit and inappropriately used Matthew 18 against us. We are STILL trying to recover from that mess.

Well that’s interesting… I made a comment earlier, but now it’s not there. I basically said that Lindell doesn’t have a goatish spirit… Rather he is actually a false teacher… a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He is an arrogant narcissist and pathological liar. My husband and I ran afoul of him nearly 30 years ago - in his early years at James River. We only attended there for two years, but much of that time was spent being informed after seeking help from him, and then when we found help elsewhere (through other Christian organizations/friendships/doctors, etc) we were bullied to a point of no return - He PURPOSELY LIED ABOUT US - FROM THE PULPIT - and incorrectly applied and executed Matthew 18 against us. Not dissimilar to what he did to Mark.

Why do these Pastors feel the need to to claim both had pride. Be balanced is a copout. By your own admission Mark Driscoll has said nothing to defame Lindell. He merely called out the bad spirit. Yet for some reason even though Lindell has acted completely inappropriately, you claim both were wrong. How?

I have never heard of you two pastors, but I too like what you have said. Every gathering should be about God. Anything else is in the "Soap Opera" camp. As God told Joshua when they were cleaning out the Promised Land and had never lost a man while battling the giants except for one little town called Aei. Joshua asked God why he lost so many men there, God said, "There is sin in your camp." We must be wary of disobeying God in any way. Nobody can tell me that God sanctioned the fleshly entertainment. He is a fun God, but sliding further down the hole to hell and offering titillating previews is not God's idea of fun. Somebody (nobody) went to God for His approval before booking the "acts." It was a farce and thus a fiasco. Mark was totally right in calling it out. It seems that he was the only one there who was listening. In agroup of 6000 men SOMEBODY should have been listening -- especially in a AOG gathering. I am SO disappointed in them all, as I am quite sure God is. He will be talking to each and every one of them, thanks to Mark putting a light on them. All of the prophets I have heard recently have said that He was going to separate the wheat from the chaff beginning with His own house! It has begun. People need to get off of the fence. Choose ye today whom you will serve!
