I'm getting ready for my road trip to Alaska and I recently bought the REV'IT! Expedition GTX Boots to replace my old TCX Hero boots.
The Expedition GTX Boots promise superior waterproofing and enhanced protection, however, I encountered an unexpected issue that I believe other riders should be aware of.
The issue I encountered is with the shin pads. The shin pad on the Expedition GTX Boots is so thick that it makes the overall diameter of the boot opening quite large. This design aspect prevented me from pulling my riding jeans over the boots.
In an attempt to find a solution, I purchased the REV'IT! Discovery GTX Boots, which appeared to have a slightly thinner shin pad area. Unfortunately, I faced the same issue-the shin pads on both boots were too thick, and I couldn't get my riding jeans over them.
After much trial and error, I realized that the only way to comfortably wear these boots is with textile riding pants. Textile riding pants have a wider fit around the legs, accommodating the thicker shin pads of these boots. While this works it's not ideal as I prefer wearing riding jeans as compared to textile riding pants.
I haven't seen this issue mentioned in other reviews, so I wanted to highlight it in my video to help fellow riders make a more informed decision.
