Encanto seems like a slam-dunk theme for a trackless dark ride along the lines of Mystic Manor (possibly just directly adapted from Mystic Manor). You would travel through the different spaces within Casita, with magical things happening all around and all the songs from the movie incorporated into the soundtrack. Where it would be built is harder to answer. Replacement for an existing ride at the Disneyland resort seems like the most likely place but exactly where, I'm not sure. The dream location would be a new Colombia pavilion at Epcot, but I'm not sure that's probable. At some point in the indefinite future, Disney will probably get the rights to use more Marvel content in Orlando. They will probably go hog-wild at Hollywood Studios when that happens. Someday, somewhere, they're gonna build the Quinjet ride.

I have lots of things to say about the Reedy Creek situation that are completely off-topic for this discussion, but for *Disney* I suspect this is a blip one way or another. They'll be fine. They'll either decide to fight it or they won't; either way, they're not going anywhere.

There are also the many office areas back there, and it is where many of the parties being staged get set up. Also, Horizons was not destroyed because Disney didn't want to spend money maintaining is. Rather Disney COULDN'T spend money maintaining it, because the parts required to maintain it were no longer being manufactured. Many ride referbs happen at Disney because they have to change the ride to either support new parts to maintain the ride, or they need to change the ride vehicles in order to keep it going with parts from a new company.

IP IS bad for the parks, considering it allows imagineering to rely on pre-existing story and characters as opposed to actually using their creativity and innovating. This is proven by DisneySea, arguably the best them park in the world, with next to no IP. DisneySea and classic attractions like Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Big Thunder etc still feel distinctly Disney, but with timeless, unique, thoughtfull theming and lore.

I respectfully disagree. I go to Disneyland to go on Disney rides.
@EEvtg
@EEvtg 2 жыл бұрын
@@katierose8238 My point is that quality rides with original theming and story ARE Disney rides. I understand that you enjoy seeing your favorite characters in rides, but if every new attraction is based on the most recent popular film, things will get boring, predictable and outdated quickly. If you've been to Disney World I think you'd agree that a land like "Asia" in Animal Kingdom has much more immersive theming and storytelling than a copy paste land like "Toy Story Land." Furthermor, I think you'd agree that an attraction like Expedition Everest is much more impressive, well themed and uniquely Disney than a technically similar attraction like Slinkey Dog Dash. In my oppinion this is what used to set Disney apart from Universal, the fact that they had creative imagineers that could imagine new worlds and stories for attractions that were just as magical, if not moreso. Walt Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean was so creative, groundbreaking and timeless that it ended up spawning a hugely successful film franchise 35 years later. Not the other way around. Don't worry though, the executives at Disney want to take the easier and much cheaper route of slapping characters on generic screen based rides you can find at LegoLand (Web Slingers)...so you won't run out of these rides. 👍
@cataquackwarlord5389
@cataquackwarlord5389 2 жыл бұрын
I think the big issue, aside from having TOO many IPs, is that there's a differentiation between good and bad IP attractions, and Disney as of late has favored the latter. Good IP attractions are the ones that focus on genuinely honoring the IPs and bringing them to life for guests. Many of the older Disney rides are good examples of this, though Flight of Passage is a good example of newer one that does it right. The attraction's purpose is to sell the experience that the IP embodies. Bad IP rides, on the other hand, rely on the IP to sell the attraction. These IPs only get token representation, much like how Disney has given token representation to females and African Americans in their shows/movies without actually putting effort into actually representing them well. Rides like Slinky Dog Dash don't give value to the IP, they instead drain the value of the IP to advertise the ride. So you get rides that are of poor quality and don't actually care much for the IPs they include.
@EEvtg
@EEvtg 2 жыл бұрын
@@cataquackwarlord5389 Well put! I agree with your differentiation between good and bad IP usage. I also see Flight of Passage as a rare example of IP done extremely right! Ultimately, I think IP has a place in the parks, I just don't think it should become such a strong majority. Unfortunately it seems like many of the imagineers who understood or cared about quality IP integration (like Joe Rhode) have since been pushed out...Hopefully I'm wrong about that though!

