lol...Dolores and Camilo as the Madrigal Secret Police is hilariously dark, and I kind of love it.

I once saw someone on TikTok say that the gift was selected based on Alma and what she needed at that time. For her three kids, she wanted security in the Encanto- controllable weather, warning for the future and healing from the past. Isabella- beauty for the town and unlimited food (even though the family only saw flowers I’m sure she can grow produce too) Delores- knowing the goings on in the town, knowing opinions of the people is important when you are the leader Luisa- strength for rebuilding and expanding the growing Encanto Camilo- an extra set of hands regardless of the height or build of the people (lending to the growing Encanto; could also be lending to a spying thing like Delores) Because Alma is getting on in age, Mirabel was selected as the next Keeper of the Candle. Antonio was given the ability to speak to animals- a gift given to him by Mirabel because of her ability. Another person also said that the characters all fit in fun groups of three: Triplets - past, present and future Julieta’s girls- beauty, brawn and brains Pepa’s kids- hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil

So, an interesting theory I read a while back is that each gift would be useful in a war-time scenario a lot. Luisa to build fortifications, Delores to hear enemy communications, etc. Which I think is a bit fitting because of how the miracle came to be, i.e. Pedro dying to protect his family from conquerors. Why each person specifically got their power? I'd guess it's something with what's most vital for protection. Antonio's gift is semi-redundant with Delores, so it only manifested with him instead of earlier. Peppa's weather control would cause havoc with an enemy advance/assault, potentially more so than just more troops. Isabella's looks pointless in this context at first, but with the reveal that she can make any plant, not just flowers, you start to realize vines, trees, etc are incredibly difficult terrain to make progress through, especially when they're actively growing to stop you. So, while I think the gifts are really well-suited to the characters, I think that's more of a "power grooming them to better fit the power" than "power is based on characters' interests" kind of thing.

6:05 I think the other intent behind Camilo’s gift is that him being a theater kid, he’s good at making people smile. He can change his appearance to make someone laugh and cheer them up, and I think that’s really sweet.

There is another theory that their gifts came from what Abuella needed at the time. Daughters are very emotionally connected to their mothers, so Peppa was supposed to signal emotional distress in her mothe to the town. Julietta was supposed to heal any potential illness stemming from stress. Bruno was supposed to give her peace in knowing the future. Luisa was supposed to help the community grow by being strong for them and helping around the town. Isabella was supposed to help with farming (alongside Peppa probably) by growing plants. Dolores was supposed to help Abuella know what the community needs. Camillo was supposed to fill in for people in the community that need it. Up until Mirabel, it was Abuella that have the gifts, and with Mirabel, she wanted to secure the future. This made Mirabel the next candle holder but didn't give her a door so that she could connect with the youngest children. With Antonio, however, it was Mirabel that subconsciously decided his gift by leading him to his door. And all she needed was for him to be happy as he is, so he got something he loved, animals. That's also why his door has him as a kid while the rest are adults on their doors. (or Casita knows it's lifespan but that's another theory)

Is it just me who doesnt think Antonio is playing dumb when talking about bruno in the end? Because i always saw it as Antonio telling Camillo ”thats bruno!”, because Camillo is confused. Also, Antonio says it in confidence, not in confusion. Idk, it seems like a lot of people, and as you mentioned in the video, think he is pretending, or something, to not know Bruno, when for me he obvioulsy do know? Is there anyone else who thinks like me, because im getting confused? xD

Maybe this is another thing about why Mirabel didn't get a gift. She doesn't need a coping mechanism because she is always determined to understand the good and the bad feelings and work them out. At the end, her coping mechanism was "being with her family" and that's the door (and the power) she gets: a house and the miracle back to her family.

If you see Pepa in the beginning(as a child) she is so happy so the ability to control the weather with her mood, when she is such a happy child= eternal sunshine

Personal head canon: everyone is wrong about Abuela’s gift. I think she created the mountain range surrounding Encanto, and her gift is manipulating the terrain. She just hasn’t used it since the day she got it. You see mountain ranges on her dress on her door, and there’s SO MANY references to “moving mountains” in almost every solo song that I think the family members all aspire to achieve the level of influence/power that Abuela has.

I really like the idea that Pepa can control her power as she is more free with her emotions. Otherwise her gift was only a curse. Imagine if she were happy for a long time and they only had sunshine... Crops and plants need rain at SOME point... Would they have forced her to feel sadness to get some rain?

