Things like fats and cholesterol or even sugars are harder to teach in a short presentation, too easy to get lost in the biochemical weeds. Meanwhile, ignorance will drive statements like, "I don't want or need any cholesterol!". "OK, you are now a puddle of goo, since every one of your cell membranes are made of cholesterol, not that you'd care with your advanced Addison's disease coma and utter lack of sex hormones"... Or one physician on youtube talking about how poisonous (yes, he used that word) fructose is. Sorry, doc, but compared to most species, my liver is the size of Quebec and converts it handily to glucose, no fuss, no muss. Hell, as hunter-gatherers, we evolved eating shit tons of fruits! Or that the liver produces cholesterol, it recycles it and we use cholesterol in converted form to digest food and make vitamin D. Now, unpack all of that into 8 - 15 minutes and not put your audience into a deep coma, but entertain, that's art!

@@Nobody-Nowhere No. Fats from animals are saturated fats, not trans fats. There is nothing natural about trans fats. Trans fats are created by highly processing veggie and seed oils and are found in veggie and seed oils used in deep frying in every restaurant. They are also found in products like Crisco and margarine sold in all supermarkets. There are no animal fats in margarine or Crisco shortening.
@trail.blazer
@trail.blazer Жыл бұрын
@@Nobody-Nowhere There are many processed foods that contains trans fats. It is only a US legal requirement to be able to declare zero grams of trans fats per serving and they are allowed to round down. So the manufacturers reduce their portion sizes to get 0.49g or less of trans fats, then they can say zero in the ingredients label. If you use shortening or margarine for cooking, then they will likely be high in trans fat. Beware microwave popcorn, non-dairy creamers, many commercial baked goods, deep fried foods and frozen pizza. The trans fats found naturally in small amounts in animal foods including read meat and dairy are generally not considered a cause for concern. It is the chemically altered trans fats in processed foods that are harmful.

When sugar is metabolized, the fructose is broken down in the liver, where a side product is cholesterol. Sugar also spikes insulin, which is pro-inflammatory. Insulin shuts down the use of fat tissue, so when you have sugar in your system, you will not burn fat tissue. Insulin also creates fat tissue when that sugar isn't needed by the cells right now. This cycle happens over and over.
@lorijudd2151

@@CivicFiberglassDoor absolutely, but you forgot to add that the body uses blood sugar first before it uses fat cells for energy. One of the easiest ways to reduce blood sugars and help burn fat stores is to eat a very low carbohydrate diet.

I can give you a tidbit of information if you're curious; there is a specific type of bacteria in the gut that only eats sugar, and the more you have sugar the more it releases a hormone into the body that forces you to crave (and Ultimately consume) sugar.

Hi there. I am 66. I used to be overweight and was plagued with several chronic health conditions for decades. My metabolic health was not the best to put it mildly. I had a fatty liver condition. I had edema, which is excess fluids causing swelling in the lower legs and feet. I had occasional high blood pressure and COPD symptoms - wheezing, coughing and shortness of breath. I was losing teeth, bone and muscle mass. I was also suffering with peripheral neuropathy and more. About two years ago i changed the way i was eating. I began intermittent fasting aggressively by eating just one big meal per day, and have been doing it ever since. Intermittent fasting is perhaps the most powerful thing you can do to lose weight and improve overall health. I stopped eating all sugars, and drastically reduced my carb intake. I stopped eating all breads, cereals, pastas, etc. I stopped eating any highly processed and all fast 'foods'. I prepare my own meal every day using only fresh organic, non GMO veggies, mostly produced by local farmers. And the meat proteins and dairy products come from local free range farmers as well. In just two months of eating this way, i lost about 60 pounds of excess fluids and body fat without additional exercise or increasing activity levels. And over the next few months, something truly magical began happening. I began reversing all those chronic health conditions described above. Even that stubborn peripheral neuropathy is gone, and the COPD symptoms. No more cough. No more wheezing, and no more shortness of breath. And i am still a modest smoker. Imagine that. Now i exercise more, and am much more physically active. I am healthier and stronger now than i was ten years ago. It is kind of like aging in reverse.

This video explains why my "cholesterol" is up. With food prices the way they are, I have had to incorporate more carbs into my diet. I picked potatoes and legumes, for nutrient value, and the fact that I can get those unprocessed. I still eat fairly low carb, but I have been asked to consider a statin. My LDL is getting higher in ratio to my HDL. Now that I am armed with this information, I can make a better decision. Thank you!!!

Bruh this video is underrated, it explains such an important process in the body occurs and why we have so many cardiovascular issues nowadays. This is why at my 24 years of age I am severely reducing my sugar intake. Sugar is not good for us in any way shape or form, and even though it provides us with glucose, which is a source of energy for the body, we are already able to produce as much glucose as our body requires without producing excess, but having an increased intake throws that out of balance and a domino effect of things occur. We've been lied to for so long.

Bruh, well done! I have been gobbling up data about cholesterol and sugar in recent years and, as I've learned much of what you went over here, I couldn't help but to feel betrayed by the medical establishment for misrepresenting the problem. The culprit has always been sugar and, I believe, there are multiple reasons why this is largely unknown. Primarily it's just business. Corporate interests (big pharma, big agriculture, etc) have a financial interest in propagating lies about cholesterol and sugar. Big pharma wants everyone on statins forever and big ag wants their processed sweeteners in everything we eat forever...so they push coordinated lies to make that happen. This is just one example of how corporate interests will be the death of us all, unless we learn the facts (thank you for that) and act on what we learn. Good job!

I teach nursing students and it's funny that you used the description of an Amazon delivery guy. I used to say a fed x or ups guy delivers, and the garbage guy picked up the boxes and such. Very nice, a good lecture. You Tube could use more like this.
