@@Tekirai Not saying that he didn't have something to do with it, because he did. But she already had the platform (her personality, genuinely jealous, evil, and psychotic) ready for him to build on . In a way she was just as ,if not more, pitiful as Ruyi, because she also loved him, in her own twisted way. There was only one difference he never told her that he loved her , but he never told her in so many words that he didn't either. And since he knew that she loved him, he could (what you might say) turn her into a piece of Play-Doh, ready to mold into whatever he wanted.

I love Ruyi because she's true and honest not vile..she's cultivated, outstanding mean to be a wife, Queen, Empress whatsoever. I watch all of the episodes until the END 😢😢❤❤❤

The empress dowager was always right .. she may not have liked Ruyi at first but she learnt to like her too and saw her for what she truly was. She was right that the emperor’s heart was hard to her because it’s easily swayed by lust, power, and insecurity. Hongli was so much better as the prince .. after becoming the emperor and seeing his children die, these women scheming left right and centre , to constant allies, even he fell into the trap of becoming an unruly emperor 🥲. Empress dowager made sure to tell him he’ll regret it … in which he did and spent the rest of his lifetime regretting.

The Dowager herself have a lot of regrets. In the Empresses of the Palace series, we saw her in her youth, just like Ruyi, reluctantly entered the harem and then to have fight for power and survival. The Dowager was speaking from experience. Even then, she is not truly happy, as she watched the next generation schemed and manipulated, and watch her grand children die because of the machinations.

I feel like all the love the Emperor had for Ruyi immediately got lost after years of promoting her to Empress. He probably felt like his job and duty of protecting and loving her was over, and it clearly shows how he forgot about her.

I just thought of something I realized the true antagonist is not Wei yan wan, Jia, or even the emperor, it was the environment, the trials of the palace. Many of these consorts, members of the imperial family, and even servants are thrown into a deadly battle to maintain favor and power. Think about what Ruyi said to Ronpei before she died, everyone is under pressure to fight for power and favor trying to stay alive.

Wait I just had a realisation. Cutting hair = mourning But... She cut her hair as an act of divorce. So basically she is mourning the loss of her husband, despite being alive, it's because he is no longer the man she fell in love with, he's so different, not in the good way either and so she is divorcing him and is refusing to put up with what this, essentially, a stranger who's also her husband makes her go through. So symbolic I love it.

There is also another point When they marry , they knot their hair together. They are bound by hair and heart . She cuts off hair means, that knot is no longer there ,you are no longer in my heart .( Screw yourself, You are dead to me)

Think of the hand binding knot for for marriage also. When you break/cutting that binding marriage knot, it’s over. Certain marriages have that symbolic marriage knot that plays a big significance meaning, when looking into the research or symbolism. I may not get it, but it’s close to the idea, that they no longer bound to one another from the first and second time of the their marriage of being in the palace.

If only she knew all the evils her mother caused, I wonder if her assumption about her mother and Ruyi would switch. Technically in this drama the Empress started the whole thing off and had 3 or 4 concubines to help her carry them out.

You said that they didn't have anything to do with it they had a lot to do with a whole lot of stuff the one that had a heart and was really good with his second wife she cared about everything she cared about the servants he care he didn't see herself about them or any less than their but when needed she would put them in their place and let them know them but she really didn't even do that when all the others belittled the servants and their servants and everything and not only that their servants had a lot to do with it too because they were always Whispering agreeing with whatever came out their mouth and encouraging their behavior queen mother knew what she was doing because she was trying to climb up and keep her position to the point that even she killed his mama but eventually it's not like the others her desire was to do something else she was the best out of all of us he was a diamond in the rough and she became a shining star but he just couldn't see it

I think at this moment, on top of everything happening, Ruyi had the “First time, that’s a shame on you. Second time, that’s a shame on me” (because you’d have to give the person a second chance, and then the person still hasn’t changed) moment as well. He first laid hands on her when Consort Rong became infertile. And now this is the second time I think.

