I have had the honour of personally, albeit just as a pilot of NDC team back in 1991, meeting Dr Vohra. He had entire team in splits with his (immensely handsome looks) great sense of humour. His reflections on our colonial mindset and our true strength are finest. In my view (just a wish) he should be made governor of a large state. He can charge the youth. Give them a direction that this country needs (very badly).

Very nice real story from Ambassador Deepak. His words of wisdom always lift my spirits but the “Ji huzoor” mentality is still there. Every time I go to a Government office I find the officials working there expect that from a common man and feel as if they are doing the common man a favor by rendering their services and corruption is still rampant. Will be glad to see people like Ambassador Deepak raise their voice on this issue and the ways of tackling it.

The present govt has a knack for overcoming problems. They almost revel in it. My part time driver was not able to get his ration card made as he belongs to another state. BJP govt simply passed the law of one nation one card to be made anywhere in India.

I think the colonies that have been made to suffer for a longer time take longer to decoloniz themselves. Africans have seen the worst colonization by the Europeans (the genocides, slave trades, destruction of their cultures, artificial divisions, intellectual destruction, etc.) hence they take longer to come out of the after-effects. India had the luck of becoming Hindu rajya under Shivaji Maharaj before british colonization. Hence we saw a 200 year period of colonization (artificial divisions, artificial famines, cultural destruction, divide and rule, etc.) which could take 50-100 years (if India survives jihadists and commies) to decolonize (we are already 75 years in).
