let me tell you something brother, when i body slammed that 1 ton andre the giant and broke every vertebrae in my spine, i took 20 years of andres life span, and when i was laying down in my bed, crying in excruciating pain, i could feel all the love and energy of the hulkamaniacs around the world so i stood up, took a plane and went to audition as metallica's bass player, brother.

I still remember when Hulk not only body slammed Yokozuna at KotR 1993, but also suplexed his ass. But then ten more sumo wrestlers stormed the ring. The Hulkster managed to down six of them, but then the remaining four threw a flash grenade in his face and held him down on the mat while Yoko just barely managed to pin him for the title! True story, Brother!

I bought Hogan's book for five dollars and for the price I purchased it for, it was worth it for the laughs. There was a story that may have substance to it considering this was the era of kayfabe. Early in his pre-Hulkamania years, he was driving the Wild Samoans to a show in New Jersey and a state trooper noticed his car was full of boxes. He asked Hulk for his registration but when he opened the glove box, there was a gun inside in order to protect himself because the wrestlers in Florida told him fans in NYC were hostile towards heels. He wasn't informed that carrying an unregistered firearm carried an automatic one-year sentence. So he asked Afa and Sika to help him out. but the Samoans reverted to their uncivilized savage headhunter characters and they wouldn't speak a word to the cops! Of course, we'll have no other source to verify this but I got a good laugh out of it.

As a newer wrestling fan who knows all of this bad stuff about Hogan going in to the fandom it’s hard for me to enjoy Hulk Hogans work at all. One of the first things that I learned about the business is that accidentally hurting your opponent while trying to have fun and put on a show is soul crushing. When I was a kid I accidentally bumped my friend off a tree we were climbing and she fell a good few feet and seemed non responsive . I was instantly crying and running to her house to get her dad, fortunately she was just messing with me but that fear stuck with me. So knowing that Hulk has willingly faked/misrepresented injuries to others pisses me off more than anything else he’s done. My friend and I were kids when she pulled that prank on me, but Hulk is a whole ass adult still doing this

Hulk Hogan granted over 200 wishes for the "Make-A-Wish" foundation and was easily the most requested celebrity during the 1980's. This was during an era where people had to use a land-line phone, or write a letter and put in the mailbox in order to request a wish. If Hulk Hogan's days were filled with highspeed internet he would've utterly destroyed John Cena's 600 and would have been easily the most requested Make-A-Wish of all-time.

@Paraone Ngatai you know most modern fans (i.e fans from the 90's and onwards) don't really care about the Andre match. And why should they? The 'flare of the moment' has long since worn off and besides the body slam the match itself was garbage and more remembered for the poor shape Andre was in at the time and only got worse. Fans look more to the Steamboat/Savage match nowadays for how it helped shape wrestling as we know it today.

@Paraone Ngatai Other wrestlers had body-slammed Andre the Giant BEFORE and AFTER Hogan did. Andre had never been pinned before and right up until the match started; Andre didn't tell Hogan if he would allow himself to be pinned. Of course, he did. It would have been hilarious if Andre didn't. Hogan would have been crying 😭 on Vince's shoulder. 😉

From what I've read, the company that promoted the now famous George Foreman Grill did in fact first call Hogan and offer him an endorsement deal. Hogan accepted and had a choice between a countertop pasta maker and a countertop grill. Hogan chose the pasta maker, which flopped. In the meantime, the company signed George Foreman and had him endorse the countertop grill, the rest is history. But wait, there's more. Seeing as how he missed in not choosing the grill, Hulk would later sign with an appliance manufacturer to make Hulk Hogan's Ultimate Grill...which also flopped.

The only possible scenario where Hogan might have at least been telling a variation of the truth is that there there might have been a guy in Memphis circa 1979 who obviously wasn't Elvis, but he looked like Elvis, dressed like Elvis, talked like Elvis, called himself Elvis, insisted that he was Elvis and he used to come to watch Hulk Hogan wrestle. Hogan said Elvis was a fan. So while it couldn't have been THE Elvis, it could have been AN Elvis. And now I know how a public defense attorney feels when they have to come up with a bullsh*t legal strategy for a guilty client who insists on pleading innocent.

Here’s another lie that Hogan told. To Undertaker no less. During an interview, Mark told this story all I give you the clip notes version; - Taker and Hogans first match - Hogan is worried about the Tombstone move - Taker says ‘you’ll be fine’ - Match happens, Taker does Tombstone, Hogan claims he’s in a lot of pain cause Taker botched the move - They go backstage and Hogan is in Vince’s office being a drama queen - Taker is legit worried that he hurt the ‘Golden Goose’ as Mark put it - Shane McMahon tells Taker he did nothing wrong, Hogan landed safely - Taker goes home worried. Then Taker sees the footage and finds out Shane was right - Taker goes to see Hogan at the next show and asks him about it now that he’s seen proof that Hogan should be fine. - Hogan makes a BS excuse about he was hurt somewhere else entirely than what he first said. - Taker doesn’t buy it, knows he’s lying but fakes in acknowledging Hogan was right and gets on with his life knowing Hogans a two faced liar.

Think it's partly due to the mainstream attention he had vs other wrestlers. Like other 80s wrestlers could be controversial and the news would only really reach those within the wrestling circle, but Hogan became a full on celebrity, so any wrongdoing became big news. Like imagine Batista having a sex tape and racism scandal now and compare it to...I don't know, Cesaro having one. Hogan's more notorious among the general public.
