5:20: Matthew's a pretty common name (at least in my part of the country, which is admittedly a different country than the one Toronto is in). _Way_ more common than Hubert, Francis, and Alfonso combined. On the other hand, most of the Matthews I know go by "Matt" in informal contexts. So it _is_ kinda weird that most people seem to call both Matthews by their full name, regardless of context.

I rewatched a lot of them on KZfaq some time ago, but well after when it was fresh, and I was a bit worried my memory would be ruined. Not at all - sure it has a cheesy layer, but the writing is much better than it has any need to be. Good vampire lasanga! ❤

I feel old. I was in high school when Forever Knight started airing where I live in the US and in university when it ended (and watched it religiously from start to finish).

The part about the flashback that confused me was when Janette told LaCroix that their victim resembled his father. LaCroix was born in Ancient Rome and he brought Janette across centuries later in medieval France, so how would she know what LaCroix’s dad looked like? Did he draw her a picture? I guess the stuff about LaCroix’s father was just part of their game and I’m overthinking things like I tend to do.

This is the first thing I ever saw Joe Kapelos in, and because of it I'm happy every time I see him pop up in something.

I used to skip class to watch reruns of Forever Knight on the Sci-Fi (SyFy?) channel, and I have no regrets whatsoever.

“Baggin’ on Schanke,” the name of next year’s season 2 Forever Knight-a-thon.

Schanke is one of those guys everyone knows. A bit of a creep, but mostly harmless. Someone you might not feel all that comfortable around for certain reasons but isn't really someone you really think of as awful. The bit about listening to that call-in show about sex stuff but publicly saying he doesn't like it is that one guy you know looks at porn, probably the most vanilla porn there is, but is personally ashamed to admit it. Probably why he's so likable, he's familiar.

There's a shockingly high like to view count on this episode, and honestly, it's earned.

Loving these and I might have to find this to watch. I saw this show once, years ago on a day I was home from school for some reason. Until now it was one of the weird, fascinating, out-of-nowhere shows you watched once (in a daytime marathon) and then never saw again. Eventually you couldn't remember the title. Resign yourself to never see the show again, talk about it like it was a hallucination.

This has been so much fun. I loved this show as a kid. Other breakdowns I hope you'll consider: The horny trainwreck that was the all too short Kindred: The Embraced TV show (also conveniently here on KZfaq). Beauty and the Beast, the 80's Ron Perlman version that is somehow even more of a fever dream than I remembered it being. (I think it's still free on Tubi). Highlander deep dive. Like, all of it, including the horrible Jaguar game maybe? Alien Nation. I just feel like no one remembers this show. I loved it so much as a kid. It just doesn't seem like it gets as much love as say, FarScape and other sci fi shows. Dorohedoro. No other reason than I genuinely think you'll like it. Also, it just got its 2cd season greenlit which no one thought was happening and I'm stoked. Keep 'em coming! Normally I tend to shy away from too much nostalgia but I just feel like I'm watching these again with a friend when you do it. It's nice.

I wonder if the "day" scenes were originally tinted blue but they used the original negatives for the HD scan and forgot to color grade those scenes? Same thing happened a lot in the HD version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Since this episode was all radio shows. I could've sworn that Lacroix's radio show was bookend narration for awhile in the show, kinda like how The Outer Limits opened and ended. Just one more reason to dig out my DVDs and re-watch. : )

I've said this before, but like I like horror a little, but can't handle the extreme stuff, and its not good for me to watch a lot of it. The V/H/S franchise is the most extreme I'll go. But I find the genre fascinating and people who are into fascinating and I love watching you talk about it. Also big fan of your other channel. John Kepelos really does a lot with Schanke, which could have been a worthless part that rendered the show unwatchable. People don't appreciate how hard it is to create a good sidekick character--they have to be fun, watchable and charismatic but in a far different way than the lead.
