Probably one of the greatest character reveals in cinematic history, yes I said character, Chitty might be a car, but this movie characterised the automobile. Quite possibly one of if not the greatest movie vehicles in cinematic history. I’m 21 and grew up with this gem of a movie, my grandfather showed this movie to me as a child, unfortunately he has now passed on to the other side, but his memory lives on every time I watch this movie. RIP Sally Ann Howes, Lionel Jefferies and Benny Hill and to my Grandfather🥺❤️ Legendary movie this, and a timeless classic❤️

The build Up from the previous scenes, to the in-scene tension and angst of the transformation, to the out of nowhere reveal. The doors slowly opened as the majestic music played and she was revealed, GEN 11, the most beautiful car ever made, basked in all of her glory. Simply amazing moment as in my opinion, on of the best scenes and best build ups to a scene in movie history. The pacing was on point, it was prolonged yet it wasn't rushed. The cast and crew for this film should be incredibly proud of themselves for scenes like this and the movie itself

When I was still just a kid, my dad and I would have serious discussions about how Caractacus Potts could of managed to restore "Chitty" from the wreck she was, into the beauty she became - all by himself. The wrecked "Chitty" was put into the barn nose first, and the restored "Chitty" emerged nose first; this means Mr. Potts picked up every piece of "Chitty" and moved/rotated the component 180 degrees, including the frame which probably weighed 200 kilos by itself!

Chitty would always be grateful to Mr. Caractacus Posh for restoring her and giving her new life. She would from this moment on serve the Mr. Posh and his family as her family.

When I was little and watch this on TV, the music from the Maaco commercial played in my head at the part where he was welding the car 1:55 because it reminded me of the same image in that commercial. "Uh oh, better get Maaco!" Funny how that's stayed in my head all these years.

If you listen you can here the music for the song you two when chitty comes out and its almost like chitty is saying thank you to the kids . Also the fact this is purely a act of love from a father to his kids is lovely.

I could never figure out how Potts was supposed to have rebuilt/restored and modified the car in a matter of "days," as Jeremy tells us. However, the car really was magical, so it's possible the spirit that dwelled in the car "helped" Potts rebuild it in a matter of days. The book explains it more clearly. The GEN II license plate tells us that a genie resides in the car, a magical being. In the book, Potts is aware of this. In the book, it takes Potts many weeks to rebuild the car, and packages arrive for him every day containing the different parts he's ordered for the restoration. Later, there are knobs on the dashboard that say "Pull" for the wings, or some other gadget. The book was a fantasy Bond book for children, with a gadget-filed car, a colorful villain, a lady with a suggestive name, intrigue, and spies.

The montage shows a weeks long restoration. Jeremy's comment, "He's been in there for days!" refers only to the final push to finish the car, in which Caractacus disappeared for several days in an obsessive effort to finish.

I get quite emotional when I watch this scene in the movie, because I have very dear memories of my mother taking me to see the movie, the very week it was released back in 1968 It was showing in the long closed down cinema The Plaza off western avenue in Cardiff I'm now nearly 62 and my dear mother is approaching her 92 no birthday So many years ago, but it will live long in memory Thank you mum, for everything, your so dear to me, you cannot know

My top 3 big moments in a film are this, Shadow coming home in homeward bound and Rocky getting up from the knockdown in round 14 of his first fight with Apollo. All 3 of these moments sum up the whole film/series of films.

mazdaishpahan Finally, I've gotten the answer I have wanted since finding out the James Bond crew did this film. I always wondered why the Bond films before and after this film (until Spy Who Loved Me and/or For Your Eyes Only) didn't have the same visual quality. Thank you.