Honestly, as someone with noise hypersensitivity due to autism, I definitely related to Dolores. I can’t imagine how constantly overwhelming that is. Kind of like how Queenie’s legilimens abilities can be debilitating for her. I’m lucky to have headphones that can cancel out noise. The Madrigals are from the 50s and don’t have that luck.

While Isabella's abilities seemed to be limited to flowers at the beginning, she could still bring plants to it's pollinating state to help ensure a healthy and bountiful crop.

I feel camilo’s identity crisis would have been clearer in the movie for Camilo to not be able to shift into his true form and thus his conclusion would have been accepting himself and turning into himself

This is also a great explanation for Mirabel`s lack of powers. She knows herself better than anyone and is totally at peace with it, she knows she doesn`t have to please anyone else to be perfect the way she is. That also could have a great impact in the future generations of the family. For example, Antonio`s gift was a little more "relax" than the others, and now taken in consideration the end of the movie, the family will begin to feel less dependant and more accepting of their gifts and maybe not need them very often meaning that the next children could not have powers as well, just like Mirabel.

I actually heard a theory that the reason they have the powers that they do is because the magic thought there would be another war, like the one that brought the magic. For example! The mountains were there as a gate to stop the enemies The gifts’ purpose for the family themselves: Delores: can hear the enemies coming from far away Louisa: need I say? She could take 5 soldiers at once Julietta: healing the soldiers wounded in battle. Bruno: could *see* the war and prepare everyone for it. Isabella: just…. It makes sense… Pepa: could turn the weather against the enemies, maybe strike them w lightning? Camilo: shape-shift into a high ranking enemy, take them out, then be them. If Antonio was older, he’d be a great asset!

The thing about coping mechanisms is that they can go both ways: positive or negative. I really liked how the Madrigals transitioned to healthy coping by the end of the movie because it shows how important mental health can be. I definitely used to be a mixture of Luisa and Dolores, going between trying too hard and then not trying at all because I was discouraged.

I honestly wanna see more of Camilo. He was snuffed out of this film a LOT and I really wanna see more of his character besides the family clown

I've always wondered what the Madrigal's do with their powers. Luisa does labor around the town with her strength, Isabella grows plants for perhaps both beauty and food and Pepa controls the weather, which probably helps with the crops, Julieta makes foods to cure ailments, but what do Dolores, Camillo, and Antonio do? We do see Camillo transform himself into an exhausted mother so she can rest, and he can babysit. He even offers her a pillow. What about Antonio and Dolores? Will he be in in charge of livestock? Ben does make a good point that Camillo and Antonio could be like the law enforcement, listening in and disguising themselves to make sure all is peaceful.

I think all the Powers are pretty impressive ways to defend the village against an attacks. - Abuela and Mirabel have proven to be competent leaders - Dolores and Bruno make a sneak attack impossible - Camilo can infiltrate the enemy without being noticed - Julietta can heal any injured - Luisa is kind of obvious - Isabela and Anthonio: they are surrounded by a forest full of animals - Pepa has called a hurricane on her wedding day. Try to image what happens if someone attacks her kids

I always took Antonio saying "that's Bruno" as a sort of smug younger brother response. Like 'I'm younger than you and I'VE met him.' Camillo clearly remembers nothing with him saying he is 7ft tall and Antonio saw the opportunity to have the upper hand.

Couple thoughts: Delores' coping mechanism might be more about knowing things, even if she doesn't do anything with a lot of that knowledge. Knowing what's going on provides comfort sometimes. In terms of the male grandkids, remember that this is a strongly matriarchal family. Often, this means that the females feel a lot more pressure while the males are given a pass. We see that to some degree with the dads who are never given any real responsibility around the house.

So what I’m hearing is Mirabel didn’t get a gift because she’s the only mentally sound one in the family who doesn’t need therapy which, in the end, kinda causes the whole movie because she feels left out and not enough, and therefore needs therapy

I relate to Bruno, due to being the only boy in a family of three siblings, as well as being the third born. I also had a knack for picking the Kentucky Derby winners a week or two before the races (until I went to college, then the ability sorta went away).

What about Mirabel, though? Is she so healthy, she doesn't need one? Or (if we go with your previous theory) - is her coping mechanism to be in complete control, that's she is to become a new matriarch?

