Doing the first 2 or 3 minutes of the task really helps. If it's doing some work on your laptop, open it up, turn it on, sit down, and type a few words. Once you've done that, it's way easier to carry on and do the rest. But it makes getting started a lot easier because you're only consciously committing to 2 or 3 minutes of the task.

I have this little habit of visualizing what I want for the day before getting up of bed, I say to myself "today I will do this and this" and I give myself some encouraging words to set the best mood. Hope this can help someone else!

​@@taeheechoi6938 Dr.K mentioned in another video i watched that making lists can help. It helps your brain to know that it doesn't have to keep track of all the things alone. The brain likes to know that it has a backup stored somewhere basically.

@@taeheechoi6938 What helps me is taking a few conscious deep breaths (you can count to 7 or smth) to break that negative thought cycle and then show yourself some empathy like you would a good friend. Choose one and I mean only ONE thing to do that day and imagine how accomplished you will feel when you finish it. One thing is better than none + once you move you might find yourself starting a new thing after

I started to pay more attention to what I feel and learned that playing on a break _drains_ energy instead of recharging it. Maybe because of dopamine, maybe because of concentration required, I dont know. But I'm much more reluctant to game while the work in not complete. After that - great, I can reward myself if I still want to play.

I noticed this too. Having dopamine up from a fun break makes the relatively low dopamine from work seem insignificant in comparison. Later in the day, the pleasure received from dopamine is lower, so we should put easy, high dopamine things later in the day, but not right before bed. The last thing we want is to spike dopamine with maximized hits, we just want a steady flow of it from work, then later when the dopamine is less effective, from high dopamine play. Aim for serene, BORING breaks so the dopamine from work feels like a hit!

Resume thing is so appropriate because I just filled mine out yesterday. Something that works well for me is I’ll set a condition for a reward so: if I can complete my resume before I need to go into work I’ll call out for the day (I hate my job hence the resume update)

I just lost my drivers license because of a technicality at this same point, I was on my last month and when I went to do it, they needed my new address processed weeks BEFORE I'm allowed to renew it, so the deadline passed... but now I can't do anything but wait for the address to be processed before I have to retake the tests..

People avoid that thought because it forces them to make the hard decision. That's why mindfulness is so useful, you need to be aware and conscious to force yourself to look at things as they really are, on autopilot you'll probably trick yourself into not looking at the real consequences

Simple. Have so much anxiety that you can not rest until things are done, thus motivating you to get all of your tasks completed early so that you can relax without needing to think about looming to-dos. Double-edged sword but effective.

You just have to do it in action. Do the task that takes the fastest to be done, break it down and just do 1/100th of it. That's just gonna take 1 minute, after that you can go back. But then you realize you are no longer on bed with you phone but on the table doing the work. And you just keep doing it.

That's great but what do I think instead of "I have to wait for blah blah blah"? I am paralyzed and feel like I can't start until I get help but a part of me knows it's an excuse (I need to organise my apt after a move). I also have 2 young kids and it's hard to find time to do stuff.

I have 2 small kids too.. I started lifting weights 6 months ago and for the first time in my life I'm exercising regularly. I started with 5 mins, anything counts and the small wins will keep you motivated

Every time you're paralyzed, shut off your criticizing brain and do something no matter how small it is. This is common when you hold yourself up to a standard, like if you starting organizing your house, you want your house to look like some influencer's house or whatever vision you had in mind. Instead, acknowledge that your vision takes time, you just need to take action, no matter how small, how imperfect it is

Problem is, the "how I want to wake up tommorow" thought never ends, I always want to do better, but at what point can I stop and tell my self its ok to not do anything today and just enjoy this short life we have? Because if I stop for one day I start feeling guilty for every second im not doing anything productive, and subsequently,g going through these waves of self achievement and guilt drives me not to ingage in anything at all from the get go.
