The Sacred 28 is a list of magical families still considered pureblood by the 1930s..although the list creator was not made public..it is believed to have been Cantankerus Nott.. In these videos I’m going to take you through a different magical family from the Sacred 28 list starting with todays family.. The House of Gaunt. The House of Gaunt was once a prominent, wealthy family in the wizarding world, and originated from many powerfully magical wizards and witches. Let’s take a look at the familys origins..

@@user-lj2kn8ti3b oh c'mon, we all know Rowling only confirmed it as cannon to make people but it, if people thought the book was the so long waited continuation of the saga and that it was a vital part, then they would just run to the nearest bookstore, otherwise is just a fanfic that J.K sa and thought "yeah, this might be possible", cause she didn't even write it, and many parts of that book contradict the personalities of the original characters. So stop tricking yourself with the "J.K said is cannon" because is not cannon because she thought this was definitely how this was gonna end, but because otherwise not as many people would have bought that book in the end.

Yes, the Weasleys are one of the Sacred 28. They're just not pure-blood anymore, but even most Sacred 28 families are either extinct or no longer pure by now because it was in the 1930s. And he already did the Potters. But I do agree that he should do the Dumbledores, at least once more information on that becomes available.

My guess: he felt entitled to a better life on account of his heritage, but he didn't have the connections, wealth, etc to make it better. And given how low his family had fallen, and the physical description of his children, he probably gave up and settled for acting like a petty bully. If you're miserable, it's a lot easier to make others miserable too than to try and improve yourself.

"The Cursed child" is NOT canon. Voldemort has NO kin! Rowling may approved of the play but that does not make it canon. She also approved of several well written fanfictions but that don't make them canon either.

It's not just that she approved of it... she literally named it as canon (unlike fanfics) and it is listed as canon as part of the official Pottermore timeline. It's canon... the creator decides what is canon on her own universe, not the fans. We can like it or hate it but we can't declare it non canon... that power lies solely with Rowling. It's her universe afterall. It'd be like use declaring the law of gravity to be fake because we don't believe whatever deity should have created it... won't change the fact that we are bound by it and aren't going to be floating around in our homes on earth😂

In all fairness, you don't have to be in love to do the dirty and create a child. And anyway I could not imagine Voldy being interested in any sort of sexual activity whatsoever, and certainly not after he transformed himself and mutilated his features. I think he would have made sure those parts of himself didn't work. He thought himself immortal and had faith in his horcruxes, a child never would have crossed his mind.

@@kuceracm I don't think he ever would have cared about having an heir for himself (as you said he thought himself Immortal and planned to live forever), but I do think he might, maybe, have considered it on the basis of spreading the nearly extinct Slytherin bloodline. His status as heir of Slytherin is something he was acutely aware of and he seemed particularly proud of this ancestry. He may have been interested in keeping the Slytherin bloodline active... and it couldn't hurt to have a born and raised, supremely loyal Death Eater or two as a bonus now could it😉

You should omit Cursed Child information as it goes against original canon in so many ways concerning Time Turners (mainly, what you did you always had done so the present doesn't change). It's as bad as Dumbledore being dressed as a fashionable Man-About-Town-Dandy while teaching at Hogwarts in the Grindelwald movie.

It doesn't go against the canon about Time Turners as what you say, isn't true. Never is it said that the Novikov Self-Consistency Principle (which states that you didn't alter time but in fact made sure that things happened as they have happened in your past) has to be obeyed and even in "Prisoner of Azkaban" examples are given of time travelers that didn't obey the Self-Consistency principle and caused paradoxes. In "Prison of Azkaban, Chapter 21 - Hermione's Secret page 300, we find the following passage: "Exactly! You wouldn't understand, you might even attack yourself! Don't you see? Professor McGonagall told me what awful things have happened when wizards have meddled with time... Loads of them ended up killing their past or future selves by mistake." They killed their past selves by mistake and in the process didn't just alter time but created a time anomaly.

