These are the best 240mm AIO's you can buy in 2024....at least some of them CLAIM to be the best on both Intel and AMD. But a lot of these all in one liquid coolers end up being a lot worse than I expected. Then again, some of them had amazing temperatures on both LGA1700 and AM5. Let's talk about what it takes to get our recommendation.
Buy our recommended 240mm AIO's here on Amazon:

Especially the AM5 / Intel Comparison but moreover, the very good graphical presentation for so many different Units, exactly what i needed to go and buy my first AIO and get rid of my BeQuiet Dark Rock 4 ( i hate the clamping mechanism soooo much i want to cut my arms open everytime ) :D . That is one comprehensive test. Very glad you have mentioned the noise that pumps are making as I was under impression they should be completely quiet. At least that was one of the reasons I was looking into AIO. I have purchased a Lian Li Galahad II LCD Performance AIO 280mm that has 8th gen Asetek pump. Exactly the same that is used in Asus Ryujin III. The only reason I figured that out is when you played the noise it makes. When I first got the unit I thought it was broken because of that sound and I have actually replaced it with completely new one that was making exactly the same noise. I wished I knew that before the purchase ;)

I just recently picked up the cheaper Thermal right Frozen Notte 240mm white ARGB and swapped it out with some white Arctic P12's. The temps are absolutely chilly on my 7800x3d. I Really can't believe the price for it either. With the two fans it came in at $68 usd. If the pump holds up for more than 2 years I think it will be money well spent. It would be nice to see you guys run a long term budget AIO test if possible. I know logisitically it would be a pretty tough proposition, but finding out if there is several hidden gems in the under $75usd category would be pretty nice, and good to know. Thanks for doing such a through review on this, keep up the good work.

Thank you for the standardized fan testing. This is usually never tested and it’s a good indicator to see if the fans are holding back or carrying the AIO. Regardless of what AIO I choose for my 360mm I had the plan to put T30/Noctuas on it. Tests like this one would help me choose. Ended up going with a 360mm EKWB Dark and T30s it’s been excellent.

Watched the entire 25 minutes and first I want to say thanks to the team for doing all of the testing, especially between Intel and AMD on all the coolers Something interesting is my LT720 and LS720 (the 360mm version), their pump noise is nowhere as bad as that LT520. I wonder if that AIO is defective or maybe Deepcool has different pump speeds on the 240mm compared to the 360mm

I didn't hear any obnoxious or loud noises from the pump & my temps topped out at 85 degress C. Just thought I'd elaborate on my comment. The faulty units are rare, from what I'm seeing.

Which ones would you recommend for the Lian Li A4 H2O? I've seen that the Nucleus AIO CR240 is 57.8mm with the cap removed. On top of that you could use sandpaper to shave off the plastic that supports the decorative cap and I bet it would fit without a bulge. I've seen that the Be Quiet! Pure Loop 2 block is 42mm but there isn't space for the separate pump. The Thermalright is 53 mm and not good for AM5.

23:47 thats more than $100 Loved this testing. That Thermalright setup looks compelling at the prices, but its scary when it comes to watercooling. You just feel it's too good to be true, that something is going to spill. I have the same reservations about ID Cooling as well.
@RafitoOoO
@RafitoOoO 18 күн бұрын
ID Cooling and Thermalright are both OGs. Especially Thermalright that is one of the oldest companies featured in this video. They also have tons of clients in the business side. The point is: margins on AIOs are crazy high, that's why every company is flocking into the market. They're just undercutting everybody, doesn't mean it's a bad product.

Great testing, the Ryujin III on AM5 was a big surprise, I expected same performance as NZXT and Phanteks due to sharing the Asetek pump design. But, was the Intel testing done with or without an LGA 1700 contact frame? Considering that the frame costs only about $15 it is absolutely be worth checking how the positions would change. Also, since Arctic P12 Max fans were shown, I would like to see some testing done with the white version of than P12 max fans because for some reason they have fluid dynamic bearing rather than dual ball bearing used in the black P12 Max.

@HardwareCanucks
@HardwareCanucks 3 ай бұрын
The small pumps are required for fluid movement through the loop so you can't idle them. I'd recommend setting it to whatever you are comfortable with and whatever gets drowned out by your preferred fan profile
@marcelmathes
@marcelmathes 3 ай бұрын
The pump needs to run at a certain speed because the liquid is used for lubricating the pump itself, otherwise you are risking damage to the pump as well as noise of the liquid inside the pump. Slow moving liquid can be more noisy than the pump. The pump should also run at a constant speed, a lot of rpm changes can damage the pump or at least reduce its lifetime. Set the pump speed to a fixed rpm, one that you almost can't hear it (depends on the AIO, EK for example is almost quit at 60-70%) and check your temps. If the temps stay the same at a lower speed compared to 100% keep it at that.

