Good points regarding reliability. The problem isn't the L322, it's some owners' lack of willingness to understand how the L322's systems work... to learn about common faults, investigate and correct them, and to perform basic maintenance ahead of time.

Most of the problems with these cars relate from poor maintenance from previous owners. They are extremely complex vehicles that need to be properly cared for. I had a P38, and the only thing I had to replace on it was an alternator, which took 15 minutes to replace. I lived on a 30 mile unpaved unmaintained road in the middle of the Adirondack state park. It never once let me down, but I cared religiously for it. I am now onto a L322 which I am trying to restore.

No reliability issues whatsoever? Come on lol, name one other car that needs brake pipes every couple of years, and the amount of 5.0 examples for sale I've seen with engine failures, timing chains done or already replaced engines speaks volumes.

I do wonder why people that dislike Land Rover’s are watching Land Rover videos 🤔 I personally don’t like Toyota’s, therefore, I have never watched any videos about them. Great channel, love the overload trips with the L322 and all of the beautiful scenery. Keep the vids coming, us Land Rover (Fanboys) just love em 👍

Great vid! I’ve heard it from modded defender drivers’ myself, that trash the range rovers. And point you to video clips showing a ‘street’ Range Rover with about 3mm of tread left on road tyres, spinning the wheels slowly in wet mud, and you see their defenders, sporting huge mud plugging tyres, are so obviously more rugged, and can flick wet mud higher than the trees they are steering around. And I say to them, ‘oh yeah, of course’ but the range won’t flick mud, as the traction control works to alieviate that eventuality. With mud tyres of course. Tyres are key. And those defenders, aren’t rotting to bits, leaking in water, have no room inside, drive like a tractor, and of course, NEVER break down! Enjoy the trip fella.

Came across this today. Great video. I'm a proud Range Rover owner (4.4TDV8 Westminster 2012). I got mine 18 months ago. Preventative maintenance is the key with these vehicles and getting a feel for the car - it will tell you when things aren't quite right and need fixing. I have an excellent local specialist who supports me with mine and certainly not had anything which has caused me massive concern. Though the sensors are too clever for their own good sometimes and caused some head scratching! I've seen those trolls too on many channels. Everyone seems to have a friend who had an L322 and had to sell their vital organs to keep it running. Reality is every car will have problems. A complex vehicle like the L322 may have a few more. I suspect, though, that more problems are caused by owners who don't understand and respect the vehicle. On the flipside - trolls are giving you content ideas right? "It won't last 5 minutes off my driveway" - tick - you've proved that one wrong as it looked like a motorway cruise to me......

I had a ‘95 Classic and I had some issues with it. When I looked into buying my current ‘11 HSE, I called my local LR Specialist asking about reliability issues with the L322. He was honest with me about the known timing chain issue with the gas motors. Everything else he said exactly what you said about improvements over the years and the importance of timely maintenance. With that I made the purchase and I’m so glad I did. I appreciate your approach to these vehicles, thanks for the content.

I've had my 2012 Westminster for 6 months now, and yes it's had its issues in that time, but nothing that I would consider a major issue, most parts were items I'd consider serviceable items, brake lines, washer jet for headlights, break pads and discs, yes they're brembo, but the weight of the car is justified, bushes, I mean bushes is a serviceable items, it's a near 3 ton car, and although I've spent maybe £800 in the 6 months with it, there's not a day goes by that I don't look at it and smile, this car even at 11 years old is still more luxurious at this price point than most used cars, it really is just a go anywhere do anything car, I can take it off road, I can drive 300 miles with ease and in comfort, i can go to work and back, I can take someone I'm trying to impress to a fancy restaurant and it doesn't look out of place with more modern luxury cars, until you've had one I don't believe you can pass judgment on it.

These cars are special , in the UK we are snobs when it comes to the age of a car and we need to get out of that type of thinking, to me land rovers always look fresh even at an old age I bet if you put a private reg you wouldn't know its age, and I bet you have more luxury items on this car then others. These cars are heavy vehicles so expect more wear and tear to items then most cars wish people would stop comparing these to a ford focus etc. I had a BMW 1 series and the clutch went at 29,000 miles on the clock. I only own an evoque but I still think it's the best looking suv's out there inside and out, its the best seats I have ever had in a car so god knows what's it like for you guys with the air suspension as well as the seats.

That's a beaut though, it looks like new, it's so sad to see ones like that at the scrap yard just because the owner was just a regular Joe and not a real Rover fan, mines hitting 127k miles and only now needs some bearings and balljoints, I had all the fluids done, $900 but I was so happy to find a rover shop while on a 3000 mile roadtrip out to Utah and back and they got it all done while I waited, turned out it was just the worn bearings overheating plus the stupid pcv and the fact it's 18 yrs old! And had a terrible 15 years in salty Chicago with little to no servicing that made it feel a bit slow, now it's a beast again and soo smoooth

I have Disco 4 and people tend to underestimate how capable they are. Most people think that the RR's and Discos are just another mall-crawlers. Yes, they are not dedicated mud-crawlers (heavy) but neither are most of the land cruisers. And that's not their purpose. I only wish my Disco had the same engine that on this RR. Bit weary of the tdv6.

Totally agree Mark. Best vehicle and if you look after them they'll look after you. My 2017 Skoda had a faulty thermostat after 4 years and 50000 miles! What mileage interval did you do between gearbox services? Bought my 2012 AB with 107k last May, now done 114k. in that time (not that there were any faults) its had lots of preventative maintenance. Including a new battery, gearbox mega flushed, all fluids changed/flushed inc power steering and coolant, all front control arms & drop links, new front pads and discs, rear pads, anti roll bar bushes front and rear, Lanoguard underside and protected rear wheel arches with extra weatherstrips, gas struts replaced all round and alloys refurbished. Just had 2nd oil service in my ownership after 5000miles. Only faulty items were AC compressor, drivers heated seat unit and high level brake light which have all been done. No suspension faults! Drives really well. It's my 2nd car and used for long road trips and holidays. Otherwise it's driven every 2 weeks and starts every time. While it's not being used its covered up to keep it clean and protected from elements. Hoping to take it Russia next year to visit the in laws!

It might be, yes. I’m sure someone will correct me, but the facelift L322’s were very close in powertrains and traction systems to the early L405’s. So, off road capability wise, they are very similar, almost identical, the 1st facelift L405’s are probably different. The only thing to consider is the size of the L405 on the trails. Off road equipment, very limited, as it is for the L322 too.
