Honestly the original canon makes the most sense. I think J.K. Rowling may have added in the information on Fleamont Potter to show the depth of the Potter house and add in more details about their lives. She must have said Fleamont is the father of James Potter to convolute the possibility of a Black family member entering the House of Gryffindor.

London Parkour Project Yes because the “rule” is that the woman gets the name of the husband and all the children carry the father’s name, making the Black bloodline still continuing forward even though the “royal family” doesn’t even acknowladge the existance of said children IF they they’re mudbloods from the house of Black. Beatriz Pereira well that depends on if they were legally disowned or not. Sirius wasn’t, while Andromeda was for example. Sirius was able to inherit the Black family fortune, while Andromeda had to live on her own independently.

Sirius inherited that when he became the last living male black family member that hadn't been legally disowned. Alphard could give him money irregardless of if he was disowned, whereas the black family fortune would only go to him if he wasn't legally disowned

they are no longer considered part of the family. And yes, they DO continue it, but not from purebloodists' standpoint. You may argue that this doesn't concern you, as you are not a pureblood supremacist. However, if you are not, then it should also not concern you whether the Black line continues or not

I like the theory that the Blacks had shorter lifespans because of inbreeding. One can say the Gaunt's mental instability can be a result of the same thing.

Not really. I think wars and politics were the cause in my headcanon. The whole inbreeding has never actually been confirmed unlike the Gaunts and the Lestranges.

Also I think it was Cedrella, daughter of Lysandra and Arcturus Black, married Serptimus Weasley and they are the parents of Arthur Weasley, Cedrella was then blasted of the tree.

why would they take her off the tree for that? the Weasleys were a Pure-Blood family, they were even part of the Sacred 28 (although not proud for being included in it) until Ron married a Muggle-born.

The Black Family sabotaged themselves in the end. Sirius was the only one who could continue the family name in the end, but the family's biggest supporter of blood purity and continuing the family line killed him in the end. It's kind of poetic.

You should also have mentioned cedrella black grandma to the weasleys was disowned for marrying a blood traitor Septimius Weasley. Also that Draco Malfoy and the current generation of Weasley siblings are third cousins while Arthur and Molly (through marriage) are second cousins once removed to Sirius.

I believe that guys name was Hector Dagwoth Granger. It would be interesting if she was because it would raise a lot of questions like are Muggleborns are truly born to parents without an once of magic and not descendants of long lost squib lines and so on. IT could be possible since the wizarding world treats squibs like crap >_>

I really feel like Bellatrix, Andromeda, and Narcissa were abused by their parents. Sirius was by his parents, Bellatrix went insane, Andromeda left, and Narcissa was very protective of Draco.

@@mysteryman3963Sirius (and maybe Regulus) were at least verbally abused considering how the portrait of Walburga depicts her verbally berating anyone she deems unfit so it's highly likely that she could've done the same to Sirius (and Regulus) which lead to Sirius running away and Regulus joining the death eaters so young (perhaps to finally make his mother proud after constant rejection as the 'spare child') This is speculation though

Remember that if you touch your wand to it and say something it replies- like when it made fun of Snape. They probably had a conversation with it similar to Harry with Tom Riddle's diary and it revealed itself to them knowing they were up to no good.

Before Bellatrix, Andromeda and Narcissa there were the first 3 black sisters Cedrella, Cassiopeia and Charis born 2 generations earlier before Harry’s time who should have also been included because they married into the Weasley, Crouch and Longbottom families respectively, producing members critical to the events that occurred in the Harry Potter series.

Something sad I noticed about the tapestry is that there's only two skulls, despite the fact that more than two people in the family have died by that point where we see the tapestry in the films. Looking at the skulls, however, shows that one skull is (our) Regulus and the other is much closer to the root of the tree, likely corresponding to the brother of Phineas Nigellus Black who died at 8 years old. Which must mean that the skulls are reserved for those who died very, very young...

I think if you read the books, that the reason they tend to die "young" is that they have a tendency towards being easily angered and have little qualms about attacking folks as their first resort but none of them seem particularly good at DEFENCE.

It does seem the Black family did die young. I don't know if inbreeding is the cause of early death in the family. It only happens if the offspring is affected by certain recessive gene that causes "inbreeding depression" which decreases the ability to survive or reproduce

It's hard to say but at the same time it is plausible. I don't think to my knowledge that the Blacks did what the Gaunts did, but it is fair to say that maybe the inbreeding did cause problems.

I love your explained videos dean, but I think you should've mentioned how the Wesley family fit into, I learned from movieflame's video that they're related (a lot of families seem to be related to them) I think you you do a video on Squibs, and compare the ones that were disowned to the ones that weren't, and maybe your theory of how, when and where they disown them, (I imagine they'll be 12, since they come into powers when they're 11,) tho I know they have signs as babies. Or next video to be the origin of half breeds, no wait I don't wanna know or see that :D lol

One thing that has always bemused me was that Sirius explained his relationship to the Malfoys, Tonks & the Weasleys but completely omitted Harry’s relationship to the Black family through Charlus Potter’s marriage to Dorea Black and their Son who were likely first and second cousins to Henry Potter Harry’s great grandfather and Fleamont potter his grandfather. They weren’t that far off the family tree as Dorea was the aunt to Walburga Sirius’s mother and his cousins the Black sisters. The ironic part was that Harry quickly saw and pointed out to the Malfoys relation to Sirius but missed to recognized his own family’s connection to the Blacks.

You may be onto something there Dean, about the Blacks dying young (for Wizards) because inbreeding deteriorated their health quicker. Maybe you should look into the Gaunt Family Tree and see if inbreeding in their family saw early deaths in the previous generations it may solidify this theory!

My guess is the reason the Black Family Tree only goes back to the 1800s on the tapestry is because that century is when the family moved into Grimmauld Place and made it the main family home. So he started the family tree in the house from when he moved in there

Walburga Black went to Hogwarts with Tom. They were both born on 1926 so it was likely that they were classmates.

In actual fact, Walburga was born 1925, and while we do not know her exact date of birth, Tom Riddle was born 31 Dec 1926, and as the school year starts in September, Walburga would have been a year above Tom, though they likely would still know each other as they were both Slytherins.

Could there have been squibs who either immigrated to America with a non wizarding parent, after either the death or desertion of their wizarding parent and be raised as a non maj with any knowledge that they would have had with the wizarding world oblivated by their wizarding relatives or they came to the US before they could remember anything about the wizarding world? With the US having a law banning wizarding people to associate with the non-maj's that could be a possibility and could we have already been introduced to such a squib in the Fantastic Beasts movies with Jacob where such a move winds up causing heartache? Jacob's parents could have died before they could tell him the truth about his parentage and there was the Spanish Influenza epidemic in 1918 where he would have been away at that time.

I got a great theory here listen to me: Harry and Ron are related via Charlus Potter who married Dorea Black, then Marius Black, who was a squib, went ln to live a muggle life, and he is incredibly Hermione’s ancestor, and there she got her magical gene from. All sums up to, the trio is actually related

Draco comes from the black family line and so does harry making them relatives, but harry is related to Voldemort through the "three brothers" making them relatives and harry marries Ginny and have a son (albus)and Voldemort had sex with bellatrix lestrange and had a daughter (delphini) making them relatives and so forth
