I was a sleep walker as a kid and into my college years. I lived in the country and I would wake up in the woods. When I first went to college in Fort Lauderdale my dorm was a block from the beach and one time I woke up about a mile from shore as I was swimming. I then payed extra for a single room and started do what Steve does every night at bed time. This brought back memories. When I moved to Chicago I went to a sleep clinic and therapist and don't do it anymore.

I'm admittedly scared to watch the series because of the potential (and probable) poor portrayal of DID. It's a diagnosis that is so misunderstood and often villainized in media (see Split, Sybil, etc.). I'm hoping that it won't be that way, but I will wait until you give your analysis until I see what you say.
@EhrineAshbark
@EhrineAshbark 2 жыл бұрын
I'm hopeful they've done a reasonable job. Oscar Isaac read up a lot on DID to try and understand it for the performance and they did consult experts. That being said, the director has gone on record saying that he hopes they treated it respectfully, but that they did over dramatize it somewhat due it being a supernatural world.
@Swenglish
@Swenglish 2 жыл бұрын
@@caelencat3787 So far I think they're doing a pretty good job of showing the separation between what's DID and what's mythical Marvel magic and what's just character-specific as opposed to symptomatic. Something I think Split's biggest problem was failing to do.

I was a sleepwalker as a kid. One night I dreamt that my mother was calling me from our basement. I got out of bed, walked down the hall, through the kitchen, opened the garage door, went into the garage, opened the basement door, down the stairs and into the basement. I was halfway up the stairs on the way back when my mother found me having heard the door open. She shook me awake on the stairs. This completely terrified her. It was not the first time I slept walked, but it was the furthest and most dangerous episode. For months afterward, my mother would place a heavy piano bench across the hallway at night to either block me from leaving the hallway or wake me up.

So glad to know sleep eating is thing! About 6 years ago I was going through a lot and I started waking up in front of the fridge and I had been gorging myself. It was certainly alarming but I never considered it was a form of sleep walking. I got out of that situation and it stopped but it’s interesting to look back on because I was in my 20s as opposed to being a teenager. I remember I was also losing time whenever anxiety set in. I thought it could have been the medication I was on but my therapist also said I was dealing with alot emotionally that I just wasn’t used to.

This is so true on sleep or lack thereof. I once stayed up for 72 straight hours in college, cause I was worried, that if I slept, I'd miss my finals since they were all in the morning at 7am. HAHA. Yeah by the third day of no sleep I thought the mini fridge in the dorm was breathing and asked my roommate if she saw it breathing too. Her first response? "Mare how much sleep have you had?" My half little sister was a sleepwalker. I used to wake up at 3AM to see her not in bed. I didn't know what or why it happened. Sometimes she just stand in the middle of room or in the kitchen and we just had to lead her back to bed or she come to my room. She outgrew it though and now I understand why it happens. I'm a sleeptalker-and walker. I always know when I did one of the two. My dreams are more vivid, and I remember them better. And I'm never well rested when I was active in my sleep. Sometimes I wake up with bruises, or wake up because I've ran into the closet or the wall. Sometimes I wake my partner up (poor guy). Mostly comes in stressfull periods, but outside of those periods, I sleep like a baby angel. :)

While I'm not a sleep walker, I can interact with other people while still asleep. I've been able to text to my normal ability and one time I let my room mate in and had a conversation with him about how red my eyes were during a nap. The only reason I noticed was because things were moved around the room and all the keys were inside and the door locked.

I love these videos! I think some of the inaccuracies you mentioned that Steven is experiencing might be intentional? I think one current theory of the show that New Rockstars I think put forward is that he's intaking information wrong about the world around him, generally speaking, or that the world isn't what it seems either due to his mental condition or due to Khonshu. For example, he apparently recited some slight inaccuracies about the Egyptian gods earlier in the episode, even though there was an Egyptian historian on staff for Moon Knight. We'll see it pans out of course, but I look forward to any future analyses about Moon Knight!