THEORY: Antonio also would not have received a power if Mirabel was not at the top of the stairs encouraging him and giving him unconditional love and support. Mirabel had nothing but expectations and pressure from her grandmother and if Antonio had that he would have not received a power either but he had Mirabel there, we know that she will reactivate the house and basically is destined to be the new leader of the family in the end, but in reality Mirabel already had the ability to enable the powers to be passed on and it already happened with Antonio.

Isabela. 100% That need to be perfect to make everyone else happy is .... really hard to overthrow. It's also really hard not to punish myself for not being, or creating something, perfect ...

I never really gave much thought to Camillo's connection to his gift, but what's interesting to me is two events leading up to the dinner proposal scene... Camillo's ability runs a muck first when Bruno accidentally bumps into the wall, which causes him to shape shift into everybody. And then when Dolores finally lets out the secret that Mirabel tries to hide about her being in Bruno's vision and word gets to him, Camillo's shape shifting makes his eyes bulge out, and a moment later his head reverts to that of a baby... I'm not sure if there's any significant meaning behind those events, but in knowing that he is a middle child on Pepa's side of the family, I wonder if all of that chaos caused him to doubt what his purpose is within the family...

I definitely relate the most to Bruno for a lot of reasons but I also really relate to Luisa feeling that "I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service". Bruno as I said I relate to for a lot of reasons but particularly I relate to him because of anxiety and OCD. Bruno shows a lot of OCD-typical symptoms including all the little rituals he does to ward off bad luck. Interestingly, someone else said this first, even his powers seem to sort of play into OCD and the tendency of individuals with OCD to try and predict and control the future. A lot, if not all, of the rituals and compulsions associated with OCD stem from a fear of not being in control, of something bad happening. People with OCD like me often suffer from intrusive thoughts and the fear that those intrusive thoughts might herald bad things. I know I personally struggled a lot with that in the past, still sort of do though I've gotten better. I knew it was irrational, but there was still this nagging feeling that "oh no what if by thinking about this bad thing happening now it's gonna happen?" And I'd do different things to try and ward off that bad thing, prevent it from happening, like telling my mother to be careful when I left for school each morning because I was terrified that if I forgot to do so then she might get into a car crash and die or something. A few times I did forget, and I had or nearly had panic attacks as a result. Part of how I knew I was getting better was that I was able to leave for school and not panic if I forgot to tell my mom to be careful. Unfortunately this pandemic has caused me to backslide a bit, and I fear I have fallen into some old bad OCD habits as a result. I should try to break them but it's not easy. Irrational as it sounds, those little habits bring me some comfort. So yeah, I can really relate to Bruno in that way.

Also, something I realized today about "the rats told me everything": What do you call someone who betrays you? A rat! What do you call it when someone tells an authority about the wrongdoings of someone else? They rat someone out!

I liked your analysis of each character, but I would add a little bit when it comes to Dolores. Another way to deal with stress/pressure is to be *constantly aware* of your surroundings, to the point that nothing can surprise you and you’re able to emotionally prepare yourself for anything. I think this is what Dolores represents-the need to know, and the need to know for sure. It gives her insight into Abuela’s exact wants, and allows her to prepare and behave accordingly, all the while never needing to ask.

I definitely relate to Mirabel. I've always been the mediator in all of my friend groups, and a good empathizer and sympathizer. My heart broke for abuela and I immediately put myself in her shoes and felt the pain of losing the love of my life, watching him be taken from me right before my eyes and it was heartbreaking. My heart went out to her even though she was a cartoon. I always have sympathized hard with tv show characters, been the "therapist friend" and the "parent friend" and I think, if the movie powers were real, or... first let's go with, if mirabel got a door, it would have something to do with seeing, psychology, or compassion. But that needs no door. I think she didn't get a door, because one doesn't need a special power to realise that their power comes from their compassion for others. That kind of thing goes without saying.

I always saw the gifts in sets of three. The triplets represents Past, Present and Future. Julieta can fix the past; Pepa affects the present; and Bruno can predict the future. Julieta’s kids represent Beauty, Brains, and Brauns. (Isabelle, Mirabelle, and Luisa) And Pepa’s kids represent See No Evil; Hear No Evil; and Speak No Evil. Hear is obv Dolores; Speak is Antonio cause he can speak to animals; and See is Camille bc he can help you see yourself (that’s a stretch though).

