Finding Casey Anthony not guilty was, legally speaking, the first time I ever saw how, in a US courtroom, a lawyer was able to properly explain to the jury why a guilty verdict could not be found here nor would it be justifiable. It's not a question of Casey's guilt or not, it's that it couldn't be reconstructed what happened! In doubt for the freedom of the accused, that's what we Europeans know. And that's why I think Jose Baez is one of the best criminal lawyers in the world! How good and right it was when I heard, "Tonight when I come home and my daughter asks me what I did today, I can say that I saved a life!". Even if you Americans may yell, the verdict was right! Thank you Jose, I adore you!

@@74valeska I think Casey Anthony is a chronic liar who is extremely selfish, and I think she definitely was not ready to be a mom. However, I completely agree that Jose was a phenomenal lawyer. I thought it was absolutely genius for him to thoroughly clarify to the courtroom that a guilty verdict is "beyond reasonable doubt." Honestly, I think that was what won him the case.

The running theory is that the jury was spooked by the death penalty. Since there was technically no forensic evidence, I think they would have been comfortable sending her to prison but not death. I don't think they're *supposed* to take the punishment into consideration, but it seems like they did anyway.

The prosecution was simply out lawyered! THAT is the loop hole in our justice system! There has to be something that can be done.

The prosecution also never mentioned the search for fool proof suffocation and the fact that it was ACTUALLY done at 4:00 not 2:00 as reported by the defense team. The judge should never have allowed them to allege abuse when it wasn’t proven!

@@Kalbert7161- I’m retired from the judiciary. I was disgusted with that verdict, the entire trial too. I did not agree how the judge ruled on many points. Casey was on trial, not George. The defense could attempt to create reasonable doubt, by stating there was no direct evidence Casey killed the child, deliberately or not. Bringing George into the mix was very wrong. If the State felt there was enough evidence to prosecute George, they should have, and then he would have his own trial. The fact the State never went after George is simply because there was no evidence he had any part in the child’s death. The judge should never have allowed that admissible in court. It sent the jury on the wrong path. I never believed Casey deliberately murdered her baby. I do believe, based on her actions, she did harm the baby in an attempt to keep the baby sleeping while she partied. When the baby was found dead, she panicked and disposed of her. No one puts tape on a dead child to keep her quiet. I believed Dr. G’s assessment of the remains. Dragging George into the trial, the sexual abuse allegation, was solely to paint him in a bad light, and capable of murder. It was a travesty of justice. I was never a defense attorney, I was a prosecutor. It takes a special person to be able to give an accused murderer a good defense. Especially with so much pointing to guilt. OJ’s trial was another debacle.

When you see it like this it makes sense and this murder becomes a lot more disturbing.

Apparently one of the alternate jurors walked away and said after everything they believed Casey was a good mom. Another said no one ever testified that she was a bad mom or hated Caylee. The prosecution really did nothing to prove a 1st degree m rder charge. They brought forward pieces of evidence but never put things together or gave them a clear story of what occurred. Initial vote was 2/12 that thought she was guilty, which is kinda crazy when you think about it. It was never even close.

They did ask him and his roommates. They literally testified in trial. They thought she was being taken care of by a nanny or Casey's parents had her.

Both boyfriends were questioned and testified at trial. They believed Casey when she told them the baby was with the nanny or her parents.

They absolutely did question the boyfriend and he ended up testifying for the prosecution he was told the same lie by casey about the zanny nanny he had nothing to do with it

My son ducked under a clothes rack in a crowded department store when he was a little older than Caylee. He was out of my sight for literally seconds and I was screaming for a security guard. He pops his head out grinning. I still remember the horror of that moment like it was yesterday. It was 22 years ago !

the grandfather was a retired detective. i think they both knew from the start when the car smelled of human remains and the fact that casey didn’t report caylee missing for over a month that something was going on. but that’s a hard pill to swallow that your daughter murdered a young child. when they told casey the entire state knew the story, that caylee was all over the news and on magazines casey probably started getting nervous. like you said it seemed like they were trying to coax her into saying something that wasn’t absolute bullshit. either admitting her involvement in her daughter’s disappearance or giving the police actual useful information to get justice for their granddaughter

They would've more likely convicted Casey if the prosecution either offered an alternate charge or took the death penalty off the table. It was her decision to have caylee, it was her decision to stay at her childhood home and barely work and it sounded like she paid no bills at all so seems like she just wanted to party and have fun and not worry about responsibilities.

