It's one of the least scary ghost films that I've enjoyed a LOT, it's more thought provoking, spooky, and interesting imo Paranormal activity messes me up more since it's not a cgi fiesta, so you might be able to handle this especially w friends Disclaimer: I have made it thru Hereditary so I have a high tolerance for paranormal stuff that isn't gore

Regarding the prequel they're teasing, it's already fully shot. What they were going to do was post a bunch of "found footage" of sorts involving the characters in the opening montage of the movie. They liked the idea of stumbling across creepy videos on the internet and they had a whole slew of videos locked and loaded. The story being told throughout these videos would've led directly into the opening scene of the movie. Unfortunately, when they started doing this, the videos were immediately taken down for graphic content. So that idea got scrapped entirely, but they still have all the footage lying around. They've thrown around the idea of releasing it all as a prequel film entirely from the perspective of technology screens. Not sure anything's concrete about that yet, but it's fascinating stuff!

Do more Aussie movies! Especially with strike going on. The Castle, Muriel's Wedding, Pricilla Queen Of The Dessert, Rabbit Proof Fence, The Dish, The Dressmaker, The Sapphires, Brand Nue Dae, even Baz Luhrmann first film Strictly Ballroom(I don't think these are apart of SAG/not big productions just they got distributed overseas through them maybe)

The Riley scene is pretty brutal, and while it is rare I do want to point out that these kinds of scenes happen in American films, too! Doctor Sleep, the Mike Flanagan-directed Stephen King adaptation, has a particularly disturbing scene involving Jacob Tremblay that had me physically shaking afterwards. One of the most disturbing things I've ever seen in a major Hollywood horror film.

Love to see this movie get it's due praises! Really felt like it did some neat and interesting things with an age old horror concept (spirit possession), and every actor involved is clearly giving 150% the whole way through. It's also the first horror movie I've watched in awhile that was so brutal in parts that I actually had to cover my eyes. Not necessarily something that makes a great film on its own, but in conjunction with all of the other fantastic bits of this movie, it was really really effective, especially in that it never felt excessive.

That kangaroo bit is interesting. As a child i was with my dad driving down a road and there was a deer dying on the side of the road. He pulled over. Got out and looked at him. Went to the box of the truck, pulled out and loaded his gun, he had just been trap shooting, and put the deer out of its misery. And my mom had to explain what exactly happened to me because i was so mad at my dad.

chris alosio (joss) is new zealand samoan!! him and zoe (hayley) were so good, i loved those little shits sm. this movie wasn’t super scary to me, but it was extremely upsetting, and yeah unsettling. all that set up in the beginning made all that happened to riley legit the worst, i was sick with how awful that made me feel. the racka racka brothers did an amazing job, and all the interviews/bts vlogs etc just show what an awesome group of people they managed to pull together for this project. as a kiwi, i feel a kind of secondary pride for them as aussies hahaha like hell yeah those’re my neighbours!!!!
