Laci Denise Peterson (née Rocha; May 4, 1975 - c. December 24, 2002) was an American womann from Modesto killed while eight-months pregnant with her first child. Laci's husband, Scott Lee Peterson (born October 24, 1972), was convicted of first-degree murder for her death and second-degree murder for the death of their unborn son. Originally sentenced to death, Scott's sentence was overturned in 2020, and, in 2021, he was re-sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Now, over 20 years later, Scott Peterson's sister-in-law Janey Peterson is still fighting to exonerate him. This podcast episode revisits the case as well as key locations involved.

Such a tragic case told with sensitivity to the victims. Very interesting to see so much video related to the Bay and the home. Fortunately Scott Peterson is stuck in prison, denied the lifestyle and the women that he thought could be gained by vicious, selfish murder. Thank you for visiting this story. I've mentioned your channel to others recently.

Scott made multiple trips to the Berkley marina area the following year in the winter and spring. He never took the boat - just sat and looked out to sea. Police investigators followed him a few times but it seems he got spooked and they had to call off the surveillance. It seems likely he was trying to see if there were any police boats or similar activity around Brook's island. If there were, he would have had to make an early run for it. It's all very well to speak about returning to the scene of the crime, but there has to be some reason for driving so far for so little gain. When you look at the shore line of Brook's island , it suggests a muddy bottom in that area. IN such areas you won't find crabs or crayfish. These two are the largest marine destroyers of sunken flesh (as found by tests done in Canada) . Once a body is stripped right down, it can't float and the bones will be scattered all over and will likely sink into any mud. Scott had to work with the marine environment he had and it was not working in his favour. TE. Fidler

I note that there's no sign in the photos of the large beach umbrellas that may have been in the bottom of the boat when it went out . If they did go on the trip they were likely used to roll the body out of the boat while keeping it stable. It's also notable that the rebar used in the remaining weight is not rusty at all as shown. That suggests it has never been anywhere near salt water. Scott need that artifact to have justification as to buying in the bagged concrete and rebar to make up the other weights. It's possible that he ended up only using two of the four weights. That's to say , he had one in the water while attached to the body , another attached with rope to an arm or leg, threw the second one out and rolled the body off. The other weights might have been used to weigh down whatever bag or tarpaulin that the body was concealed in so he was not bringing potential evidence back to the warehouse. It's remarkable that a single person could manage this on a horrible cold choppy day of Christmas eve - keeping the boat into the wind and so on. It suggests to me that many of the ropes were already set up in stiller waters or on land . Most likely he went into the lee of Brook's island got set up , then let the boat get pushed out into deeper water by the wind , keeping bow into wind using the outboard , and then dropped the body. Great channel! Wonderful story-telling and I appreciate how much respect you show every victim. I’ve grown to hate killers, esp serial killers, because I believe one-time murderers (Scooter Peterson, C Watts) are simply too stupid and simple to come up with decent solutions to their problems. Serial killers are blowhards who think they’re smarter than everyone else but they’re also simple and boring people who have to ruin other people’s lives in order to make themselves interesting. Bonus hatred goes to the idiots who mail media letters and give themselves jaunty nicknames. One tip: read the words on the screen. I listen to YT vids while doing other things. I have a premium membership because I have no tolerance for ads & I can let the video play on even when my phone sleeps or whatever it does. I like the option of looking at a visual if I feel like it but i’m not overjoyed when I have to stop what I’m doing to read a screen that contains important information about the case. Keep up the good work! This channel is wonderful.

This was very sad and very tragic for him to do this to his beautiful wife and unborn son. I honestly believe that Scott did not want the baby, and that he had to get rid of Lacy before she went into labor. I believe that it was all about him, and that the baby would have taken that from him.

I have always felt he killed her the night of the 23rd. I think he was already planning to do it. But something happened to push it along for that night. And I think it has to do with the mail. I think that Amber either got his real mailing address and mailed him a card with one of their pictures. Or someone that knew Laci got ahold of one of Amber’s cards and photos and sent it to Laci, anonymously. Amber sent those to a ton of people+ she kept trying to figure out if he had a place in Modesto. So both of these theories are a possibility. Laci saw it and all heck broke lose. She told him she was leaving him, gonna tell everybody and taking him for everything he had. I think she then went in the bedroom to re-dress and leave. And that is why she was found in just her underwear, pants and bra. As she was re dressing in bedroom, he attacked. That is why she was half dressed and her shirt was still found at the house. There was a psychic early on in the investigation. Not all that trusting of psychics. But she was right about several things and didn’t seem to want any attention from it. She saw a similar scenario as this. And it makes sense. And if it was something in the mail, whoever sent it is probably never gonna tell. And of course Scott got rid of it.

@kleopatra6234
@kleopatra6234 7 ай бұрын
I'm with you. Scott murdered her on the 23rd giving him plenty of time to clean up the scene and plan his next move. Also, when Laci died wouldn't Connor's body have exited Laci's body ? Remember when they found Connor's body, Connor had twine around his torso and around his neck, in two separate places. Scott tied the dead baby to Laci's body and wrapped them in a tarp or some sort of plastic. (The only way twine could have attached to the child and mother is if a human hand had put it there!) Sometime in the night he put the tarp in his truck and in the morning the neighbor saw him putting umbrella's in the back of his truck. Umbrella's -- what a perfect way to conceal a tarp with a small woman and her dead baby attached to her. By the way, Laci also had twine(or duct tape) stuck on her. Read the autopsy report for both of them. It shows the twine (or duct tape).

Graybill could absolutely see the gate as he was coming from the north, walking past the house. You and your cohorts like to post a photo taken of one vantage point of the driveway and the gate with Scott’s truck also parked in the driveway, and say, “See! Look! No way Graybill could see the gate!” Like hello idiots… Scott’s truck wasn’t in the driveway when Graybill came by, and he walked PAST the driveway. Of course he could see it 🥴. Not to mention the fact that he was very familiar with McKenzi and knew what gate he would come out of.. of course he would pay attention to that gate. Graybill was a pretty remarkable witness in that he knew he started his route early on the 24th, and that was before he even referred to his scans. He knew the dogs on his route, especially Covena, he knew their names, breed, behaviors… so the constant attacking of him on your part reeks of desperation. Graybill had nothing to gain by lying.. no reason to embellish whatsoever. A completely neutral, non-biased witness. And nothing was out of the ordinary for Graybill that day which is what he testified to.