@@affebanane3039 I know what the original canon states as fact (reread the part about the Ministry official visits the Gaunts just a very few years before the Grindelwald movie). I know that the movie version of the Fantastic Beasts series takes a completely different tact on many things and not for the good. I know that changing what is known about a universe leads to the death of that universe as why accept anything that can change on a whim in the next book/movie/series. I know that everyone makes mistakes. I also have seen that blind belief in someone's infallibility leads to cults and religion.

It might be taught in 7th year Defence Against the Dark Arts. It also might be beyond NEWT level, McGonagall said to Harry he would have to study at the ministry for three years after sitting his NEWTs to become an auror and occlumency is very advanced magic.

What caused muggles to stop hunting witches and wizards? How did they even forget about the existence of magic? Also, why were they hunting and killing wizards? Why was there no peace? Just wondering.

If I were to guess, probably memory charm + the wizards went into full hiding, so if any muggle found out that there was a wizard, they automatically got their memories wiped. Thus probably mankind completely forgot and just had wizards as fairy tales to scare kids with.

@@Sue_hrec I was thinking more like, when wizards went underground, muggles couldn't track them, and as generations grew, people kinda drifted away from the idea of magic, and the newer generations, treated magic as lore or child stories. Wizards didn't even need to do anything but wait. I can't really think of any other reason. I would like to see Dean confirming this.

In all honesty very few witches / wizards were ever truly caught . As religion died off so did the fear of magic , plus given what I have studied about in history it wasn't your average peasant / Muggle who was the issue . They often lived with " magic users " with no problems and actually sort their help more than you think . It was the witch Hunters that were the issues . Witch burnings actually mainly occured in one time period so most of the time they would have lived in peace side by side . Going underground sorted most issues out and if found out even by modern standards when muggles were able " to fight back " unsuspecting muggles were often helpless when it came to one on one with wizards/ witches . 9/10 in the books it ended well for the magic user as they had suprise on their side which renders knives and guns useless . It would have been a lot easier back then to subdue a Muggle and wipe their memory clean . So it's easy to keep yourself hidden when you have the advantage

come on, you can't forget this...... throughout all of the middle ages, there were witchunts initiated, driven and fueled by the church, and that happened irl, outside the Potter universe. So, the fictional World just states that those prosecuted were Real witches, but that they were not bad as the church claimed. Im still really surprised tho that you have no knowledge of the real wolrd event, since it was litterally the most important thing that happened in the entire middle ages

I have a theory regarding the origin and history of the Gaunt family. Given that they claimed to be the direct descendants of Salazar Slytherin and share their belief in pure-blood supremacy along ability in speaking Parseltongue similar to Salazar himself, the Gaunt family is a cadet branch of the Slytherin family where they were one of the wealthiest and most prominent British wizarding families. At some point, at least one male member of the Gaunt family married with a descendant of Cadmus Peverell, the original owner of the Ressurection Stone, where they also inherited the Stone (and they eventually forgot what is the Stone actually in the later generations) just like how the Potters got the Cloak of Invisibility. With Corvinus Gaunt is confirmed to be Hogwarts' student, it can be inferred that the Gaunts also educated at Hogwarts where presumably they were traditionally sorted into Slytherin like the Black and Malfoy families. However by the time their wealth and source of income ran dry because of their penchant for luxury combined with mental instability and several deformities as the result of the generations of inbreeding which also reduced the members of family, the Gaunts eventually became the outcast from the circle of elite wizarding families where they lived in poverty along with their children stopped attending Hogwarts (although the Hogwarts fee is free, they still need to buy the school supplies with their own money) and only taught magic at home.

The line died with Thomas Marvolo Riddle, and even then one could argue that Tom didn't even carry on the name given that he hated both sides of his family. He gave no reason for not taking his mother's name but "did you really think I would take my filthy muggle father's name!?"