I think I remember something about the grandparents wanting to adopt Kaylee. The grandparents were paying for her up bringing anyway, because parasite Casey wasn't even working. Maybe she just wanted to hang on to the situation where she was living there for free and Caylee was the ticket. If grandparents adopted her, Casey might have to go out and actually get a job. Better to fake that there was a nanny & hang out with her friends all day.

I think there was doubt in Casey’s mothers mind throughout the entire case however I fully believe her father was involved.

Denial is a good word.......the problem is that the family has this very vain outlook and want to keep up appearances so they just have a history of denying everything. Casey never graduated HS. She told her parents a lie that the school wasn't letting her walk for some ridiculous reason but she was totally graduating........they even threw her a graduation party. Also......Casey was about 6-8 months before that family finally came to the realization that Casey was pregnant......because she kept lying to them and saying that she just put on weight. That's why Casey is so good at denial......she grew up around it.

A while back there was a trial related to an act of domestic terrorism where some of the people on trial were vocal white supremacists. In order to get an 'impartial jury' the court selected only people who had *no opinions at all* about white supremacy. Obviously, this meant the jury was now composed of people so dumb that they kept having trouble following basic instructions from the judge and couldn't seem to grasp simple legal concepts.

How did the child die? You can not convict some one with no proof. The poli e and district attorney did not do their job and prove their case

She lives about 45 min south of me and I would literally start shaking all over if I saw her out in public. What a horrible outcome this case had. I will never understand how the jury came to a not guilty verdict. I watched every minute of that trial.

I think that as well, her grandparents absolutely loved her and if Casey wasn't such an evil moster, Caylee could still be here today. My heart breaks for her and her grandparents 💔

She was jealous of her own daughter & taking her away from her parents was the ultimate way to get even with them for scorning her. She didn't see Caylee as a human being she saw her as a disposable pawn in a chess game & she used her to win & by being found not guilty, she won. It makes me sick every time I hear her name. 🤬

I assume you've never taken a history class where the professor or teacher played the uncensored Kennedy Assassination. It's history, no reason to brush it over or claim its inappropriate.

@@novemberlynne9986 Yeah, I remember in my history class in highschool we would talk about current events often, and major events that have happened, we never had cases like these, I think one of the worst cases I saw was a shooting case in 2018 located on a farm. I believe the shooter was Gerald Stanley if I remembered the name right. I always found it interesting, even if I never was a fan of watching the news in general.

It wasn’t a crime then. That’s why they made Caylee’s law, so that they could charge parents in the future for this. Unfortunately, laws are usually formed after something heinous has already happened to prevent it from happening again. So sad that she had to be one of the first cases to bring this issue to light and got no justice.

i think 'narcissist' might be exactly it. her parents don't seem like the type who'd teach her something like this so instead it being a neurological disorder that was left untreated makes sense. not an excuse obviously but a reason because while this sounds terrible to us to her it was just her way out because her brain is wired to only care about herself. normal people don't do things like this. very sad. but this is why mental heath is so important. and why i believe we need to properly educate people before they become parents to lower cases of abuse etc. i do doubt that there wasn't warning signs that the people around her should've picked up on though. that poor little girl, she had a whole life to live. her mother should've loved her and cared for her. she deserved atleast that.

I was lying awake last night thinking, can this case be reopened? Surely? The trial seems like it was treated like a circus by her defence lawyer... A little girl is dead and died in the most heartbreaking way by (clearly) someone who was supposed to protect her at all costs, whether it was Casey or George (highly unlikely it was George) something needs to be done to actually get Caylee the justice she deserves.

@@jessrose918the case can’t be reopened. Once your charges are dismissed and your deemed not guilty it’s not allowed to be opened again, in a lot of states at least. I do think there were warning signs. Someone else in the comments said (and I don’t know how true this is) that she lied to her parents about graduating highschool when she never did, and that no one knew she was pregnant for 6-8 months because she lied and said she was just gaining weight. The thing with narcissistic people though is they need to want to get help for it to be beneficial and they almost never do. And you never really think something like this is gonna happen until it happens unfortunately because narcissistic people can be really charming and make themselves seem mostly normal. I have a family member that is without a doubt narcissistic, but refuses any help offered to her. It’s sad and scary. But I don’t think there was much her parents or anyone around her could’ve done.

@@charley_warlzz Not clueless about the case: unbiased about the case. They’re supposed to receive the relevant information during the case. If they don’t, it’s a failure of the prosecution to provide that evidence. Unfortunately, I believe that is a large component in this case.

right??? George probably suspected something already or in the back of his mind, he knew that woman killed his granddaughter but he still mentioned in his suicide note that she's innocent. my heart breaks for the family who did nothing but to turn a blind eye in the face of EVERYTHING.
