My attention span is only short if you test my patience, like if they say “Watch the video to the end for a surprise!” It’s usually a trick and I fall for it way too much so that’s what triggered my attention span, but if you keep it interesting and reasonable, I’ll keep watching like your livestreams. From start to finish I stay in your livestreams because they’re interesting, funny, and entertaining, and also gives me motivation to draw (I’m the 5% btw, I watched the whole video)

I watch horror movies and stuff all the time, so my attention span isn't super bad. I usually prefer long form content, so i dont have to keep scrolling since i usually have a snack while on youtube. I do have ADHD and that does mess up my attention span sometimes, but taking meds for it helps a lot. Im on the younger side of gen z that is barely graduating middle school, and i'll be honest! I get so tired of it when my friends cant sit through a film with me without playing adopt me...

this reminds me of a video MrWhosetheboss made a year ago I think which was about some of WhatsApp's new features, it was right after WhatsApp added the feature to speed up voice messages and he had a similar fear because if you use the voice message at 1.5x or 2x speed you'll eventually get used to it and your interactions with regular conversations at regular speeds will become boring and maybe even problematic for you. it's the same for the videos and I feel sorry for everyone who is stuck dealing with the repercussions of the stuff we're all exposed to and not just the ones who are experiencing it, the people who have to deal with those people are gonna be affected as well.

I swear ever since i starts middles school years ago and now I’m a senior in high school I’d say my gen is cooked. Bc I used to use TikTok and I still do but I believe mines and others attentions spams were severally shorten. Like it’s hard for me when I’m actually focused on something to focus since everyone is on a phone all the time I’m guilty of the same. I feel like if only some gen z who were raised right can make a bright future with the right kids we may not be cooked but if we continue like this, Idk what to say other then “were cooked”.

As a fellow artist I agree that it has saved a bit of our attention span, also I mainly listen to video essays, which range from like 20 min - 4 hours depending on who it is, usually the ones I watch are like 1-2 hours tho

I am 16 and i will admit i fell victim to Tik Tok content in 2020, but i quit using that app in that same year. I fell victim to KZfaq shorts too, but i downloaded an app to block KZfaq shorts on my phone and laptop. I am glad i quit before it got bad. Nowadays i try ro read more books to expand my vocabulary. I replace time that i would be spending on short form content reading a section of a book instead.

I stopped watching tiktok all together about a year and a half ago cuz I realised my attention span took a nose dive but thankfully its back up and better than before. One thing about this is funny to me is when i tell people my age that I don't watch tiktok anymore they look at me as if Im committing a cardinal sin and I should burnt at the stakes like calm down I'm only trying to maintain my mental fortitude in the long run cuz when we get only and our attention span is crappier than it is now people will just think everyone has dementia and I really not trying to be like that.

I'm in Gen Z, and my attention span already sucked before TikTok even existed (I'd often rather watch an 11-minute cartoon than a 3-hour live-action film,) and I never found any use of that app because it was kind of boring. I genuinely like making art and animation, and I do want to make more, but it's often in a short burst of focus that can go away unexpectedly. :-(

I haven't used TikTok since 2020, best decision of my life. I try not to use social media in general. Only social media I use is youtube and that's mostly for listening to my music playlists, watching tutorials or long commentary videos. (born 2005) I am glad that only phone I had until 9 years old was a Sony Ericsson w200.

I can say the same a bit. I do like to listen to long form content more so as a background noise to me when I'm doing things. I was never a big fan of tiktok only been on it a few times and all. But even then tbh it never affected me as bad as others. (maybe bc of the few times I went on it) I am part of the 5% people here and honestly I can relate to most you said. I also didn't get a phone til I started highschool and stuff was going on in my life I spent a lot more time on my phone. It was more so to escape reality tbf. But it didn't affect me a lot. All facts and sadly I'm one of those with a very poor attention span. It really sucks😅 can't do art, study or do literally anything without checking social media every 5 minutes. A fellow Gen Z, I still remember when tiktok first came out and kids in my class were just filming themselves doing dances in home group or even in actual lessons, it was so annoying. I know the US government wants to ban TikTok but honestly I hope it gets banned in Australia too. I also had limited internet access for a lot of my childhood and as such I didn't get a massive interest in social media, I only started using it because I got into art. Although I am able to watch hour long videos I almost always watch youtube in 2x speed so an hour video becomes a 30min video, I guess that's not really an attention problem because I'm still actively watching the video, but maybe seeing people mindlessly scrolling on their phones since starting high school made me more time conscious. I do watch YT shorts but I'm super picky about what I sit and watch. (So my YT recommendations only suggest shorts that actually give me some value) I don't think I can ever relate to my own peers around me because their attention spans are terrible, I guess it hurts my chances of finding a lifelong partner in the future, but I don't mind since I'm not wasting my time with the wrong people.

Especially if the movie is freaking epic, amazing cinematography, great characters, and story line. 7:56 My thoughts is, as long if you have a good working brain you should recover. I'm in the later part of Gen Z born in 2001. I also didn't get a real touch screen phone until I started high school. I also never wanted a phone. Before that I used to have a flip phone in middle school. I am also the 5 percent that made it to the end of this video but I don't know if it counts because I wasn't completely focused since I was drawing. I also have some nephews in gen alpha and I notice one who is like 4 years old and he is addicted to the phone and the iPad. He also has a bad attitude problem with this parents and he has an iPhone. He is able to use a phone properly at 4 and didn't even learn ABC's or grammar yet.

I love long commentary, but I need something else to do while watching/listening. I have a hard time only doing one thing at a time, even playing a game I like feels a little boring without something else to hear. It’s kinda weird though because I suddenly have no problems if someone else is with me, even if we’re not talking, their simple presence is enough. I can read something by itself, I can’t read and listen to another voice at the same time; I’ll also pause to watch something else exciting happen too

Hey I’m a millennial so watching watching a 10 minute video is nothing, I also love watching movies and watching anime. I think it’s really sad that some of Gen Z and Gen Alfa attention span’s are hardly No existent, I didn’t get a iPhone until I was in my sophomore year in high school so I had a flip phone and then my generation also went outside and we knew how to make up games and play pretend oh and the tv shows we watched seemed longer as well.
