Christopher Jones If it helps you in your life, good for you, but for many it ends up detracting despite that intention. Do you actually end up doing those things as much as you would? Are your interactions as meaningful and high quality? And are you as present in the moment? Or do you end up scrolling through feeds and regretting it most of the time afterwards? And even while not actively using it are still distracted and still thinking about and checking your posts? The joke of people getting together to all look at their phones in the same room is accurate more often than not in certain age groups. If you don't end up doing those things instead of what's actually important to you that's good, but most people spend more time on social media and in ways they regret after than not, even the ones that might say otherwise in public. It's not surprising though since Facebook and KZfaq and pretty much all social media company's (and services like Netflix too) stock price and viability as a company is determined by the amount of time people use that company' product and if it's increasing or decreasing. In short, social media is by design meant to take up more and more of your time because that's how social media makes money (aside from data mining you) regardless of if it's actually improving your life or hurting it. Also living can be doing stuff alone as well, not just 'socializing' all the time. More time doing things with other people isn't necessarily better if they aren't people you really want to spend time with or you're not doing what you really want to do.

subwaysurfer Probably because they don't want all of their "friends" to think that Facebook is still a viable way to get in touch with them. That and they know that even after you "delete" your account you can always completely restore it to it's former state, because Facebook doesn't actually delete anything.

You can permanently delete it, they just make the option really hard to find and if you log back in within a month it's re-activated. I'd be surprised if they don't hold onto the data but once you go over the month your credentials no longer work to log in

unfortunately a few things can only be seen by logging so it's not that bad to login to catch up

So that you're not tempted to go back x3