An 'Encanto' attraction would no doubt more than likely work better in EPCOT than 'Animal Kingdom'. You could go thru a trackless ride thru the different rooms inside 'Casita' & use a bunch of projection-mapping combined w/cartoony animatronics, something similar to Runaway Railroad, but w/animatronics that resemble the ones from Tokyo Disneyland's Beauty & the Beast attraction. As for new Animal Kingdom attractions, the World of Pandora could really use a 3rd attraction, perhaps some kind of rollercoaster or darkride. A Zootopia themed Land is probably a given, but I for one would love to see a mythical beast-themed land. Not sure if they could have characters like Percy Jackson or characters from the Pastoral scene in Fantasia or something not-ip related, but they really need to bring such a land to the park to life.

Its one thing if its in epcot if there were an africa section..but animal kingdom is really iffy especially since unlike Avatar, there are really no special animals that were the main focus of the movie or comic lore..wakanda is a tech country it isnt like Pandora which was a very nature first planet.

I've been saying it for a little bit now, Animation Courtyard should become an extention of Mickey and Minnie's and develop into a new ToonTown (or personally id like to see it turn into to Duckberg). You can still keep some of the Disney Jr characters in place (or if you want, put them in that mini-land near Toy Story Land) but it should be a lot more focused on Mickey and Friends, maybe bringing back the old Mickey house they used to have, reusing the Star Wars Launch Bay as the interior.

Now this is an interesting comment request, per the modern state of Disney, I’d love that this pricing out strategy backfires horribly, in a way that bring the prices down, hopefully nothing serious. Now on with the parks, which in my personal case is DAK and DHS Animal kingdom: - I hope dinoland stays, but chester and hesters goes away, my new vision of new dinoland is basically the best outdoor natural history museum/ dino park in the world, but with real prehistoric animals, and make Disney the accurate dinosaur counterpart to universals movie Dino experience, give a nice walkthrough attraction that’s easy to update due to new discoveries, I’m thinking something of a dinosaur experience akin to a traveling dinosaur expo i saw in the UK a couple years ago (If you know the name, please reply), while you have the thrill ride on the back. - I hope encancto comes as it’s a really interesting integration with the park, as they can showcase South American animals in it, although the movie didn’t touch the animal topic too much, but hey a man can dream, and it can have good “fast food” integration with arepas (which are venezuelan) and salchipapas, and as casa Madrigal as a small walkthrough or omnimover attraction. -Tree of life, personally update and leave it as it is, or if you REALLY have to put it out, a bug themed restaurant, in vain of honey I shrunk the kids and it’s tough to be a bug. Hollywood studios: -Expand sunset boulevard, and put the muppet show there, while also putting a movies centered attraction, omnimover. While putting the classic restaurants, brown derby, etcetera, there. -Indy, and star wars “share” the muppet and echo lake space, hell it would be amazing if you entered the indy land through an airport/airfield and enter star wars through the battu trees, keep the stunt spectacular, put the temple of the forbidden ride, and finally a museum (restaurant) that ties to SEA with a character encounter, and put the bantha attraction, hey i just realized, you could do the peoplemover in the following way, elephant when you enter from indiana jones, and banthas when you exit/enter through galaxy’s edge. Please let me know what you think

The Tomorrowlands fascinate me but I feel like Disney has given up on the concept of true futurism. One only needs to look at Epcot. I really feel like the Imagineers have been misguided by the idea that Tomorrowlands were always becoming "Todaylands." Yes and no. Technology and future predictions of it did date themselves but the architecture did not. That's why WDW is trying to return their Tomorrowland to 70s Tomorrowland. Had they made no changes, it would still appear futuristic because quite simply the world aside from a few global projects does not look like that Tomorrowland.

