Well in his case it wouldn't make an ounce of difference, He had detailed notes of the crimes and the amount stolen, the gun linked by ballistics to the crimes with matching ammunition to what he shot at every scene, matching disguises, matching vehicle in his wife name, etc. It's like when you played hide an seek as a kid and got away with a spot for so long that the seeker gave up, if that ever happened to you the likelihood of you explaining your spot and all the close encounters is likely because you know that it doesn't much matter anymore but it is funny to describe and take pride in your spot.

Agreed! That was a really stupid move, fuelled by impatience. 1. What motel in their right mind would have a maintenance guy knock on the door, for routine maintenance, of an occupied room? If you disturbed me for THAT, I'd be pissed! He should have been suspicious, and he blew it off anyway! At the very least, they should have faked an emergency, like a gas or water leak, and used an FBI agent. Or, cut the power and have HIM complain. If he took that hotel employee hostage, they would have looked really silly! 2. If they were that afraid of him, they knew somebody was in there. They should have just waited.
