You must be about eight years old. This movie is a ridiculous steaming pile of shit. As a Mark Greaney fan, having read the entire series, they took his book and turned it into silly, mindless, cartoon with an arcade game soundtrack. Nexflix did the same thing with Clancy's "Without Remorse". This movie is a PG-13 clownshoe, debauchery of an otherwise well written, well developed gritty story.

@@wehrewulf well for one I ain’t read the books or nothing like that it was a fun ride action movie non stop fighting scenes I agree the story was abit in the middle it was kinda everywhere but if you watch the movie for what it is it’s an entertaining movie if you don’t look to much into it the ending was Kinda bs tho

@@wehrewulf You couldn't enjoy this movie because you took the multiple hours to READ this entire Mark Greaney series, lol. Whatever emotions you felt from sitting in our room with your face in pages and pages of text do not matter. Movie production is completely different from the words you read in a book. For people who want an action movie (about 80% of the 7 billion people on this planet) with non-stop, well choreographed, explosions everywhere, jumping out of cargo planes, and overall high quality content, this movie fills out all of the above. The storyline was coherent. ryan gosling and chris evans were fantastic in this movie, charming as always. and unfortunaely, whether you like it or not, this stuff is what the people want. So instead of ranting about a well-made movie, you should criticize society's preference in movies.

Lol, "nonstop action"? The hell? The big action scenes were like 1 minute I'm a falling airplane, 3 to 5 minutes in a small car/train chase and the final battle that lasted like 10 minutes of pure shooting and shooting... And the bad guy getting mad. That was it

They probably intend to make a sequel, which is why they give it a open ending. Don't forget that the old man who even Danny is scared of is not even introduce yet. Plus there is no way Six is gonna let someone like Danny and his partner lived and get away with it. Otherwise the girl will never able to live a normal life. But to see a sequel it all depend on if this movie is gonna makes them money or not.

Thanks for your honest and accurate review. I came to your page because I didn’t want to rewatch to figure out what I may have missed. This movie just fell a little short. The young lady could have been older and secretly trained. The unscrupulous agent(s) could have been double agents with different agendas. The Sierra program should have had a bigger backstory. Six should have had better international connections. There were plenty of ways this could have ended differently.

You disappointed me with your take on this slick and very polished film. The amount of talent used in small vignettes was great, and the film just flew by for me. i liked the way the back stories were plugged into the ongoing story, without feeling like it was plodding along. Gosling and his very attractive co-star from BLADE RUNNER 2049 had a nice on screen chemistry. She was no sloutch when it came to action as well. Seeing Evans playing someone other than Captain America was different, but he was so busy eating up the scenery in every shot that I got bored of him pretty quickly. In a different review i learned that the GREY MAN is based on a series of books and that the Director may already be planning for a couple of sequels. If so I'd be on board to watch. As long as the quality of the productions are maintained and the stories are intriguing. The one piece of the puzzle that wasn't explained fully to me was the title. In fact the opening scene touched on it, but didn't expand on it. The female contact says to Gosling, "Nice suit," he's in a red suit. To which he retorts, " You're no wallflower yourself, "she's wearing a white pants suit decorated in colorful flowers. A GRAY MAN in the parlance is a term used to describe the ability to blend in, and not be or do anything to draw attention to yourself. Obviously this is a wink and a nod to the audience that we are off the rails on that concept already. Anyways that's my take.

One big flaw is that they can simply track the girl's pacemaker again. I enjoyed the movie, but it was pretty average. There wasn't much we hadn't seen before, and other than six, the rest of the characters were pretty much throwaways. It need more character development to explain why the others were doing what they were doing. Lloyd's character was developed much better in Elysium, which had a similar bad guy.