Thank you for doing this work! In my personal use case, I try to always use EKWB or Noctua for all applications. I got so tired of the bizarre mounting scenarios of the cheaper brands and the mixed quality control. Ex: The popular EVO air cooler that was always reasonably priced never fully seats. At max tightness it can spin on the cpu. The only exception was my recent Lian Li 011 Dynamic EVO build. I used (6) of the newer P28 Lian Li fans so wiring would be easier. I used EKWB CLC classic 360 for the AMD 5800X3D but their fans are garbage and always make annoying noise. I swapped them for the Lian Li P28s. I have like (12) EKWB Vardar fans from the different builds I have done in the last few years just sitting in a bin. Every set had at least one annoying fan that made noise. I usually swap them to Noctua Redux's. For the GPU I had to watercool the AMD 6950XT ordered straight from AMD, because it was hitting 117C hotspot even at 100% fan speed. I installed the EKWB pump. It was only one they had in stock and it was almost $200!! This is ridiculous but had to pay it because I don't trust anyone else. I used a 360mm classic radiator with (3) Lian Li 28 fans mounted to the side of the Lian Li 011 Dynamics.

Had a Lian Li Galahad 360 that was fairly quiet but over time performance just dropped. Serial number was outside of their recall for known issues but still just got warmer over time. Swapped to a EK Nucleus CR360 Dark and after a week the motor started making loud noise. Did RMA with it and even the replacement was loud. Had to turn down motor to 60% speed to make it quiet. Gave up on liquid cooling and went back to my old Noctua NH-U12A Chromax. No noise, no concerns.

how did you manage to get the deepcool 520 pump to go down to 65% speed? it has a 3pin header so it doesn't let me control fan speed in software

I’ve learned from multiple reviewers that the cooler head orientation can make about 2 degrees of difference, have you ever find the same phenomenon? And there is the v2 version of t30 aio, but it seems to have availability issues. Which one are you using?
@HardwareCanucks
@HardwareCanucks 3 ай бұрын
We are using the V2. It's the only one currently available. As for the question about the orientation, it's a bit of a red herring since we've seen up to 2C difference by just remounting coolers. Which is why the numbers you see are the averages of multiple mounts.

Best and most revealing roundup I've seen! thanks. My LT520 pump is inaudible at full speed though. Love this cooler on my 7800x3d and after watching your video I have no plans on replacing it anytime soon. I have Phanteks T30's on it for the win

How is the noise on the LT520? As bad or as drastic as the video portrays?
@pawnipt

@@hockeyplayer10able no pump noise at all on mine, unsure of the fans as I don't use them . I am using phantels t30 fans since I got it. I assume that deepcools quality control may be a dice roll.

Actually when the pump ramps up fast it makes the sound of moving water for a second, but other than that it's whisper quiet. Can't hear it. It is a 3000+ rpm pump which I think is part of the reason is cools so well.

Excellent video. Two suggestions for follow-up: 1. I want the fan speed to be controlled by water temperature to minimize the fans ramping up and down for transient loads. AFAIK, only Corsair and NZXT support this. Unfortunately, these two are near the bottom in your review. Are there other options? 2. I would like to see a performance update with offset mounting brackets to see if this changes AM5 pecking order. Thanks!

I have the 360mm EK and used a 2 pin temp sensor that I placed on the exhaust of the top mounted AIO. Before I got the EK I had NZXT and that sensor and reported liquid temp from CAM were typically 1:1 and at most 1 degree off. I set a fan curve in the BIOS and set the temp source to the sensor.

I still use the H55 for the 5000 CPU that I had on the FX CPU. Granted I bought it in 20125 and had to get it swapped, but it works fine. Although, I am thinking of upgrading soon.

Absolutely can confirm your comments regarding the mounting of the Kraken. I have one of these mounted on my 7700X and have remounted it repeatedly trying to get decent performance out of it. I finally managed to get reasonable temps out of it, but my experience with this cooler on AMD has me rethinking the whole 240 AIO concept. Now I realize it was simply the wrong cooler for the job. Thanks for pointing out, both here and in your air cooler reviews, that Intel and AMD CPUs have different cooling requirements from a mechanical standpoint.

I'm planning to build a PC soon and chose Pure Loop 2 FX. Looks like it's not the best option out there, but its look sold it for me. I thought of getting air cooler initially, but then decided to add some fancy lights and to me it looks better than any other competiotors.
