Scanlan is one of my favorite characters from the 1st campaign and he's actually toned down quite a bit, sorta a PG-13 version in the show vs his rated R version during the game. He has a great story line throughout the entire campaign but it is awesome that they got most of his essential qualities captured. It is pretty impressive that they managed to get something like 50 - 60 hours of gameplay condensed into about 6 and still have a lot of the amazing events and still be coherent.

Fwiw, Episodes 1-2 recount events that happened during Critical Role’s non-televised home game, so the events happened but we never saw them play out. Episode 3 and onward episodes adapt events during the “Briarwood Arc” of their live play sessions The heavy improv by the players makes lines like “YOUR SOUL IS FORFEIT” doubly amazing.

As far as Sylas vs. Ball Tag goes, in D&D vampires take reduced amounts of damage from attacks that aren't magical in nature. They also regenerate health quite quickly, unless they're hit by attacks that do "Radiant damage" which is a type of damage commonly associated with divine (holy) magic. It's arguably why Delilah was quick to target Pike, since she'd be the most likely to use that kind of magic. So when Grog tagged Sylas he not only dealt a negligible amount of damage, Sylas also healed that damage as fast as it was dealt.

What i love about this series is that these are the same voice actors in most English Dubbed anime. So people who hate on dub out here enjoying the same actors they dislike. I mean Matt Mercer is iconic as Levi, Liam O Brien is Gaara, Travis Willingham is Mustang, his wife Laura Bailey is Lust, etc etc

What I love is that Abi is always ready to betray us all for the suave evil bad guy. But that voice though..

7:07 Regarding Vampires, if you want to see a rather short but imo beautifully animated adult vampire show, then I can really recommend giving 'Castlevania' a try. The show has 4 seasons with each 4 to 10 episodes. They are also working on a sequel show right now. 8:26 You'd probably thirst for quite a few Vampires in 'Castlevania'.

His name is Simon, and he's a one-eyed trouser snake. 😂 Regarding vampires - in D&D lore, to be turned into a vampire one has to DIE by being drained by their bite. Mechanics-wise, a bite not only does damage to your hitpoints but also lowers your MAX hitpoints an equal amount. When your HP max equals zero, you die instantly without a chance at being knocked unconscious (and potentially healed). After all, a heal can only heal you to your max but if your max is zero... 💀.

If you don't mind mild spoilers, once you're done with the series you should look up the cast watch alongs they did on the CR channel. The one with Grey Griffin (Delilah's VA) is pretty fucking funny. They just discuss things relating to the campaign and it could contain spoilers for things that happen in the show

the "You look delicious" line was one of the biggest "NNOOOOO!" cliffhangers in the live stream. "You look delicious" everyone: "OMG! He's a fucking VAMPIRE!" ".....and that where we end tonight." everyone: "NOOOOOOO!"

One thing I love in this is how Delilah's magic has that screaming sound effect. Really gets across that what she's doing is major league bad mojo (you know, in case the black/purple color and spiky-ness didn't make that clear)

Scanlan's songs have some wacky lyrics, but they are some slam jams! I find myself singing them despite myself. "Pull my muthafukin ..." bomp bomp pomp pomp . . .The beat is infectious. Damn you, Sam Riegel!

Yay! I was so happy to see another reaction from you for this show. Also, "Wait I do have a sword!" I was expecting like, a foam joke sword that you had lying around, and you pull out freaking Andúril * delighted* "What the actual fuck?" was exactly the reaction from the other players at the Critical Role table when Percy shot Desmond's hand apart, it was a dark turn that nobody was expecting, and this is where the campaign started to shift in tone from your slightly lighthearted "fight the monsters, loot the room" campaign to something more focused. Also, "You fool, now your soul is forfeit!" was an off-the-cuff line from Percy's player, who has some GREAT one-liners at the table. I love that they were able to translate the moment to animation so well.

The guy who plays Percy is Tallison Jafee, he directed and voiced quite a bit for Castlevania! He is such a great character and Percy always will be one of my favorite characters of CR. Tal loves gothic stuff and even has been on streams of people playing Vampire the Masquerade. And yup, that is the voice of Azula! Grey is an absolute GEM! And Sylas, many of the backround characters are played the DM, Matt Mercer. He is a powerhouse of voice acting. U might know him as Levi Akerman from AOT