I will say miss Dow, I have a case of Epilepsy caused by Cortical Dysplacia. When I was younger I got trained in martial arts and every single time I am free I do my training routine to keep my physical health up. The type of seizures I used to have were granmal but when I got older I got Absent seizures and I slip in and out of trances if I meet certain conditions but luckily the seizures have faded for 11 months but my friends have told me when certain situations happened and people physically threatened me I have seem to have a sense of space and reaction to incoming things when I am in a trance. Only those who approached me non-threateningly were able to guide me to a chair til I snapped back and they tell me what happened 5-10 minutes after. Fine motor skills seem to be uniquely accessible and it seems I act on auto-pilot when I am unconscious, there used to be cases when I was asleep and training and I woke up sore the next morning and my room-mate wasn't sure if I was awake but from this akward way I moved and from a "lack of a vibe or not responding to speech" he could tell I was in a trance.

I used to sleep walk when I was young. I'd wake up down the street sleeping under the tree with my cat. I've also had violent episodes. Once, in high school years, I thought I was being attacked. I cracked my bed in half, threw my dresser across the room and ripped a light fixture out the wall. I've even attacked a person once, but I've figured out it has to do with stress and fatigue.

I sleepwalk and sleep eat and sleep talk but only when I'm very stressed out. there was about two years where I was working seven days a week. I'm an in-home geriatric nurse so I would have a patient during the week days and nights and weekends I would care for my bedridden grandfather. And it was during this time period that I would get up and sleepwalk and sleep eat and sometimes while sleepwalking I would peek around door frames and stare and it would scare the crap out of my husband. Luckily for me my dogs would always wake me up. I have a pitbull who I rescued and she is literally my baby. She sleeps in bed with me and whenever I Sleepwalk I would stand unmoving in one position and my dog would notice I was behaving weirdly and just standing and staring so she would paw my leg and her claws on my leg would always wake me up.

I don't think he does it anymore, but my brother used to sleep walk in the middle of the night and go to the bathroom, just straight up in the pitch black. I would wake up in the morning and have to deal with pee all over the toilet seat and floor. I swear that he hit everywhere except where he was supposed to. That was pretty annoying to deal with.

Not sleepwalking, but I have some fun parasomnia, specifically hypnopompic and hypnogogic hallucinations. Essentially, when I am transitioning to and from sleep, my brain projects dreams into my waking senses. I've punched my wall a few times thinking something was attacking me. It's connected to my hypersomnia, which is similar to narcolepsy. While my meds have dealt with the hypersomnia, I still get the hallucinations every few months.

I would love it if you would react and breakdown some characters from this anime called Attack on Titan. I feel like you'll have a field trip with it.

I get the feeling Steven picked a random podcast that had a title he liked, assuming it would help without checking if the person who made it was at all qualified to talk on the subject.

I kinda "sleepeat" from time to time and i dont like it. Messes with my diet a lot and sometimes the things I saved for the next day are like gone. However strange thing is that most of the times i remember doing it, but at the moment couldnt stop myself, which is strange. I have tried to have minimal amount of food in the fridge and one time i "woke up" in the middle of eating the cats treats...I have never told that anyone, dont think it is THAT big of an issue.

When I was about 10 I use to sleep walk . One day my dad said in the middle of the night he heard the front door opening ( our deadbolt was loud when turned ). He looked around and opened the door to see something in the middle of the street...It was me laying in the middle of the road. I'm lucky my dad heard the door and was able to pick me up to take me inside .

@@Poke-ladd in the comics there were several darkholds. And Ghost Raider kept it in the dark Dimension, Agatha could have easily snatched it, maybe Ghost Raider or at least Robbie was snapped or something?
@BrokenNoah

@@Poke-ladd Ghost Rider hasn't been introduced in the MCU proper. There's a version of Ghost Rider - the Robbie Reyes one - in the AoS timeline which has diverged from the main MCU. Rumor has it as reported by some sites that the MCU might use the Danny Ketch version of the Ghost Rider instead. Who knows at this point. The Darkhold in the MCU was kept by Agatha Harkness prior to Wanda getting it.
