Mauhúr was actually mentioned in the book. When Uglúk's band was heading towards Isengard, Uglúk says Mauhúr and his group was somewhere to the north and would be meeting up with them later.

Great Battle Report! Looking at starting up a Ranger force of my own. Couple things though: Mauhur is a character in the books, not a GW invention. Also Heroic March can affect all friendly models within 6” or just the hero who called it, controlling players choice, but you can’t charge while under the effects of a March!

Unlucky dice rolling for the Uruk player but the terrain was a perfect layout for the Rangers to shoot at clear targets for their entire approach. That said, running the Uruks straight up the firing lanes without using the walls and buildings for cover (only exposing them to fire at the end, as was commented at the end), placing the heroes in front to be killed first (like, duh) and not using Heroic March / At the Double to clear the gap rapidly pretty much guaranteed the Uruk's defeat.

Great bat rep - loving your work. Heroic march does affect friendly models within range, but cant be used to charge into combat. Keep the vids coming!

Great battle report! And yes heroic March works for everyone within 6”. Can’t wait to see more of your videos, just subscribed. Can’t wait to play my Rangers of the North in a tournament. They are my favorite army. Currently converting Rangers of Middle Earth and Riders of Rohan to have mounted Rangers.

The scenario is quite in favour of the rangers, allowing them to just sit and shoot the entire game is what they want to do, so enabling them to do that is quite a favour. Maybe the rangers should also have to move their models to the opposite edge then that would be more dynamic maybe. Maybe the Uruks stole baby aragorn and they two rangers to go save him? Anyway, thanks for the batrep. Nice atmosphere, good luck getting better.

48:00 spear supporters always add only 1 attack and the Pikeman couldn't have died because he wasn't in the fight, only supporting. What a game... this was like a fever dream!

@@TheTabletopAlliance concerning the terrain: when building a town you could try and line it up diagonally. That way you don‘t get straight and empty firing lanes between deployment zones. May have helped a little by providing cover along the trajectory the uruks needed to take xD

Loving this, just found you guys and not seen battle reports for Middle-Earth so first one I've seen. Just an FYI, my eyesight is pretty bad but this might be the same for others too, the battle cards going from bottom to top was so much more clearer and easier to read compared to the left right one. Might make it a bit easier for reading them quickly for those of us who haven't got a clue about them haha.

This was great fun to watch! I've got an idea, hear me out! Dunedain rangers vs. rangers of Ithilien BUT not against each other. See, they are starting from opposite sides of the table facing each other and in the middle there will be third army of orcs marching through. So this will be an ambush, quite similar to what Ithilien rangers did against Easterlings in the movies, but from the both sides of the road. And a challenge is to kill more enemies than the other ranger group. So Legolas/Gimli sort of competition. Either use third player to control orc army or homebrew some kind of automation for orcs. For example, depending on dice roll they run in random directions in panic or attack the closest ranger they see. One way to determine direction is to roll d20 and when it lands you look up at the number and which way it points. Or paint an arrows to one die. I don't mind if majority of orc never make it melee fight but are shot full of arrows instead :D I don't know if this is even new idea but I have never heard of it and just came to my mind :)

@@WMfin bit of food for thought in regards to automating the orcs, you could have it so that who ever loses priority controls the orcs. It would be similiar to one of the scenarios for battle companies where there's an npc troll on the field and you have to kill it....can't for the life of me remember the name if it though :/.

Clearly the most brutal shooting phases I have ever seen xD Bravely played by the Isengart-player though, nice job, both of you! 03:30 actually, Mauhur is not a GW-character but one from the books. So far as I know, Vrasku is not canon but a development of GW ;)

I feel like I've been waiting ages for the next battle report and with my two favorite factions no less! I was thinking there could have been more cover for the Uruk-hai to hide in the approach but those dice rolls were insane. lol Might even be worth a replay of these two factions with a different scenario--maybe the Dunedain have to rescue some hobbits that are under attack or something.

Don't know if you have found out since you posted the vid but heroic march effects all models within 6 inches of the hero that calls it. Even the scouts would add 3 inch to there move. But I'm loving the effort you guys put into these bat reps with the background stories ect.

Actually, the march counts from the moment the heroe moves. So if you want (f.e.) to charge with other models, you can do this and then move the hero and other units afterwards with the march (then you may not charge)

I was simply referring to the fact the models within 6 inches area also affected by the march not just the hero which is how they played it in the game. I didn't say anything about the hero has to move first lol

Love the hypothetical matchup idea. This is tough to call. You don’t want to be outnumbered by Uruks, but Arathorn is pretty decent. I think it could be a marginal Uruk win, as long as the bows of the rangers fail

Was wondering would you do a total of all the characters on the board per turn? And watch the numbers on the screen go down when each character gets defeated. Don't know if there is a way to show that on screen.

That would certainly be cool! Might work well for specific scenarios rather than every game though! Such as a kill count competition or something :)

Loving these battle reports just finished this one, this was hard to watch for Isengard just too much ground to cover before getting in range. Maybe next time some buildings in the center to give cover because this was a slaughter for 56 minutes.

Why do you reroll when your even? You roll a 1-3 its evil or 4-6 its good.

I'm sure many people will have mentioned their tactics underneath but here's my idea Would have gone for Lurtz LL and made them all marauders. Add in a drum, that makes them movement 11. Then you can also march (does effect units) making them ridiculously quick Even with the lower defence, they simply wouldn't have enough shots to stop 4 units getting over the line

I think that the Rangers and Uruks are actually well characterized in this RPG because the Uruk-hai are canonically barely trained beyond basic drill work and marching in formation due to the haste of their production in Isengard. The rangers, however, are the spec ops of this setting.

A bit hard to judge because Jake's dice rolling was statistically improbable (to say the least) :) , but I'm not convinced that GW have their point costs right for the Uruks. I think a 3 to 1 ratio of Uruks to Rangers (or perhaps 5 to 2) would be a fairer representation of the actual abilities of the combatants. Also, I understand the reason for rolling in the same dice tray from a video creation point of view, but it does have the downside of dice interference. I would imagine when you are having a battle that isn't being filmed, you either roll in separate dice trays, or roll on the table away from the minis? Edit: I have just checked the points costs of the figures again and find that the Uruk to Ranger ratio is pretty close to 3 to 1, so ignore the first part of my comment :)

That was definitely a fun game to watch! But if I may ask, how come that you are re-rolling when you get a tie on the duel rolls? I thought that the rules say that in this case the side with priority rolls one dice and on a 1-3 the evil side wins and on a 4-6 the good side wins. Am I missing sth here?

No it was just a house rule we used to always do. Prefer a re roll over the 1/3 - 4/6 rule. But we have sinced changed it so we don't confused viewers ;) haha

It would be REALLY helpful if you showed the armies very clearly at the start and went through them. I know you did your pan thingy but it's really nice to see the army presented before the battle. Helps with understanding what is going on.

At 39:00, why did you re-roll the dice for the fight a few times? In a drawn fight (equal fight value and same result on your dice), you just roll one dice to determine the victor 1-3 evil wins, 4-6 good wins.

Yeah we know. But it has always been a house rule for us that we re do it. But we've done in the proper way in more recent battles. Because people complain about house rules 🤣🤣

I actually kinda like the house rule compared to the official rules, ngl. Feels more in the spirit of the game, always felt a little silly that it can go from heavily unbalanced to 50/50 just because of a tie.

A bit of a spam terrain setup. Isengard needs to pass over a tiny bridge with everyone hiding behind walls on up on the heights. We all knew how this was going to end without even seeing the battle
