I love the video and I can see how this is a common mistake. The video is also an example of how I know I'm getting old. Mike says, "I'm going to have Marshall give you and example", and it's Marshall Kent and I'm thinking Marshall Holman.

I love Mr 300 (Bob Learn Jr)’s. pushaway. It’s very simple, repeatable and very tuneable. Have a look at his legendary 1996 Flagship open at Lake Erie when he beat the best of that era.

I used a high push-a-way at a scratch tournament and qualified 3rd. I have a problem with a back swing because I've got too many muscles in my shoulders from working in the tobacco harvest. With a high push-a-way the bowling ball with a pendulum swing gives me a better back swing and results in a better release and follow through.

Not to long ago Jr Raymond did one that showed you should have zero push away with the ball, Rather let the ball just drop don't raise up or push away.. Not saying what is right or wrong. I did notice my ball speed climb almost 2 mph and a few more revs on the ball. was180 bowler now I very seldom roll under 600. So I know that the height you start your ball dictates a lot. I had a local Pro Gordon Bellamy jr tell me to raise my ball up to slow my speed, because it changes your timing and you will slow your foot work down to give your arm to drop naturally. I works too.

Holy crap I think I have finally found my biggest mistake. I tend to have a high push away. I havent been bowling for long but I would ask myself why they heck I dont have a higher speed being 6"2 250lbs lol I cant even hit 16. I'm sure there are lots of other mistakes I'm doing but I will start working on a lower push away.

I have a question, I struggle with slowing down my speed, do you have a video that talks about how to slow your speed down? I can't get below 15.8 miles per hour and I totally sucked at a tournament this past weekend because of that.

Why would you want to throw slower than that?
@troytrujillo8979
@troytrujillo8979 3 жыл бұрын
On high oil conditions or any oil condition where your ball is not hooking or making it back to the pocket you want to slow down and let the ball carry itself rather than increase RPM or axis tilt/rotation if you’re not versatile enough for that. Also more axis rotation can mean a delayed reaction as well so if it’s a swamp, throwing ball slower can help so much.
@egibs3565
@egibs3565 3 жыл бұрын
@@troytrujillo8979 you can throw the right ball for the conditions or play a different part of the lane. 15.8 isn't very fast to begin with 🤷🏾‍♂️

@@egibs3565 lol who cares the guy might suck at hand adjustments and only has 2 balls that don’t have enough hook for a sport shot so slowing down is 100% reasonable... we don’t know everything about the guy lol

The part that pro's don't do it. That it is doesn't work. That is what they said about two hand bowlers. But for the most part. That statement is obviously correct.

Good morning and thank you for the video. I would like to see one on the term I hear a lot called the flat spot and what is it ? Also when is the appropriate time to cup the wrist. When I don’t start cupped and can’t seem to do so once I start my push away and pendulum arm swing. 🎳
@jvmiller1995
@jvmiller1995 2 жыл бұрын
Flat spot is created a lot with the slide and also the ability to bend the knee and get lower during the release. Think of your shoulder as a fixed pivot point on a clock and when your hand is at 6:00 it is at it's lowest point. So as you come around to the 6O clock position you are sliding if you are a slider and lowering you body trying to keep the ball at the same height as your ball when at the 6 O clock position for as long as possible as your hand goes back up . So the ball will be at the lowest level to the floor for the longest time from 6 O clock to 7 O clock 0r so to give it time to come off the fingers after the thumb clears the ball. I hope that Makes some since. It gives you more time to have a consistent release. It can also be done without the slide. I think maybe Brad and Kyle did a video not to long ago. Not sure who for sure who it was, but I would like to see it explained here as well. Maybe the Art of Bowling channel too. Most of these Bowling channels are pretty good.