I've actually seen a theory that Dolores's gift comes from her wanting to always keep track of the people important to her. I mean she probably has all of her family's heartbeats memorized and certainly could hear a simple cry of pain or distress as long as it's within her range. Admittedly, that interpretation comes from a fanfic where Alma prioritizes her family's well-being over serving the village (not to the extent of cruelty but nowhere near canon) but it's definitely valid.

I always took Antonio saying "thats Bruno" as a fact not a question. But I relate the most to both Mirabel/Bruno and Pepa. I'm the loner and the emotional one in my family.

Welcome to the Amazing Madrigal Family's Hidden Magical Village...and Benevolent Secret Police State. One thing that no one seems to see: Abuela Alma is the original source of the village magic , using her grief from Abuelo Pedro's death to imbue the Candle with the magic, albeit inadvertently, but eventually destroys it. Maribel becomes the new source of the magic by healing the family. It is, ultimately, her very touch that reignites the magic. The early scene of her "Gifting" Antonio with the stuffed jaguar that she made by hand is possibly her first guidance of the magic from the Candle.

4:41 I think Dolores gets a really bad power. It doesn't seem like she can turn her hearing off, so she is in constant pain because the town is full of loud noises. Also a small detail is that Dolores is the only one with a sad face on the big family door when their powers returned. I think she doesn't like her gift.

Dolores' power is super useful for communication and information purposes. She can relay messages from long distances before they had phones. Her power also can serve as a warning sign if anything is wrong in the town or needs help.

Wow!! This video felt like a Psychology college course I really enjoyed this video. I related to Isabella for most of my childhood and Louisa for life as a stay home mom of four kids. I cried when she sang her song because it hit me deeply.

For me, I relate to Camilo. I have autism and for a long while how I “hid” my autism was mirroring whom I was talking to. In the autism world we call this masking. Masking is a complex and costly survival strategy for autistic people. It generally involves intentionally learning neurotypical behaviors and mimicking them in social situations. Sometimes masking focuses on hiding behaviors and personal attributes that people feel won’t be accepted. For me it even goes as deep as to hyper focus on how my toes are moving when I walk.

I saw Antonio's coping mechanism as communication. A healthy one. Mirabel is the one who encourages him to talk about his emotions. She listens and shows him how good communication works. This translates over to his gift, an extension of his love of animals, and his coping mechanism, communication.

The scene of the townsfolk getting carried away by the wind with their umbrellas will always be hilarious to me 😆

I feel like Antonio's is the best to have, because they near a jungle. We even see predators run inside of Antonio's room, jaguars are fast, but not fast enough to make it into a house, from the middle of a jungle, it must have been really close. Being able to know where every animal is in a jungle, is extremely useful when you live there, especially since it seems like Antonio can somewhat control them.

Hey Ben and J. What about the Incredibles? Did they get a miracle? Their powers also seem to derive from their personalities, like the Madgrigals. Could it be that it was the same magic that gifted the Incredibles?

I feel like their powers could have easily been used for power/evil/personal gain. I know abuela is super flawed in how she put so much pressure on them, but serious props to her for keeping the focus on community instead of personal gain. Dolores could have used her power to learn how to steal Mariano from Isa- but she put her cousin first. Camilo could shape shift into anyone. He could use his power to steal, to do some creepy things around women without getting caught… he could probably get away with anything. But the worst we see is that he uses his power to get seconds at lunch. Luisa could intimidate anyone into doing anything for her… she could control everything in the town just by threatening to use her strength to hurt someone Pepa of course could make it storm for days or not rain for months if she wanted… more leverage for power. Antonio could be setting jaguars and venomous snakes on people Julietta could be charging for her arepas like the US pharmaceutical companies charge for insulin. Lots of potential for a madrigal family of supervillains 🦹‍♀️ of course Disney would never, but I can’t help thinking about it haha

If I was a Madrigal, I think I would have three powers to choose from. 1. Is the power to mimic voices and other noises. 2. Is the the power to go into other peoples’ dreams and try to stop nightmares or night terrors from happening. 3. While my most likely power would be an empath that senses everyone’s emotions.

This theory might also explain why Mirabel doesnt receive a miracle; maybe at the time of the ceremony she didnt have/need a coping mechanism because of her personality and relationship with her family and the town?

I’m like Mirabel. My gift is empathy. I like listening to others and people tend to open themselves to me. I like encouraging people to be the better version of themselves. I used to put great expectations on my own. But now I feel free to be whoever I want to be.