The ending was not satisfying for sure. None of the bad guys got punished, evidence is destroyed, seems like everything Six had to go through was pointless, as well as the deaths of Cahill and Fitzroy. However, a sequel is coming, and I think Lloyd will be alive (he got shot in the chest, not like a fatal shot in the head or something), Six and Lloyd are brothers, so there is material to make an entertaining movie of, I think

Well, yes and no. There were many key scenes that followed Mark Greaney's novel (babysat Fitzroy's granddaughters -- the twin girls, the attempted assassination of Six on the airplane, being handcuffed to a park bench while being attacked by one of the teams of paramilitary, the trap door and his watery escape, a retired CIA supervisor that helped him escape, etc.). However, the Russo Bros decided to spice everything with unbelievable BS special effects, too many drone shots and one-liners, with absolutely nothing that would give the audience a real understanding of "Violator" and why he's the consummate killer with a conscience. Plus, Fitzroy's character doesn't die, and certainly didn't recruit him. As much as I love Ana de Armas, she was simply a made-up character and was never in the novel (but she did great). That whole first part of the movie just didn't happen, including Six killing Four (although Six certainly killed off several of his team, but for a totally different reason). Also, Six never killed his father (in another novel there is a poignant scene of Six watching over his estranged father when the CIA was questioning his dad trying to see if he knew where Six might be). And finally, no, the Gray Man wasn't captured at the end, nor did he have to save the child again, and he certainly didn't run away with her. All BS. I have no idea why the Russo Bros and the script writers decided to screw up the novel so badly, kill off key characters that weren't killed in the novel, and even added characters and scenes that weren't in the novel, but it just may be they don't know how to make a hard-hitting Bourne type of movie. Too bad, since there are currently 12 Gray Man novels (I've read 5 so far).

@@greysongreyhater7667 gone through all 10 grays by audiobook. Cannot find even pocketbook edition in bookstore in country. I hope when netflix comes with gray man sequels the story lines will be closer to the books. Too bad they fudge the first gray badly. It was a disappointment. Just my opinion.

@@bugsnapoles3635 I agree. It was a big disappointment from what could have been. But those that haven't read or listened to the novels won't realize that (fortunately). Many really enjoyed the movie, and I may have too if I didn't know how the directors screwed it up so badly. Still, the casting was solid, the locales were nice, and there were some solid, violent fight scenes ... I will give them that. Bugs, you have two more Gray Man audiobooks to go :). I purchased 10 paperback novels and am waiting for the price to come down on the last two (the last one released just recently).

The action was freaking great. The script, not so much. I don't mind a stupid script but really, the girl saving situation was super lame, and also.. can someone explain why all of those 10s of people coming to shoot him when he was handcuffed couldn't go up to him to shoot him? Why were they shooting the police and why was the police shooting them? This may have been a major plot that I missed, I watched it late last night. Why did he run away from CIA if he was safe, after Lloyd died? Furthermore, I will say that that goatee, has got to go! It looks terrible. The fighting was insane though!

People who give this movie a 10 out of 10 are either way too young or have never watched other action movies. Because this movie was basic as hell, even Red Notice could be more memorable

Great movie ruined by a mess of an ending. Not sure why movies these days have to always have some mysterious open ending where nothing is resolved. Would be nice to see a movie with some actual closure.

It was a really good standalone movie but they changed too much from the books. Wasn't impressed

it was a great action packed movie, characters were a bit cheesy, except gosling, ending was unexpectedly good, but dialogues and characters were a bit meh, and less mature.

Movie was standard Netflix low quality garbage where it feels like you're getting the idea of a good movie and a decent cast but everything was rushed with little consideration for quality. Who writes garbage like this and how do they get it picked up for production? Plot was stupid and made little sense especially from a consistency or logical perspective, "Six" could've been killed a dozen times over but noone bothers to because MacGuffin, character depth and believability of their relationships or decisions were all non-existent, overall a poor attempt to copy Bourne Identity but with a "Man on Fire" spin (introducing a "bond with teenage girl"), doing neither well in any way. If you like braindead action scenes this movie is for you, if you want good character development or plot then this movie is not for you.
