Jim Ratcliffe has officially finalized his highly anticipated Manchester United Takeover by purchasing 25% of the shares from the Glazer family. This deal gives Ratcliffe and INEOS the reins over Football operations.
What does this deal mean for Manchester United fans? Did we miss out on the Qatar deal?

Merry Xmas. You are very right. An important point that is not mentioned enough is that Man City managed to become what it is today mainly because they put in charge of Football the two Barcelona guys. They brought in Pep and everything they did since was done based on that plan. Ofcourse Pep is a good manager but he is one piece of the puzzle. So if one can combine a good plan with money the result sooner or later will come.

For me its 10 times better than nothing. Sir Jim taking over the football operations is actually the most important thing for us now...we are a complete joke of a club in all aspects football wise. Just bringing in a DOF who actually has experience building top teams will help us alot. John murtough and Fletcher have zero merit in performing in the roles they currently have and it is setting us back many many years

The coming in of Qatar meant a clear out of everyone... We miss used funds and that doesn't mean Qatar would have been the same. Remember Qatar was not funding united but buying the club fully and putting thier own structures without the Glazers. The said what they wanted to do and it was clear, you cant go namedropping on positions of an organization you have not buy. I am happy with the change, maybe it will be positive for us.

So the bidder that stated from day 1 that he'll buy 100% of the club , clear the debt, invest into the stadium and playing squad, all using his own money.. was ambiguous.. while the bidder who simply said he'll put the Manchester back into Manchester United and never clarified anything else until he was certain to win and even now has mentioned nothing about future buy out of the Glazers.. thats the "clearer" option??? Also, how on earth did u reach the conclusion that Sheikh Jassim was gonna simply throw crazy amounts of money into the club while keeping its existing structure and people??? Changing the football management was always gonna be step 1 regardless who won the bid, its not ground breaking stuff. Ultimately regardless of our preference Sir Jim won, thats the reality plus it wasnt our decision as fans to begin with so no need to fight over it. Im willing to give this a chance and hope its better than the last 18 years, but this analysis of the qatar vs sir Jim... i find it obsurd...

I think that what the glazers have done by giving the football operations to rattcliffe is that they are not responsible for anything that happens on the pitch. If we start getting results then everyone is going to forget about the glazers. If we keep losing then people are going to point fingers at sir jim rattcliffe and Jean claude -blanc etc.

Thanks for being one of the best sources of insight into Man Utd on YT. I really enjoy your insights, honesty and enthusiasm. My Q+A would be, how could the club better support the kids who suddenly find themselves with a million quid in the bank, but practically no adult life experience about how to deal with such radical life change. Lots of young players go off the rails, act as if they're above the law and rules of the club etc. How could Utd best serve the youth coming through regarding dealing with the sudden fame and fortune, or conversely, what is it that they have in place at the moment, and why is it failing some of the young players? (think of all the recent scandals) Is it working, given some of the petulance and foolishness we're seeing on and off the pitch. Keep up the great work and I hope you start getting invited onto the TV shows - you have way more value to offer than many other Utd YT pundits.

I am not quite convinced yet, but as a united fan, I believe SJR will do a better job than the glazers. But this could be their plot to gain the control back, they clearly understand how to put the proper people on Tampa Bay, they're doing that to United now. I still think we need a better owner than the Glazers to dominate the league like we used to, but I do think SJR's move to put experienced people on the footballing structure is a step on the right direction.

Hello Scarlet Report, You are doing a great job and is one of the few fans with a level head and actually understands things on and off the pitch. My question is, if Ratcliffe plans on making a fan forum or something for opinions from fans, how would you express the necessity to rejuvenate the Old Trafford atmosphere? I don't see the fans who actually get the previlage to watch matches cheer the players up when we are 1 nil or 2 nil down, leading to a dip in morale and unnecessary losses. Let us know what u think.

Mr. Scarlet report thanks for the job well done and merry Xmas. I would like you to analyze in Man U in terms where the system fails to solve some problems that seem very obvious to us all. Remember since Michael Carrick we have struggled to replace that midfield, since the rooneys, Chicaritos & Vanpersies we have struggled to replace that strike force and ofcourse since the Vida & Rio combo we have struggled to replace them....i remmeber one think abt Sr. Alex's united whenever opponents thought we were done... he could pull out one or master stroke transfers that could rejuvenate the team...look at what Mancity is doing despite their very good squad...

We had officially hit rock bottom since this glazers sole ownership can't possibly get any worse at this point. Now it would only go upwards. I hope the new leadership sets up a new club struture as soon as possible, and if that's done, it would be a good sign. Here's hoping for a great transitional year of 2024 we finally deserve.

Here's where I disagree, Jim's plans of hiring specialist for the job roles only came to light after the deal was agreed with him in principle. Until that agreement was reached we had no idea what he was going to do. So you can't say that Jasim couldn't have put out detailed plans for the club if the deal was agreed with him.

