Hi Paddy, That type of durian called Pa la-u, it's a local durian of Prachuabkirikhan that quite expensive one. You should try durian "Mon-Thong" the popular and common one in Thailand and the cheapest as well. Most of Thai people love to eat the fresh durian that crunchy outside but soft inside and very light smell but some love half ripe durian which still taste good. Do not buy a too ripe durian or a frozen durian cause it's mushy, very strong smell and leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

I was given a slice of cake at a birthday party, unknowingly it was Duran. First time I ever heard or tasted it. I immediately spit it out on the plate. Everyone had a good laugh at my expense. It was truly nasty to me.

I absolutely appreciate you for sharing your road trip with us I myself was born in Bangkok I have not seen Thailand for more than fifty years My home town is lem khlong samsam makkasan district ratchathew Bangkok. I only lived in Bangkok for twenty years and I don't know the outside of the city until I have watched your young man videos that is how I learned about the whole country of Thailand. I agree -we’ll look back puzzled with the “logic”with some of the Covid restrictions…close the restaurant and shopping malls & grocery stores a couple hours earlier as if Covid comes out only at night…or some beaches, parks are closed ( depending on the city or province); yet, it’s ok to be packed on the Skytrain or be shopping. Outdoor venues should be open as long everyone is social distancing.

I met my Thai lady in Hua Hin one of our first dates was a day in the hills and lunch at monsoon. Now live in Isaan with her. I'm not fussed about Durian prefer mango & pineapple, both taste wise & baht wise🇹🇭

I’m so inspired that you’re on a mission to lose weight. I went on a mission and reached my goal and now staying steady. From over 200 LBS down to 185, and dang it feels so good to be slim. The consistency of durian is like a cross between mangos and avocado. Not every durian taste the same either, so maybe you got one that is not fully ripen. I think you got the westerner price for the durian, especially for a small one too.

had some Durian today. got one here for €32 - Morn Tong. it was heaven. ripe and sweet and creamy - first time is always a no.. tasted like a sweet microwaved onion... then boom your hooked . See if you can get the top dog - Gan Yao Durian. its sooo good

My wife’s parents have been selling durian for over 20 years now. She said especially this year new sellers have popped up out of nowhere. Quality will suffer. Takes experience to know when it’s just the right time for it to be eaten!

Monsoon actually have a voucher that has lots of good discounts if a regular. We go there for the view and change of scenery and in general the food is great (much better than the wine). Another nice video Paddy.

1- Your videos are getting better and better. 2- Hino is a Japanese brand of trucks. 3- Congrats for your 100 day challenge! You can do it! But still, enjoy life and eating. A beer from time to time is permitted :) 4- The drone views are amazing, there is so much green to look at, it is peaceful. 5- Your choice of music is always excellent, especially the soft ones, the jazzy ones. They are relaxing and help focus on the views. More extended views please. Also, the girls singing on the boat the other day was an incredible moment and it's great that it was not cut! The sunset views were gorgeous. 6- I look forward to the next episode. Cheers from Canada!

I’ve never tried Durians either. Looking to try. Me and my Wife saw Duran Duran in Ft. Lauderdale two years ago. Like the song Paper Gods. If that was Florida that probably would have been Fire Ants in you helmet. That never crossed my mind about ants getting in my helmet. Thanks for the Heads Up. As for the price of the Durian, well your a good Ambassador, you just have to smile. I’ve got 45 days till I get there to Pattaya and out of ASQ. I’ve stopped the wine, am running every day and am eating healthy as well.

Good on you for trying Durian. LOL I have tried it with Jib a few times, I hated the first time, and after the 4th time having it I didn't mind it. But yeah, the flavor and texture are... unique.

You can see it in your face the water loss from cleaning up the diet. Well done sir. I've switched to 95%+ of my calories are vegan (started 1.5 years ago) and ice never felt better. I do crave meat at times but rarely indulge. Great job!!!

Durian wrapped in puff pastry leafs baked for 20 min is heavenly, it caramelizes and the texture gets more custardy. Once I defrosted an imported durian and forgot about it until the smell reminded me after a few days,..it was the opposite of heavenly I can confirm..

Congrats on your first (and perhaps last) durian. Yea, Patty Doyle! I personally like blue cheese so I like durian, but just like stinky cheese, it's not for everyone. I would recommend durian ice cream instead of the fruit for a first attempt. The price they quoted is a bit high. I get frozen durian at the Asian grocery store in USA for about $10 and there are more pieces than what you got. Usually I eat durian in its frozen form. The creamy mouthfeel makes sense that it should be eaten as an ice cream.

Try durian ice cream Paddy - you will soon be addicted. So proud of you giving the booze away. I haven't had a drink for five months and six days. It isn't always easy (especially in Australia and/or travelling) but it's so cool to wake up every morning feeling healthy.

Your first durian experience is not much different than mine. I’m still not crazy about it but the second time I had it it was much better than the first. Also, you certainly got the farang price. In CM at the moment the prices are easily half what he quoted you. Not much of a market left what with all the Chinese gone but at least you made his day.
