This film project dives into the story of a prominent East Baltimore Community called Oldtown. It touches on how it began, why it triumphed and what led to its current decline.

I grew up in Highlandtown when we had community. That is a thing of the past. No one understands communication and unity, they are connected around the world and no longer talk to their neighbors. Now we live in collapsing neighbors while the city around us becomes a medical resort town for Johns Hopkins. Great work in showing how it used to be. Blessings!

Sure is a shame to see it like that.I grew up in Baltimore and seen it thrive and now to see it die, is just a crying shame.

I still live here...right up the street from Ole Town Mall. I, also know the people in this video. Baltimore, is SICK now. So sad, a place that was so beautiful...then fallen!

I enjoyed my times at Old town, Greenmount Ave, Monument St., Simon and Harris Sport Mart and Sammy's on Fayette St. back in the days. I had family that lived across from Lafayette Projects and by Monument st stores Mondawin was the top urban mall for me. Shopping faciliciities in East Baltimore lacked renovations over the years and never invested in the shopping areas.

Nice Video. Great Job !!! Anyway, I can remember when only 1/2 of the shops were still there. I'm from the county and use to always hear The "Shoe City" commercial on WEBB 1360am. in the 80's. So I just had to there and get a pair before school. Lol... GOD BLESS Baltimore !!!

It's a shame, but the only way that mall area will make a come back will be after they tear down the existing structure and bring a new Bel Air Market back.

There was two lootings after the 68' riot,1979 snow storm and when the Baltimore police went on strike,I forget what year, all this played a part in old Town Mall's demise.

I've never heard of this Baltimore neighborhood. I wish the filmmaker would've included a map with the neighborhood's boundaries highlighted so that I could get an idea of where it is located in Baltimore city.

I remember the late 60’s and throughout the 70’s there WAS community! Neighborhoods were already mixed ethnicities. There were block parties, school parties and more! Rock Church used to have Adopt A Block Parties in the worse neighborhoods with free food, clothing, books, toys, bikes and other free services to families and children. Of course there was preaching and sharing of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What happened to this movement? They built dunbar and a football field. Why not the area that brought the community together? Morgan state helped northwood plaza. Who can help bring back the mall?

You could blame the community itself. They brought this community down, trash everywhere, the abandoned buildings themselves could be just empty for years, but why make them worse by breaking in and vandalizing them? It's the community themselves who destroyed the area and now expects someone else to clean their mess up. It's actually laziness, self pitty, and blaming someone else for your own destruction. It's actually pretty pathetic.

Baltimore Md. is a Democrat state which helps its citizens. You should live in Florida which is a Republican state that don't help the poor or middle class . The city sucks, try moving further north .
