I love your story. Storytelling is one of the best teaching mechanisms because it reaches people on a personal level. My family is from the Dominican Republic and we came to NYC. I didn’t speak English when I started kindergarten so I had to learn English on top of being the one who was outcasted so i didn’t have genuine friends. Growing up in a single mother home, moving from hood to hood in Brooklyn, financial struggles were an understatement. Between doing bottle deposits for laundry money, shoplifting school supplies, amongst other things, poverty is one of my biggest traumas and is my motivator. We’re about the same age, Vincent. I want to be a millionaire by 30. Thank you for sharing your story. I completely relate to you when you said you were always in control even as a kid. I also had to do things like translate and figure things out for most people around me. I didn’t have much figuring out done for me. So I always had to make my own initiative, my own navigating, and my own discovering.

Your parents were like mine where they couldn't speak english, so I helped them with their rental properties business. Although I did not hussle, I had strong work ethics too and started work early. Also managed to have early internships throughout University. Just like you, I learned a lot of important money-making skills early on that I've been thankful for. By the way, although I wasn't made fun for my clothes, I didn't feel like I had fit in. My schools were predominantly caucasian, and the isolation actually motivated me to strive to be better at sports and athletic activities. This gave me confidence, and also deterred the attention of bullies.

Thanks Vincent for a great reminder video. Growing up in the same culture as yours, it brought memories. Vincent. Thanks for the courage to share your money story. Your willingness to be vulnerable on the internet shows the size of your heart and separates you from other finance KZfaqrs. With what you’ve accomplished at 24 despite the adversity and rejection there’s no limit on what you will accomplish in your life. I wish I knew half of what you know when I was at your age (I’m 38). I am continually impressed by your ability to draw us in with your thumbnails and titles and then keep us engaged through your story telling. Same here. Growing up and watched Mom bought items a little more when on sale benefits me now when I do the shopping. Saving a little here and there adds up over time. When items are half way remaining, I start looking at the weekly flyers for sales. Thus, I will never run out and staying away paying for full market prices. Money saved goes to investing to generate passive income for future purchases, at the expense of someone else. The mindset of the wealthy.

Awesome video. When you are truly driven, failure is what pushes it you more. Nowadays many people do not know what to truly be driven or what hardship is. Hardship makes you stronger, more driven. Most people have dreams, but they don't take action. And they become just that. Dreams. Dream, execute, succeed.

Thank you for sharing your story with us. At some point, you said you doubled the funds that you had. It would have been interesting to know more details about that. When I watch videos like this one, I am looking for clear, specific ways that the authors managed their money. So many presents the milestones, but don’t mention the details or the process. I understand that it is a highly personal and would probably make the video super long. Personal stories don’t apply to everyone, but it could offer an example, a case study which will still be valuable. Rather than watching videos that offer mostly the same advice I would prefer to see a video with the personal story of someone that gives a specific details about the process . I think videos like that could offer an added value here on the market.

When we learn the details, we often realize that whatever helped them wouldn't work for us for one reason or another. That's why they don't like being specific. Like, maybe he saved a few tens of thousands because he had a good job and was careful with his finances, but that wouldn't work if you have three kids.

It's all well and good to say take risks and don't be afraid to fail but when people don't know where to take risks or where to get started to even fail in the first place, advice like this falls flat. People who work 9/5 want to find more streams for income but don't have knowledge of where to even look in the first place.

Although I agree making money to become self reliant is a very worthwhile goal, I question this mindset of making money to become rich financially. First it's a million then 2, then 5, then 10... does it simply become a measuring stick of success or is it because one feels the more money he has the happier he will be?? Many studies have shown that having a lot of money simply doesn't equate to being happy. Now there is nothing wrong with being wealthy if you can handle it and keep your life in balance with family, friends, and community but unfortunately for most it becomes an all consuming endeavour until they lose perspective and their very sense of identity is tied to their wealth.
