Michael Sungkar I didn’t say that. It’s a lot more complex than that, but generally speaking daily calorie restricted weight loss leads to muscle loss, yes (though you can work around it with “supplements”.) You’re much better off fasting for 48-72 hours which studies show protects muscles - particularly if one is in a ketogenic state upon entering the fasted state. It also causes a massive spike in growth hormone. Following that fast you can re-feed all your calories and then have a big training day. You’ll lose fat like crazy without losing any muscle. It’s the most muscle sparring way to lose weight.
@mikalmikul1
@mikalmikul1 4 жыл бұрын
@@adamspeaking373 oh Intermittent fasting. Yes I done it for 6 months, worked a treat only because I was in a deficit ofcourse. Definitely held onto more muscle mass during this cut though and carbs through the roof! Love refeed days. If you lost weight on IF, youre in a calorie restricted weight loss. When protein and calories are equated fat loss are actually the same...regardless of being in ketosis or having insulin spiked. Im not saying IF, or Keto dont work, they just work through a calorie deficit. So it only made sense when I did a surplus on IF and gained weight.

Just like layne then, very little evidence of anything except his opinion. Cast iron stuff right there. This is a nice little video that says a bunch of nothing and strawmans any of the things he doesnt agree with while leaving out the context of chronic issues relating to the health of tissues especially peripheral ones. Layne speaking to a diabetic person with long term inflammation would be hilarious and chock full of his own buzz word crap. The obsession with weight loss only says a lot about the mindset he holds and shows he is only interested in numbers on a page and not the health of a person he speaks to/about. Anyone who is sick long term, is inflamed all over their body and it's that way every day with some variation up or down. Speaking about long term inflammation while saying short term positive changes arent important is quite dense, it has to start somewhere 🤦‍♂️ why does it have to be a huge leap to zero for it to be beneficial? A steady change in the right direction is ideal, how else would the long term issue be resolved without starting now? Hes always do informative and not confusing at all, spoken from the position of health as usual.

Like WTF. I get that some people are allergic or sensitive. But I consume both gluten and diary and I'm doing perfectly fine and not inflammed. His diet is obviously "perfect" all the time and he's on the mission to get people to his way of eating. Every food group can be eaten in moderation. Fascinating video Layne thanks! I have seen so much information and recommendations from paleo diet zealots or candida diet zealots that emphasize this as well. I'm always caught somewhere in the middle because some information makes sense but so many people take it too far. I think your bottom line approach and observation that overall most diet regiments are probably fairly similar and how they affect inflammation although they may have some slight differences. I think based on the research in peoples experience that probably makes a lot of sense. Have you ever looked into any data and studies from people who are proponents of the "Whole 30" diet? Not sure if you've ever read that book, but they have a lot of testimonials of people who change their eating and cured, or significantly reduced, auto immune diseases and chronic pain, typically pain in the joints. I'm always interested to see what the research facts are of this. Whether or not it's purely the diet, or maybe it was cutting out one thing that their body was intolerant to and they just didn't know until they cut everything out. Anyways awesome information as always, thank you so much

The habitually removed a problem food/foods and that allowed the body to sort out the pain and swelling that had been present for a long time. The general change to healthy habits and some weight loss will help, a collection of positives plus a likely I improvement in their sleep all add up over time just like lots of bad habits take you the other direction. Most of health seems to be getting out of the body's way so it can operate properly for us, not battering it into submission by persisting with things thay offer no benefit.

im not bias to any protocol despite having used a few in my time . carb cycling , high carb low fat , and recently higher fat lower carb and must say i personally find it less effort staying in a deficit ,even a mild one when eating lower carb higher fat higher protien . I do increase carbs 12 hours prior to big training sessions or any strenuous and lengthily activity though . Thats typically before a heavy lower body day or a big hike in the mountains . So yeah if im going to be sedentary or not doing anything strenuous i just remove added sugar and starch pretty much completely and only get fibrous carbs from greens and some lactose from dairy and thats it .

I hate that world so much. Just “inflammation” is so irritating. There are a ton of inflammatory processes which we cannot live without. Inflammation is a very crucial part of our existence... Everyone knows NSAIDs can lead to peptic ulcers.. that’s because NSAIDs inhibit an INFLAMMATORY process in the gastric lining. That inflammatory process is obviously good. Layne’s back being injured and inflamed...good inflammation, it aided in the bodies natural repair process (speaking very simple here to try to get it across to laymen). The gist of the rant is inflammation is not always bad and the majority of the people throwing around the term don’t even understand what they’re speaking about. Glad we have people like Layne out there.

"Systemic inflammation are the amounts of inflammatory markers that circulate in the blood" Bit of a tautology. And I'm not getting it. Is it because they are circulating in the blood they are causing inflammation locally everywhere? Just asking to understand 🤗
@biolayne1
@biolayne1 4 жыл бұрын
No, localized inflammation is due to infiltration of the tissue with inflammatory cytokines. Those circulating in the blood do not necessarily reflect what is happening locally. This is why people who say that they must have high levels of inflammation because they have pain don’t really understand how inflammation works
@DomDeDom
@DomDeDom 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Layne. I'm clear on local inflammation. And systemic inflammation is the circulation of those inflammatory markers. Is that all? Or is it what those inflammatory markers do. E.g. hsCRP is an inflammatory marker, and if there are high quantities of this that circulates in the blood, the person had systemic inflammation. We're not identifying the health consequences of the high hsCRP as the systematic inflammation in this case. Got it. Accordingly, a diet that in general lowers these markers is a low inflammation diet. Got it I think I've earned myself some pop tarts 😊

"lose weight, lower inflam biomarkers. gain, they rise" - but you can't lose indefinitely. so what about inflammation at a steady bodyweight. and which biomarkers?. i get c-reactive protein tested two or three times a year for interest sake, and i've had IgE tested for interest. so i know this isn't a concern. but i do notice that sugar, which i rarely consume (no real sweet tooth, not interested in empty calories), seems to flare up old elbow tendinitis when i do have it. obviously anecdotal, maybe even placebo at this point, but it is what it is for me. every time. with no other explanation (not lifting harder than usual, no allergies, etc)
