I believe every Apple product is about more than specs. My friend is saving up for this machine with 256 GB storage for essays, music production, etc. in college on the go. I'm hyped for him.

One word, optimisation. Sure that Y cpu is kinda underpowered, but believe me when I say this. This device will outlast many quad core i5 and i7 windows laptops and it might run better at times!

Specs are just one end of the spectrum. Optimization also matters and I think nothing is up to par with apple with that yet. The new MacBook Air is still a dope device! Great content, man!

I've been using a MacBook Pro (Early 2015 w/ Retina) for the past 4 years and today I picked up my new MacBook Air after a lot of research and let me just say, I am obsessed. The common complaint was that the brightness wasn't high enough which personally I think is just nit picking (pun intended). It's plenty bright in my opinion, couldn't tell a difference with my Pro side by side. The only real con with it is the camera. It's horrible. Like very very bad quality. Overall though, it's a beautiful design and more than adequate for anyone who won't be doing a substantial amount of photo or video editing. Love it!!

Got one of these. Use it for light tasks. Hate the lack of ports. Hate the keyboard. Hate the new power connector (not the magnetic type). Love most other things about it. A joy to pickup and use aside from the things mentioned.

It’ll be a massive improvement from an upgraded Mac mini (2010 with 8gb ram and 1TB hard drive - it’s great as my media centre connected to the TV) and 2017 iPad (as well as a once in a blue moon use of my VERY old 2009 white plastic [not even unibody] MacBook). I’m feeling really excited. I had been a bit worried because of the bitching from people about the brightness and the specs. For what I need it looks like it’ll be perfect. Thanks for the peace of mind.

Nice! I very nearly got this but at £1400 for the 256 version (which I would really need) it wasn’t hard to dig a bit deeper for the new 13Pro for £350 extra. I think you are right it’s a really great laptop and is all most folks will need (including me) but I just couldn’t swallow the value proposition. And of course in the final irony, ended up giving Apple even more of my money 😂

I'm curious: you said the render time isn't too bad. But how long does it take to render a video? Did you render this MacBook Air video (or the iPad Pro Tips & Tricks?) on this laptop? How long did it take & in which program (Final Cup or iMovie)?

I am interested of buying this laptop. It only has 2 USB C ports and one headphone jack. I can buy USB C adapter for other types of ports. Would it be safe to use it outdoor? I currently have iMac from early 2012.

I just picked up my new MacBook Air 13 inch from the Apple store last week. So far I’m just loving it. The only thing I did was increase the hard drive storage.

Just checked out my battery health on my MacBook Air (2018) and its max is on 4200 mAh, is that normal? Cause it really lasts like 3 hours

Got MBP 2017 256GB non touchbar for around $1315 in India. Pretty happy with my purchase but bit concerned about keyboard as i am reading Gen2 keyboard is faulty.

I'm probably not the first to say this, but you are easily one of if not the best tech KZfaqrs out there in my opinion. I came to your channel with the videos debunking lots of the iPhone Xr videos and I was amazed at how well you explained the whole difference between the OLED and the LCD on the iPhones and how each needs a different PPI to make the resolution was crisp. I actually went to an Apple store and looked at both of the screens and, like you, found that they were really close (I was even more surprised that I managed to hide the notch with a black wallpaper on the Xr). I just had one question. I use a 2017 MacBook Pro and I was more looking at getting a new iPhone to act more as an accessory to that since I can access my computer's files with the iCloud Drive app and there are quite a few situations that its kind of impractical to pull out a laptop (say while standing up on a train) and productivity would benefit from not having to waste that time. You mentioned that the 'Liquid Retina' display on the iPad pro can to a two-finger gesture to select part of a text precisely I was wondering if the Xr could do the same. I'm looking at the Xs mostly for that ability and a few other things to boost my productivity but I'd rather spend the extra money on more storage. Any reply is appreciated!

For video calls on Zoom or other video apps the CPU in this Mac just really bothers me. It can barely handle it. The fans get so loud and when you multitask it’s kind of laggy

Would you recommend any scenario to get the 1.5T SSD? I’m picking one of these up tomorrow and was thinking 16GB ram, 512GB SSD. Since it can’t be upgraded I want to make sure I don’t make a mistake, meaning not buying enough storage as well as buying too much and causing the Air to become way too expensive. I appreciate your video.

How did you like the screen brightness? I saw a lot of negative reviews commenting on the screen not being bright enough. To be honest I didn’t think it seemed a whole lot dimmer than the pro when I saw them in the store. The pro definitely had a nicer screen though. But I am worried I will use it for a week or so and not like the screen.

I purchased the new MacBook Air and even if you might think this device is underpowerered it performs beautifully. Believe it or not I will be using this as my main video editing device and so far it does not feel like a challenge at all. Of course, Im using FCPX but the optimization makes video editing much more pleasant than video editing on my cyber power PC.

I wonder 300nits of brightness is enough to use on the go! I actually at outside more than inside in a day, But you know 300nits and GLARE!!!!!! Eventho That is good update for lite users. It's not light as New Macbook and NOT FANLESS. Lol It's good product afterall. If I have 15" Macbook Pro, I'll get this for second laptop for light workout.

Let me tell you I wanted a 13inch touchbar pro but my dad got me 256 gig air initially I was sceptical.. but man it flies through all my tasks I do video editing on imovies ,I use xcode and python,and I watch a lot of KZfaq and it has been great ..it's sleek it's light overall a great machine for 1400 bucks. Windows fans please don't reply me about a better windows laptop!!! Great video by the way you earned a new subscriber

My problem is the 11 inch MacBook Air was the shit. The 12 inch MacBook is way more appealing then this. Not just that what people really wanted was the same MacBook Air with retina screen. I think if they could of just switched the Mac safe with thunder bolt 3 and had the casing be more different but similar to the new MacBooks would of been the best thing they could of done. This is just a cheap ass MacBook Pro.