Agreed. What United must learn is how to walk away from deals, where a reasonable price. Example a player is valuated at 40 mill. The you dont end up paying 80-85. You walk away from the deal. We saw that with Antony deal, Hojlund, Mount deals. This is not on the players, this is on the leadership at the club. You dont stubbornely insist and inflating the price. You walk away, and find other players, there is always another out there.

Huge fan here. Sir Jim Ratcliff, based on the rumors, seems to entertain the idea of sacking ETH, esp in favor of Graham Potter. That seems like huge error if that is just a thought, imo. Merry Christmas. While I agree with you that just money can't solve the issues we have. We need efficiency and the right people for the job, it cannot be disputed that we would need a lot of money to make the changes we need to make. For instance, Marcus doesn't look like he's playing for the badge. If he keeps up on this trajectory, to make a difference in the team, we would have to get rid of him. And no club would pay that wages of his, so we will need to pay him off then buy a replacement. We need money for things like this. How do you reconcile that?

Mad respect for you and here are my comments: 1. I think it is presumptuous to think that the Qataris will not bring in the right people and leave the same people in charge after purchase. But clearly SJR has a much more public and well known football people so it might seem he comes with better football pedigree and plan. 2. The Glazers are smart business people, they sell 25%, bring in SJR to fix the football problems, value goes up, the 75% left is worth much more. 3. Practically, everything is fine and dandy if SJR fixes our very big football issues. But I struggle to see how this arrangement works if things get worse. It's like saying I sell 25% of my restaurant to someone which has 100% say in my kitchen but I can't do anything if that person turns my kitchen to an even worse shitshow. 4. The only reason I prefer the SJR deal is that Man U is a very well-loved club which has always been about the values, the steep history and the spirit of fans/club, and I think SJR would preserve that a lot better than the Qataris, who are all about the money and one guy's ego. Don't get me started on the recent World Cup and the very dark side of it.

As City is owned by Arabs, PSG is also owned by Arabs... Compare both teams and they're run. Money isn't the issue at Man Utd, it's getting the right people to run it astutely, not square pegs in round holes.

Like you, I am never for the Qatar deal. First, Jassim's Dad is worth 1.3bn. Combined asset probably put them at 2-3bn. He was bidding 5bn? he's not doing a LBO but he's definitely getting into some debt of his own. It will become the same situation as the Glazers. Jim Ratcliffe is worth 6bn and he's bidding 4bn. Do the maths. Secondly, the setup..... Sir Jim was clear all along on the setup he is pursuing and people he has in mind to bring in to run the club. Jassim was everywhere tapping into former players. With due respect, I think handing the club to former players to run will be a disaster. As you pointed out, United problem is in the administration. Sir Jim's option help us to improve that. Nowhere has Jassim mention anything practical beyond what we the fans want to hear.... get the glazers out, clear the debts and make more money available to buy more players. Lastly, i don't like the tune of Jassim's team in their releases and etc. It sounded too dreamy and pushy. This tells me either he has no idea what he is going to do with the club or they are so confident they would clinch the deal. It is more of the former. Firstly, they responded to a "tender" with 100% variation, ie a full buyout instead of the majority investment option. No one would put them as the number one bid if there is compliant bid that comes in. So Jassim became an alternative. So if they put things across in that tone, they are really clueless about how things work. One question I like to hear from you is on Old Trafford. How do you think we could get OT up to mark effectively?

True, true. But explain City. Rather than making comparisons with Chelsea, why not compare to City. In the modern football game, money talks. How can we go toe to toe with City every season with Ratcliff and the Glazers at the helm is still questionable to me.

Happy Christmas my fellow United Fans & Scarlett Report Master, This part takeover is a positive development in my opinion. However, there are SO MANY things that need fixing at UTD. Where do we start? Please give me the top THREE things that need fixing FIRST and why? Rgds, Coach GAYLE Dec 5th 2023

I won't get too excited, but I hope he fixes our problems, because the teams all around are stronger, sixth place can no longer be a guarantee.

By that I mean if we continue to struggle, we could look at a relegation in a few seasons time because all the clubs are getting better.

Merry Christmas everyone! With Ratcliffe and team in charge of football, do you think ETH will still be the manager? Or a replacement manager is coming in?

I really hope the best happens with Sir Ratcliff takeover. However, without spreading any negativity, I feel it's just a business move for the Glazers to bring in a friend into the business. I see Ratcliff a British, the next prospective manager Potter a Brit again, Piers Morgan trolling United a Brit, Sancho having a 'megastar attitude' Brit, Lingard Brit, Rashford not wanting to perform Brit. Is this something we need to be afraid of?

I do not agree on sacking ETH. I believe if he has a proper structure behind him he can be a success

There are rumors that Sir Jim is not a fan of Ten Hag, do you think this is just boulevard press or is Ten Hag actually not the right manager for a INEOS lead team?
