This is not an original thought, but I've lost track of where I read it. The idea was something like, "Gandalf never truly died until the closing pages of The Last Argument of Kings."

I overall quite enjoyed this trilogy. This discussion and Liene's insights from Abercrombie made it more interesting in hindsight. It is a very interesting experience where I feel kind of like Mara where the actual reading experience wasn't the best ever but in hindsight there is quite a bit that sticks with me and I think about.

Rebecca Ferguson is perfect for Best Served Cold. She is great in the Hugh Howey Wool adaptation on Apple+ called Silo. She's also executive producer. I trust her to work well with the author and I think Abercrombie also wrote the script they'll be using.

I've read of all of Joe Abercrombies' books set in this world and they are on par with Scott Lynch's, George RR Martin's, Patrick Rothfuss's and Brian Sanderson's and in some cases better. What are you waiting for ?

I've been sitting here and considering the casting for that very role. I'd want someone with the weathered physicality to be believable as a captain for hire; able to look put-together when mussed up; and relaxed enough to fit his dialog. My first idea was, "If only we still had Heath Ledger". But maybe... a beaten, unshaved look for Luke Evans? Feels like a more youthful choice than I wanted, but that's not so bad. I suppose it needn't be an established star, but in that case our fan-casting exercise wouldn't come up with him anyway.

'Unforgiven,' I believe. Although how anyone thinks that movie is terrible is beyond me.

Yes the movie is Unforgiven - there are some westerns I’ve liked (obvi not that one), like Tombstone (love it) and the newer 3: 10 to Yuma
