Your reading at the end made me cry huge tears, full of sadness and regret. For all my 61 years I have tried to make myself small as possible fearing if anyone saw me they would reject me. The words where very beautiful. I have just ordered myself the card pack and accompanying book. Thank you so much.

Oh Pauline, I just want to scoop you up and give you a big hug. Please know that it is never ever too late to shine our light in the world. And that there can be very real reasons for hiding our light for fear of our safety or of being rejected. So please go gentle with yourself, be as playful as you can with the possibilities of shining, and look for opportunities where you can share your light with the world a little more. Sending you much love. xxxx

Thank you Amy for the beautiful poem! I’ve left my cave quite a while ago, but as last week I’d had my interview to become a full professor and head of department this is such a beautiful reminder of how how far I’ve come and how proud I am for shining my light in this world. As for shawls, I joined the MkAL and almost shied away when reading the cast-on…but I’m in saver waters now with the repeat section 😊

I 💜 wearing a shawl for that cosy comfy feeling and their ability to provide a pop of colour in your day. A much needed feeling on many a ‘Dreich’ day here in Scotland. I knitted my mum a Stephen West painting Honeycombs shawl and she is now a Big fan of Stephen’s designs and knitted several of his shawls. Thank you for lovely podcasts.

The Tarot card of Amaterasu really spoke to me. I felt like I was meant to hear your reading today. I am introverted and Mercury retrograde makes me even more so. I almost slipped 5 stitches when you mentioned the moths! I have been storing my yarn in plastic bags for the utility of it. I've had yarn that has discolored before I started storing in plastic bags. I am so excited for the Stephen West MKAL! This will be my first. I have wanted to do them since 2018 but I have not felt like a confident knitter until this year. And he says " say yes, don't stress!" So that is what I will do. Thank you for the information on how you rinse your Holst yarn. I love the look of men in kilts! Lol! I have had a fascination for Scotland for many years now. My sister-in-law did some research on her family heritage. It seems I married a man of Scottish heritage which is what I intended all along. Thank you so much for your uplifting podcast! 💚💘💜

When my sister-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 I made her a shawl using my hand spun yarn and mohair. It was a wonderful cozy hug that I could send her as I couldn’t be with her. She has since passed away but I’m comforted knowing I was able to make her feel a bit special and comforted, if even for a moment.

I‘ve discovered your channel probably a week ago, and since then I‘m constantly watching your videos. I didn‘t expected, that out there is another crafting lady loving oracle/tarot cards as much as I do. Your shawl videos are motivating me to start a knitting project. I can just imagine, how comforting it must be to wear such a beautiful soft shawl. Currently is on my crochet hook a triangle shawl, but it is turning out too firm, because I‘m crocheting very tight. So, no warm wooly hug yet, but hopefully with my next project! 😊

I've found your podcast so comforting recently, so thank you for making them. My favourite shawl is my Teroldego, which was gifted to me by my partner's mother the first Christmas we were together. Being a knitter myself, it meant so much to me, as I know the effort going into it and the expense that nice wool can be! And as we were together less than a year and long-distance at university half the time, we didn't meet too often at all, making it even more special that she put the time into it for me ❤❤

Thank you for this wonderful episode! I have a massive Hiraeth shawl on my needles (2/3 done). When it comes to shawls I love them in every way and wear them nearly every day. I especially love a shawl when I'm traveling. Then it can be my blanket, my pillow, my ear-muffs, and of course, my comfort. I so appreciate what you said about deciding to let a project go. I recently discovered that letting go of a mitt project that wasn't working released a whole lot of energy for the revised mitts that are now flying off my needles! Yea, the shawl wall. So beautiful!! So thrilled for your daughter and I can't wait to see her kilt making!! Thank you for linking that video! What a perfect card to reflect the times. I would watch just to hear you share the oracle cards! But I love the gorgeous knis, although I've only learned to loom knit hats with the circle looms in the past 3 years. I love the feather and scroll pattern cuffs. I want to learn to knit patters and designs on my straight looms so I can make myself a shawl Amy. You inspire me so! Carpal Tunnel surgery tomorrow so no crafting for me the next few weeks. Just recovering from Hurricane Ian cleanup...3 days of yard debris, 3 trips to dump. Now I'm down to the wire cooking for my surgery! The lacework on Pink Fizz is breathtakingly beautiful Amy! Seriously Holly looks psychedelic to me. That's probably why the colors don't show! It's mind blowing 🤯 Love Sophie's ascot💕 What a perfect Christmas gift 🎁 ( or a future giveaway perhaps? ) And the Alpaca hug!! Love the delicate pattern! So very pretty!! I love purple and I love spending time listening and seeing your gorgeous creations and color combinations. What a beautiful episode, thank you. You know, you are the shawl-enabler in my life! The first ever shawls I made were when I was 19 (well over 40 years ago): a triangular lacey one for my best friend and then exactly the same pattern in a different colourway for myself. I came across my one recently - it had long since been relegated to my kids' dressup box. My girldfriend's was in a relatively tasteful black and silver lurex yarn while mine was in a cream and gold lurex - which in no way tempts me to wear it again. But as a snapshot of my knitting skills at the time, I found it absolutely fascinating. I can't believe how incredibly even my knitting was back then, way more tidy than it is now - one of the perils of both my skills and needles having got faster. ! And then there are the things I would do differently now. Thanks largely to podcasters such as yourself, I know SO much more about knitting than I did then. For example, the long straight edge in the lurex wonder curls up because the cast-off is too tight - you've taught me the value of going up a needle size. Mainly I look at that shawl and feel so proud of that 19-year old who had no idea that lace was anything other than just following the instructions, one stitch at a time, and I think, you go girl! My light sure was shining at that moment. I've gone back to shawls during the pandemic and what I like most abut them is that they can be just so much fun to knit, especially when I pick a pattern when something is changing all the time. PS, love the wall of shawls as your backdrop, worth any number of squeaking floorboards...

