This is by far the most entertaining exchange of dialog I have seen in recent cinema. Up until the moment the FBI agent asks him to repeat what he said one more time I thought the wolf was going to get away with the bribe. Amazing acting. Almost makes me wish I would give up my life as a teacher to have some fun on stage.

I see it as one of the most atrocious ones. He's a protagonist and inspiring decisive guy, but here you just see his spiritual dead end clear. All he cares about is money and he can't believe somebody calls him a little guy even though he doesn't know where to start spending his cash. After that he will get enraged, start throwing food and showing off his wealth. But it's all forced. It's agony. They showed him that the guys who drive the subway to work could be the bigger men than he is. They didn't buy his million dollars bribe. They were disgusted by the money. They're backed up by the whole of country of honest workers, and he's sitting on a pile of paper that's already doomed.

I always found it very powerful that in the end, after he seizes everything and puts Belfort behind bars, it shows him on the subway... riding it home. Realizing that after all this was done, nothing changed for him. He never got the recognition he was after... and nothing really advanced him further. He never got the big break he was looking for. Kyle Chandler (Agent Denham) does some impeccable acting, especially the facial expressions around the mark 0:40. This movie deserves all the credit it gets, would have deserved all the awards it didn't get and especially Leo should have gotten the Oscar for this role which required such energy in every scene and a wide variety of talents on his side. Scorsese showed that he can make a movie at the age of 71 which is so full of energy and vibes that many of his younger colleagues should be very jealous of him. He is the goat!

Watching this scene again made me realize another thing which I didn't notice earlier when I watched the movie. That FBI officer turned out to be so wrong and Jordan actually won in the end! In this scene, the FBI officer boast that he will be such a hero in his office when he will bust Jordan and this yatch. Jordan retorted that go back traveling in subways for the rest of your lives to your miserable wives. And guess what, that's what exactly happened in the end. Last scene showed that same FBI officer finally succeeding in winning the case and putting Jordan behind the bars. Yet he's seen as gloomy, riding back all alone that same subway to his home while watching an old couple near death. No party or celebration for him. Whereas Jordan despite all his frauds and excesses, is still looked up to in extreme respect by thousands lining up for his seminars to listen to the Golden words of success and try to become just like Jordan. That's the irony of the world we live in, which was shown masterfully by Scorcese.

Dont forget about Kyle Chandler here. As for appreciation I think it is enough to say that I'm still wondering to this point who did better job here - Chandler or Di Caprio? And I tell you, at times it seems the way Chandler delivered these marvelous lines matches, if not tops Di Caprio performance. But after all it isnt a contest. It is about all actors doing their jobs as well as they can. Pretty sure they did this here. Btw, I loved your description Jaime and your ambiguity comment.