I feel like both Isabella and pepa's gifts would help with crop production. Flowers allow bees to pollinate the crops and rain and lack of rain affects how well they grow

I was thinking why Mirabel had to "help" her sisters in order to save the magic. But now, analyzing that her side of the family (mom, Louisa, and Isabela) had more physically "useful" gifts that served the community but also made them suffer the most, makes a lot of sense. Mirabel had to relieve them from that pressure so they could all be more mentally stable and appreciate their gifts instead of thinking about those gifts as burdens.

Theory: Mirabels gift is breaking things. Luisas gift stopped working RIGHT AFTER Mirabel talked to her. She broke isabellas unhappy engagement, and actually WAS the one who broke the house, and the miracle. But it NEEDED to be broken so that the family could come back together.

Howard Ho also did a great *musical* breakdown of all of their powers, etc., based on the theme that they all play, and how the music affects the plot. Highly recommended, in order to really see the bigger picture.

I like to think that while Antonio's power was to be able to communicate with animals, Camilo's allowes one to talk to oneself (in form of a copy, a mirror image). Then Mirabel's hidden, non-magical gift would simply be (apart from holding the Madrigal family torch) talking to another people with understanding, of which - as we see during the movie - she is really capable of.

My theory is that Mirabel does get a gift when she was 5 years old but its not a superpower like others in the family received. I think Mirabel's power is that her emotions are connected with Casita's being. When Antonio was getting his power, Abuela started to point out about Mirabel not having a gift and looking down on her. And then Antonio got his gift just like all others in the family which hurt Mirabel even more because she felt like she's the only one left out in the family. When she was ignored & not included in the family photo, her heart (emotions) started to break which was exactly when cracks appear in Casita. Again when Mirabel was having a serious argument with Abuela, Mirabel was angry, sad and felt completely broken which is again reflected in casita's condition. The cracks that bruno (or is it Hernando) has been patching occured everytime Mirabel was hurting emotionally through those 10 years. And at the end of the movie, the family worked together and Mirabel was happy, so the miracle and its magic came back. And this connection between her emotions and Casita was given to her as a gift at her ceremony when she was 5 years old. She did not get a door like everyone else but i think this gift was revealed to bruno through his vision. The 'green prophecy/vision plate thing' shows that perfectly. Casita cracks or stays strong based on how Mirabel feels. I think Bruno or anyone else just could not understand that the prophecy/vision is not about future but it is actually the interpretation/representation of the gift that Mirabel has already been given

As others have mentioned, I think this also explains why Mirabel doesn't receive a 'magical' gift. Her gift is empathy: she can see everything from the other person's POV and have compassion for them. She also tends to see the positive in any situation, so she doesn't really need a coping mechanism. In her own door ceremony, maybe she wasn't wiping her hands off because she was nervous, but because she was giving herself a mental pep talk... sort of a "Let's do this!" moment. It's possible things start to go 'wrong' -- ie. the cracks start to form -- when her family & the village pity her for not receiving a gift. Her empathy causes her to take that pity into herself. Though her innate positivity fights to keep it at bay for years (hence the hidden cracks between the walls), she finally gives in to it at Antonio's door ceremony, which is when the cracks appear where everyone can see them -- the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.

You're the second channel I've heard this week theorize that Antonio was asking if the new guy was Bruno. "That's Bruno?" But come on, by the inflection of his voice, it's obviously meant as a statement to Camilo, "That's Bruno." If Camilo is only a bit older than Mirabel, he definitely might not remember his uncle and need the confirmation. Which, of course, Antonio easily does because "the rats told [him] everything," despite not having met Bruno until very recently.

I have watched every SB Video since 2016 and even have gone back through the catalog to when they were in separate rooms from what the camera angles shown. These socks are amazing! etc. thanks for all these years of content!

Mine would definitely be Luisa! Her song Surface Pressure honestly expresses how I feel majority of the time. I’m always going out of my way to help others even if it means I’m neglecting myself. I never say no when a family member needs help even though I’m exhausted, I still show up. And don’t get me started with my son, I sacrifice everything of me so that he can have everything he needs.

This is by far my favorite Disney theory, it makes the movie even better!

Awesome video!!! I especially appreciate the dive into how the other side of the family (Pepa's kids) was dealing with the pressure as that can become easy to overlook in the movie since so much time is spent on the three sisters.