有過度解讀之嫌，她本來叫如懿就是皇額娘，真正發生改變的片段是她聽到穎妃說皇貴妃教子無方才稍微動搖。而這個動搖只是她覺得好像挺錯人當後宮之首而已。好幾個這種片段的分享帳號，斷章取義的部分很多。例如：東宮明明很多地方也沒有影片上說的那樣，沒看過完整的人被誤導成分高。

Actually after the slap on her face its like its a wake up call for her to leave the emperor, and end everything after he cut her hair. Before he was still a prince he called ruyi as his soulmate, his first love but after he became emperor its slowly changing, but the turning point was when ruyi became the empress the emperor totally forgot his love for ruyi, and when concubine rong came he taught his inlove with her and even say that to ruyi that it was his first time love at first sight it hurts, but even Rong can see thru the emperor that he loves ruyi, but his ego speak for itself he believe she cheated on him, and he was mad. As the Rong said to the emperor his confident that the empress(ruyi) will not leave him but he was wrong, ruyi fed up already.. she is a strong woman

如懿が髪を切った後に、公主が入れ替わりに部屋に入って来た前後の表情は意味深です。如懿が後宮の女性のﾘｰﾀﾞｰ役から退く事を驚きと少しの惜しむ気持ちもあるように見えます寵愛深く、皇帝の幼馴染みで常に特別な女性だった如懿は、公主の実母たる富察皇后からもっとも敵視されており、娘たる公主も一時は如懿を排斥しようという気持ちを持って行動していたようです。しかし、髪を切った如懿を見る公主の目は、決して如懿の失脚を喜んでは居らず、少しの残念さを感じているようにさえ見えます。ひょっとすると、ドラマの話数がもう少し多く儲けられていれば、何らかのエピソードが発生する可能性もあったのかな？と思いました。実母の最大のライバルを精神的に受け入れられなくとも、慈愛深く高潔な人柄が皇后に相応しい事は暗に認めていた…的なエピソードが、ドラマだけでも追加されていても不思議ではなかった、そんな表情に見えました。

This is just one of the many random thoughts I have about this movie. Rules of the palace: Definitely no talking back,even if you are right. 2. No thinking at any time.4.Even if you're being flogged, smile. 5. Always forgive your master for everything. And last, but not least. Never, ever even whisper that the Emperor could ever be wrong. Just one of my thoughts about the movie.

the translated title is nonsense with that logic, the only thing she "admires" from Ruyi is that she was able to divorce her husband on her own terms, unlike her own sorry åșš in the original novel, apart from that scene with Jingse vowing in front of her mother Empress Xiaoxian's memorial portrait, she actually had a conversation with Ruyi prior to her coronation where she basically states *Don't get too comfortable* and *Enjoy it while it lasts* (Ruyi later mentions this to Qianlong before her first morning greeting with the harem as Empress Consort (aka Jin Yuyan's piercing), and Qianlong dismisses it with "Don't mind her.")

@@amirarasyidah9091 1. because the Chinese title is "後宮如懿傳", hence there are multiple English translations such as "The Legend of Ruyi in Harem", "Inner Palace: Legend of Ruyi", "Imperial Harem: Legend of Ruyi" 2. a fan is currently translating it in English on 💡🗒 (currently volume 4)

in the original novel *Qianlong actually hits Ruyi in the face with his hand fan* moments after Yongqi died (and promptly accused her of instigating against Yongqi at the cost of his life), and that was the last time they saw and talked to each other

@@MJ-bv8jo Honestly, this is my most #1 Favorite Chinese Drama EVER! The main character is so different compared to other main characters from other series. Compared to Story of Yanxi Palace, this series paints Ruyi as someone more than the empress who rebelled against the emperor in the end. She more mature, caring, and this clip showed me how much I was missing! This series showed amazing character development & how peaceful a harem could have been in real life u know~ It reminded me of a quote from somewhere saying that "some people will never ask for your side of the story because the side that they heard fits the description of how they want to feel about you."

Nobody could have told me (and I would have believed it) that Ruyi actually knew him for what he was, but still loved him. Because if that was the way of it, Ruyi was more pitiful than I thought. Just think about it. You're in love with someone who doesn't give a happy about you, and you know, I don't mean that you think, I mean you know, that he doesn't care about you or anyone else, except for the sake of getting what he wants, and then has the nerve to think you should be honored to put up with his crap... well the only thing I can do is repeat Ruyi is pitiful. And to think, she put up with him for over twenty years.

@@romulansith Yeah, ain't that a blip? Makes me think that the whole harem system was put in place to cover the Emperor's behind. Well, at least she got to symbolically divorce him. Even If she couldn't physically divorce him, good ol' Yawan let him know exactly what it meant, that she was mourning for a lost husband, and that probably hurt him more than anything else could simply because he would have to live and die knowing what he had done to a person who had unconditionally (until he crossed her bottom line) loved him.
