as a NICU and Pediatric ICU nurse the pedialyte and formula videos really hurt my soul. I feel very sick over the accusations made by these people. Do these people truly think we health care professionals would give an infant formula or a dehydrated patient Pedialyte to hurt them? It literally goes against everything we stand for. It's misinformation like this that has caused children to die. You just need to do a quick google search to figure out death from infant malnutrition. Thanks Abbey for exposing these people!

I breastfed exclusively for 7 babies. The next 2 were very premature, nearly 10 years apart, and I did everything to only breastfeed. It wasn't enough, and they developed FTT and needed special formula through gtube after 6 months. The breastfeed for comfort but would be sick or dead without their tube formula. Donor milk has been unavailable to me. Remember, in nature, babies die. I'm grateful for live children (and I've worked in lactation. So it's not my first choice, but it's not about me.FWIW❤)

As someone who works at WIC (a USA government program that provides food and nutrition services for women infants and children) seeing that Bobby video pissed me oooooff!!! We promote breastfeeding as the best option but some people, for one reason or another, can’t do that. The majority of formula fed babies are fine with the standard formula but I’ve seen mothers struggle to find formula that their medically needy babies can even tolerate. They don’t need to be hearing this stuff from this guy and he has no business talking about it!! I also worked during the formula shortage(which I am still seeing the effects of) so I saw people desperate to find ANYTHING to feed their babies. There is so much I can say but I don’t want to be here all day.

The “gut healing” stuff immediately had me going NO because MY IBS would riot if I had that much butter. One of my triggers is DAIRY. How do I know that? I stopped eating it, and my symptoms improved. (But IBS also changes constantly, and my triggers now might not even be my triggers in ten years.) Starchy foods - particularly wheat and potato products - absorb my excess stomach acid which, yes, I make, and help mitigate a lot of my symptoms. IBS is one of the most individual diseases I can think of. I got it from my mom, and our trigger lists are completely different. You can’t heal my gut when it’s been fucked since day one.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure you've probably read about it, but I was researching L-glutamine to help retain muscle mass while dieting and read that it can help IBS-D. You might want to google it if you haven't. I was also on Ozempic for a bit and some people on it said it helped their inflammatory conditions, specifically IBS. It caused constipation for me so I switched to mounjaro, a similar drug with less less effects. Both have anti-inflammatory effects.

So interesting to see the correlation between food dyes and autism. My 8 yo is profoundly autistic and has always been extremely difficult to feed. His comfort zone is definitely with the heavily processed foods and that's very typical for kiddos with this diagnosis. Hello friend! Please remember that having a walkable area is considered a privilege, not a right, in America. Many big cities, like Austin, TX, have areas without sidewalks and car owners are downright hostile, so walking on the side of the road can be dangerous (trust me, I got hit by a car in a pedestrian cross walk when I had right-of-way and the driver didn't even stop). If you would like to learn more about this, I'd encourage you to watch something from Not Just Bikes. Many Americans rely on cars because of the oil and car lobbying which advocated for roads and over walkable areas, making walking around very difficult. Even going to a park, walking path, grocery store, gym, etc. may require owning a vehicle or access to reliable public transportation. Should people move their bodies more? Yes, no doubt. But it's much harder in America for a myriad of complex reasons. Additionally, Americans are looking for many fixes to their diet because it's just so much easier to get junk food than healthy food and ingredients. I hope that adds to your understanding of why Americans are struggling much more than the rest of the developed world!

@@karahoward4392 Hey, I'm part of the "had right of way, hit in a crosswalk at a stop sign" club too - happened in July. And again last night. Not even kidding, twice drivers have disregarded the full stop at a stop sign on me, with a myriad of other instances I plainly saw someone being inattentive and they would have hit anyone crossing the street. Last guy had the nerve to claim I popped out of nowhere when I was about halfway through the crosswalk when he rolled up to not stop at the stop sign. I wish more places were walkable, but when even the clearly marked pedestrian areas are still dangerous...it honestly makes me wonder how people are being taught to drive anymore. No stopping, no looking, no turn signals, no headlights on in rain or fog. All driver's ed 101 stuff that rarely happens anymore. Sorry, I'm still sensitive about it. In my defense, I feel like I just got run over by a car. 🤣

@@walterco7701 Oof. I'm sorry that happened! As salty as I am about being hit once, you seem to be taking it like a champ! The current attitude seems to be so "ME-ME-ME" oriented that many people have forgotten they live in a society with social contracts. Additionally, America doesn't value pedestrian/cyclist lives to the same degree for some reason. When I got hit, I was lucky that a cop was nearby, but he basically told me that because the car didn't have a license plate they weren't going to even try to investigate it. Better yet, many people hit pedestrians/cyclists and don't even get as much as a slap on the wrist. I could drone on forever about how we've prioritized cars to our detriment, but I'll stop here 😂😂😂

@@karahoward4392 I’m from Germany. Over here the car alobby is particularly strong. Still the drivers are in the weaker position in terms of prosecution, because cyclists and pedestrians are more vulnerable. Being in a car you are expected to be especially attentive towards them, so even if the cyclist “popped out of nowhere“, the driver should anticipate that these mistakes can and do happen, especially with children on bikes. If someone crossed a pedestrian crosswalk and was hit by a car, the driver would surely lose their license and be drastically fined.

Thank you for this. This measured, evidence-based clap back is super helpful when I'm trying to correct misunderstandings my family and friends have taken in from this type of messaging. Also, any of the influencers (in this video, cis-het men) trying to make parents (usually moms) feel scared or guilty about giving their kids formula or electrolytes also sends me into a rage. Right there with you.

Minimal heart disease one minor vessel. The cardiologist suggested I reduce my statin to twice weekly. I am a former cardiac nurse but always dealt with the acute phase so i dont know much about prevention. i am concerned about elevated A1C. I dont see much info on this issue but one of my brothers was on insulin until they changed his statin. I think we should be concerned about statins

After my son was born (22 years ago) I fully intended to breastfeed 100%. But I wasn't producing enough and he was hungry. I thought about formula but felt badly about it, since "breast is best". Our pediatrician, bless him a billion times over, suggested I supplement with formula. He told me NOT to feel ashamed, that I wasn't doing anything wrong, and that there were lots of folks out there who try to shame new mothers into doing things their way, but that, ultimately, I knew my child best and to trust my instincts. And that "Fed is best". I adore that man! A few years kater we were on vacation and our (autistic and non-verbal) 4 year-old daughter was feeling very sick. She vomited a couple of times, got very pale very quicky, and almost passed out. We took her to the ER. She had a stomach bug and the vomiting made her dehydrated. They gave her some Pedialyte and she immediately felt better. I wonder if that quack would seeing his own child in similar circumstances, refuse Pedialyte for them.

When I was 1st diagnosed with CML I developed an ED because I focused way to much on eating. Even years into my diagnosis I would find "health" influences that would suggest strict diets like all raw food or low sugar and honestly none of it works. It's all the opposite of what you want to do. I wish I found your videos then so I could stop restricting myself so much and relax and just eat what felt good and eat the rainbow.

Sucrolose destroyed my gut. I went on vacay and forgot my Creatine supplement (Naked nutrition, plain Creatine) I bought one that had sucrolose and drank it every day for 4 days, by the 5th day I had burning gut pain and diarrhea, burning indigestion in my stomach and throat. My whole body was inflamed. I should have known better, because I’ve reacted to other artificial sweeteners in the past and Stevia makes me have asthma response possibly due to the fact that it is from the ragweed family.