Honestly I believe Peppa's emotional expression through her weather is a little at odds with what we have been told is the norm for how we feel our emotions. In the song "We don't talk about Bruno" Felix says their wedding was "a joyous day" and I believe that joy was Peppa's primary emotion on that day. Bruno convinced Peppa to feel her emotions despite the weather and when she did feel the joy that's what caused the hurricane. Even at the end when everyone re-recieves their gifts and is learning to utilize them again Peppa is happily dancing and what's the weather doing? It's hailing! I just thought this was a great way of showcasing that some people can feel emotions differently then what is considered the "norm"

Every time I watch the movie i can only think of how it’s possible that their powers serve/prioratize the community then the family in abuela’s like rein over the gifts but as mirabel starts to take over, maybe the magic can prioritize family then the community. Antonios powers just seem more personality oriented than some of the others do.

This makes me think of how I cope with things. I cope by laughing or making a joke out of whatever is bothering me. I actually didn't even notice that I do that until last year when someone pointed out that I was laughing when nothing was funny. Laughing just became my responce to everything. Like a few years before then I tecnically almost died. There was clearly no question mark at the end of when Antonio said that's Bruno he was confirming it for his brother who might not remember him

Two things: 1) You totally missed a "Geez Loueez ...a" joke opportunity there. 2) Antonio DOES know about Bruno at the end. Bruno disappeared before he was born, yet he has a smug little "Yeah, that's him" face when he says--**not asks**--"That's Bruno"

Luisa has magical super strength that helps her lift entire buildings. Her actual muscles are big but I doubt a non magical person could do that. And she can’t even lift a potted plant when she looses her powers. So we can conclude that she genuinely likes to work out and maintain a strong physique, which she probably was doing or wanted to do even before she got her gift

I personally resonate with all three of Julieta's daughters: Isabela, because I am the oldest grandchild of my family tree, and have the greatest expectations put upon, Luisa, because I instinctively carry the burden of helping others, while not having much else in myself to be proud of, and Mirabel, because I feel like the potential I have in myself doesn't live up to the family name.

I really love this explanation on coping mechanism I myself am using several coping mechanisms and now I feel like I can relate even more than before to the characters. Great work guys 👊👏👏

I think the powers have a (tactical???) use in the off chance anyone dares attempt to invade the valley and the Madrigals acting as the guardians/divine protectors of the people.But since there's not invasions, no seige, some of the members now have functionally useless gifts (Bruno, Doloras, Pepa to an extent).

I think I’m a combination of Dolores and Antonio. Like Dolores I like to just stay out of people’s way and do my own thing and peace & harmony means quite a lot to me. I’m happiest when everyone gets along and I avoid conflict at all cost even to my own detriment because sometimes I’m wronged but I’m so eager to move on to a happier place that I don’t speak up and demand justice. And like Antonio whenever I’m overwhelmed or stressed I hold usually a pillow very close to me. Alternates can be stuffed animals. I also feel a lot of healing when I’m around babies or animals. Just holding them or caressing them gives me so much peace, I can’t even describe it.

A gift could shape your personality as much as your personality shapes your gift. You be stuck being the healer for 50 years, your healing power is gone, doesn't mean your 50 years of being a healer isn't still ingrained in you. Luisa working out, she could have hated physical activity as a kid but made herself enjoy it through exposure because of the gift she received.

I have to ask, how powerful is Julieta's cooking? Like, if you get one of your legs amputated, could it grow the whole thing back? It seems her specialty is arepa con queso, but would regrowing a leg require a more complex recipe? Or would something as simple as a PB&J sandwich do the trick? And if you have a peanut allergy, will eating said sandwich get rid of the allergy?

So I've been trying to look inward a lot lately, trying to actually look after myself without feeling guilty about it, from the first time I watched Encanto I felt very connected to Lusia, but my coping mechanism is no where near as productive than hers and this episode made me cry trying to think about how I cope and the different coping mechanisms over the years

I relate to Luísa and Isabella the most. I feel so much pressure from those around me to be perfect and to put others before myself. I will also sacrifice what I want for what others want, even if it makes me uncomfortable or feel bad.

I relate to Dolores because every time she hears something loud and jarring it triggers the fear/shock response in her amygdala. Plus every single noise that is even remotely loud will hurt her ears. Which essentially means that she is miserable and in pain all of the time. I relate to this because I deal with chronic pain and health issues (September is National pain awareness month.) On top of that she is constantly hearing things that she might not want to.