I just knit my first Joji Locatelli shawl. Loved the pattern, the lone skein shawl. Your shawls are works of art. I really like the idea of the cuff and the one you have is beautiful.

This was the best episode yet Amy! I loved your poem Let Your Light Shine! I would love a copy to keep as I felt it was written especially to me! Speaking of shawls; I have recently bought a copy of Joli Loccatelli 's pattern for her latest shawl/wrap called Zeeweg. The meaning is 'The Way To The Sea'. We used to live in Cornwall and I loved riding my trike to the top of a hill and knowing that I would be rewarded by the view of the sea! The Yarn for the shawl has been bought for me by my lovely husband (we recently celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary) for my birthday, which like you, is in November. There has been so much going on recently, the birth of a fourth grandchild, 2 grown up daughters who needed sweaters and a friend who needed a neck warmer to name but a few, that although this yarn was bought in September, I still haven't cast it on yet. This will now be my birthday cast on and I can't wait! I don't live by the sea any more, so the wave pattern will be there to remind me of riding up hills and taking in great lung fulls of fresh sea air as I stopped at the tops of the Cornish hills!

WIll see what I can do about making copies of the poem, Caroline. But in the meantime, let me congratulate you and your beloved on your 44th wedding anniversary. And, I love that we share a birthday month - an upcoming birthday totally justifies a special cast on!

Picking your favorite shawl is like picking your favorite child, but I do have a couple I wear more often. Brickless by Martena Behm or The Wick Shawl by Helen Stewart. The most favorite gifted shawls were Debut by Katiuscia Bayslak...this I have knit several times and it always turns out gorgeous. I am looking forward to casting on Twists and Turns by Stephen West and also have another shawl Paris Toujours by Isabell Kraemer that I want for this Winter's wear....and maybe another Wick Shawl?!? 😀

Dear Amy, I have only recently discovered you podcast and what a delight it is. I have been working my way through the episodes and enjoying all of them . Such a comfort when I can’t sleep during the night (the other night I watched one of your links to the Rhinebeck as I’d never heard of it before- such a fab occasion). Your work is so inspiring and I love all your pieces but in particular, your shawls are amazing, so much so that I am now planning on making one of the Stephen West for myself. So, I’m being very bold in my attempts having never made a shawl before. I also don’t feel so guilty having a few knitting projects on the go at once; it’s much like how I read books - I always have one than one on the go. Thank you so much for your truly inspiring podcast.x

Hello Amy, I am currently knitting my second Cinnabar shawl. My first one I knitted for myself inspired by you, and the incredibly lovely one you knitted a few years ago, also with the Crazy Zauberball, for your grandmother I think it was. Now I am knitting another one for my oldest sister in Upstate New York where winters are very cold so I think the Brioche will be perfect. The one you are wearing is absolutely breathtaking. As usual, you are awe-inspiring, and lovely to watch and listen to while I knit away. Thank you!

I had never made a crescent-shaped shawl until I made one by Helen Stewart and was very pleased to see how well it stayed over my shoulders. It was quite heavy because I made it in local aran-weight handspun, and I ended up using it as a night wrap. It stays on so well and keeps me warm when the nights are shivery.

I love your shawl wall! I have told some of my knitting friends that say they can't wear shawl to look at your utube for inspiration. I have some beautiful wool from wooly mammoth fibre and gathered sheepbyarns that I have been thinking of using in a shawl. I ended up with a simple garter stitch asymmetric shawl. After trying some more intricate designs I was so happy to settle in to the simplicity of the shawl that I started while listening to this utube. Thanks , lorna sutcliffe.

I am joining my first every West Knits MKAL this year! I have knit the Dotted Rays and loved it. After trying a couple of plain shawls, and then ripping them back, I think the variety of stitches and the level of challenge of the MKAL is exactly what I need right now. Your Wall of Shawls episodes inspired me so much. It made me want to knit all of the shawls! Thank you for sharing your beautiful poem at the end of this episode...you are such a gift.

Always, wonderful visiting with you in this corner of the internet. I love the last poem, I love the readings and alll the knitting. I also have to be gluten free and am so appreciative when places go the extra mile. I had to laugh at the kilt socks. Can't wait to cast on the the twist and turns. I do also love that it takes you out of a comfort zone but teaches you skills like a master class. So neat!!! All the best, Kimberly

Finished my first Stephen West shawl, Brioband. It was a fun knit and I was able to practice brioche once again after several years of none. I'm now working on the Askews Me shawl with yarn left over from two sweaters for my nieces. The shawl will be for their Mom. Looking forward to the Stephen West MKAL starting soon. Thank you for your lovely podcasts. I really enjoy the card readings and seeing all your beautiful knits. So inspiring!
