That seems to be the consensus from the comments. The history books do not agree with the people as I figured.

I was born to older parents too. They were depression era/ww2 generation .I'm in my early 50s. My Dad was 49 when I was born. My Mom was 38. My Dad was in the Army in WW2 loved Eisenhower as a general. He shook his hand once before the invasion when he inspected my Dads regiment before the Dday invasion. He ran the Army so my Dad thought he'd be a good president.

I love that you're in Michigan. I've adopted it as my new home for the duration and we're about to move the whole clan to a new homestead here in the southern lower mitten, 3 generations planning on 4 on the same property. I'm trying to stay optimistic, but we're preparing for other scenarios that we won't like as much. To put it mildly.

Thanks MR. I, too, was raised by older parents. My dad was born in '21, my mom in '27, so they grew up during the Great Depression. My dad also flew a fighter plane in WW2, off the Yorktown, CV-10. He didn't much care for Roosevelt at all. I was born in '64, and feel blessed to have been raised by that generation. I learned a lot from the old timers as well. One of my dad's fellow pilots filmed things during the war, and made a film out of it called 'Return of the Fighting Lady'. It's here on youtube, posted by a guy named Laurence Futrell. It's about 59 minutes long, and my dad appears at the 22 minute mark. Check it out if you'd like to see what life as a Navy pilot in the Pacific was like. He mainly did strafing and bomber missions on the west coast of Japan near the end of the war.

Absolutely right, MR! My grandparents (born in 1882 and 1885) and my parents (born 1914 and 1919) all talked about how it really was. Mom grew up in Dover, England, and lived through WWII and rationing over there. All wars are bankers wars!

In Pennsylvania the CCC camps used a lot of local boys. They were worked hard, but better food then some would get at home. As a kid head many stories but the camps

Eisenhower was an honorable man. They say that JFK used to call him and ask for his advice from time to time, they had become good friends even though they were from different political parties. Great video, interesting topic. 👍

Better 2 parties than this thing now where everyone is on the same side- theirs, not ours. I so wish the honor hadn’t gone out of everyone.

I was just saying yesterday that I remember news reels about Ike and Him being president when I was a kid. I like Ike Buttons were still around then too. Kennedy was the first president I knew more about but I was in 3rd grade when he was assassinated by the CIA boy were we lied to by Johnson and so many others. Made Carter Look Good.

No doubt the CCC was communistic, big government stuff. However, they did construct some things that have stood the test of time in National parks, etc. Watching some of our YT preppers melt down over Trump convictions. Taking a break from the language.