I also don’t agree with changing DCAs name theme as well just because I think Buena Vista Street and Cars land (“idk how but Cars land is based on rote 66 very Cali”) I think it would still look out of place. I would like the California theme of the park to return, partially because I think Soarin over Cali is better than Around the World lol. I think what they should do with Avengers ampus I think they should make it a San Fransisco feel like in the Avengers video game like an all new original story I think It would give it some character. Blasphemy to even speak on it lol You raise a lot of really great points here, as usual, particularly with respect to the more long term possible projects. I’m definitely hoping DAK gets a new land - during a sit down with Rohde like 5y ago, he was real excited about a Zootopia concept in DAK, as well as mentioning an Australia retheme idea for Dinoland. They need to do something to that 🦕 side of the park though, not add more to Africa/remove Rafiki imho My thing though with Disney adding IP into the parks is they’re not doing it in a reasonable time period - they want to add IP 5-10 years after the content was at its peak, and by that time the audience that loved it most has grown up. Or otherwise moved on. Pandora/Avatar, Tron, Ratatouille, even Guardians fall into that category to a degree Encanto could be good somehow combined with Coco theming but in 10y? Come on, gotta more quicker than that 😆

The animated IP has way more long term staying power, and is more timeless than any of the live action IP’s. As for the Matterhorn? Considering it’s the worlds first tubular steel coaster, it’s longevity as it is is impressive. But the truth is tube steel coasters do eventually have a life cycle. They get rougher and rougher over time. Retracting and new ride vehicles can extend that somewhat. But they can never completely solve the increasing problems and roughness. The years take their toll, and eventually you need to replace the whole thing. I fear the Matterhorn may be reaching that point in the not too distant future.

I think the unfortunate reality is that it's getting old, and has developed some structural issues over time. I remember when they basically re-built Space Mountain for the same reasons, but the Matterhorn I think it would be all or nothing. Pretty much the same reasons they can't just start the Peoplemover again ( sorry, Offhand - I'd like to see it back again too....).

@@TheBoyMechanic Space Mountain is essentially a freestanding coaster inside a big cavernous building. The coaster is not really connected to the building beyond the foundation. Whereas the Matterhorn and the Mountain are structurally interconnected. Which has always been the huge problem.

Disney’s board members need to get rid of Chapek and Floridians need to get rid of DeSantis because neither one of them are good for the progress or future of Florida.

Desantis seems to be fine to me. Maybe Disney should have just stayed out of politics, then their Reedy Creek District wouldn't be threatened.

I definitely think Pixar Pier will be given an expansion or absorb the rest of the former Paradise Pier at some point. Considering the fact that Mickey Mouse still dominates the side of the Pixar Pal-Around as well as the Silly Symphony Swings, Golden Zephyr and Goofy's Sky School. Now Golden Zephyr I could see being themed to a Buzz Lightyear attraction (based on the 2022 film?) and maybe retheme the Silly Symphony Swings to UP? As for Goofy's Sky School, that one's tricky. Perhaps if Mike & Sully to the Rescue is removed in favor of an Avengers Campus expansion, they could retheme that to Monster's Inc? Or they could retheme it to one of Pixar's newer films like Luca or something. It would make sense.

The only thing I'm not convinced about is Encanto at DAK. I have no doubt it's coming in some form or fashion, I'm just not sure how it fits with the animal theme. Other than that, your predictions seem pretty on point. This video added spice to my day like salt and pepper!

For Animal Kingdom since Disney owns Fox, I believe a good replacement for DinoLand would be Ice Age since it's about extinct animals and still fits within the animal theme of Animal Kingdom

I used to work at the Golden Vine Winery in DCA and I always thought they should retheme it to Luca inspired and even the Pacific Wharf buildings look like the town in Luca to match! Plus all the restaurants in cannery row can be rethemed to Pixar, like Cocina Cucamonga can be Coco and Lucky Fortune Cookery into Harryhausens from Monsters inc. Also for the rides on Pixar pier like Jumping jellyfish can be easily turned into a Nemo ride as well as the golden zephyrs into the spirit of adventure from Up!

Luca themed anything would make my heart so happy. It’s one of my top favorites. The movie didn’t come out that long ago, but unlike Encanto it isn’t receiving the same love anymore. 🥲

The American Adventure is inspirational, but it's starting to get old. If I were in charge, I would have Uncle Sam be the host, more scenes with anamtronics, and have the statues come to life.
