I loved watching the Gong Show, and I loved the Unknown Comic! Seeing him unmasked was awesome. He has the best jokes.

he really had a lot of original material that was good, not an easy thing to do, means he was really clever.

Yes, Murray Langston aka The Unknown Comic first appeared on TV during the 70's Hudson Brothers Comedy Hour, then created the Unknown Comic for the Gong Show; and continued to play the UC for sometime....and eventually in the 90's he revealed himself after all that time. :-)

The clip went missing of him on a HBO comedy show taking off his bag for the first time in 1983. But now I just saw him from 1973 on The Midnight Special doing comedy with his partner.

Another example of an Ego that got in the way of something great. The guy had constant bookings and was becoming famous all over America as "The Unknown Comic", so what does this genius do?....Take off the bag and end up in obscurity.

Actually in there is an old song called "I'm my own grandpa" Dr. Demento played it regularly on his show and I'm sure you'll find it on KZfaq.

The bag was his gimmick . It is what separated him from every other comic. He already had fans from the show. When he dumped the bag he dumped his gimmick. That made him just another comic. The bag, the laugh made him. Check his IMDB out you will see he dumped his career when he tossed the bag

He was "TV big" in the 70, off and on in the 80's and the last I saw of him in the 90's was his revelation. I'm sure Murray Langston is still out there making people laugh. :-)

Yes, Murray Langston is the Unknown Comic. I remember seeing him on the Gong Show and recognizing his voice from the Hudson Brothers show. :-)

Don't know about you, but The bag was better looking than the guy......I wonder if it's because stores charge .25 cents now for the bag, and it takes many years of experimenting to cut the most handsome holes in the bag. Hold a brown bag special, and put the bolsa back on la cabesza . 😅 I'm expecting nitemares now.
