. . . I'm going to hide this tape when I'm finished. If none of us make it, at least there will be some kind of record. The storm's been hitting us hard now for 48 hours. We still have nothing to go on...One other thing: I think it rips through your clothes when it takes you over. Windows found some shredded and bloody long-johns in the trash but the name tag was missing. They could be anybody's. Nobody...nobody trusts anybody now, and we're all very tired... there's nothing more I can do, just wait...this is R.J. MacReady, helicopter pilot, US outpost #31.

Wife could not get the lock off the shed to get the shovel. Worst snow storm we have had in awhile. I had to get a pipe fitting torch out to heat the lock up. It was dark, and creepy walk out to the barn. I had to play this, was so fitting.

I remember there were a couple of times while I was stationed at Ft Riley when the driver's hatch on our Bradley was frozen shut so we had to have the mechanics come over with a blowtorch to melt the ice off the padlock and hinge so I could get the dang thing open.

OMG! I have been looking for an extended version of this John carpenters magnum opus for years. My search has now ended thanks to this monumental peice. I tip my hat to you sir. I have seen all kinds of horror movies growing up did they scare me yes did they disturbed me no The Thing (1982) directed by John Carpenter is the only sci-fi horror movie to have scared me and disturbed me a lot more than any other horror movie ever created but not just me it disturbed and scared my whole family and all of my friends and we are usually tough at watching horror movies growing up we also put The Thing (1982) as number 1 on top of our list of horror and it's the only movie we have given the highest score 10/10 as well:).

Actually there are several sequels. Not in movie form but as video game and as comics.... Not bad but no sequel can ever catch up with the original in most cases of any horror franchise.

I read somewhere I know you can't believe everything you read but it said that originally Carpenter intended for neither man at the end to be infected and had allegedly filmed a scene of both men in the hospital after being rescued getting the test done and both being clean

Imagine, it's a cold winter night and it's snowing four feet in fact and you're walking down an empty road back to your house when then you see a humanoid figure standing in the darkness in front of you while you can't see them clearly you can at least tell that they're wearing some kind of winter coat with their hands in the coat's pockets and you ask them who they are and if they're having a problem but they don't reply rather they just stand there and despite the creeped out and uneasy feeling that has passed over you, you've still managed to gain enough strength to quickly walk by them which then finally you're at ease and you even see your house in the distance when you hear what sounds like moaning of something inhuman and otherworldly coming from the darkness behind you and quickly out of fear you run back to your house and lock the door behind you and close every other door that you know leads outside and bolt the windows as well as pull the blinds down on them before hurrying up to your bedroom crawling into bed pulling the covers over you hoping to God that it's nothing when then, you look out the window beside your bed and you see the person from earlier but all of the sudden, they turn into a horrifying monstrosity with large teeth and tedrils and now rather than hoping that it's all nothing you just hope it'll be over soon...

Cool! I was looking for this exact style from the movie to listen to on "Loop" for over 12 hours straight. BTW I am ex-Government and that location is still TOP SECRET and near Hitler's German Sutherland when the Aliens" kicked Admiral Byrd's A$$. Our Military never went back there again. You can see entrances in that region thru Google Earth (if they haven't blocked it already) Just like the North Pole is restricted as well.(ALIENS) Near the same area where Obama invited others to see the Annunaki and space ships under ICE.(Fallen Angels? Not sure) Ask Buzz Aldrin cause he saw something that really got him excited.(We have bases on the Moon and Mars according to my DARPA contacts.
