I actually don't care for brown rice but I do like white rice. My favorite is black rice though it's delicious packed with nutrients and it just all around is better and more filling. I'm interested to have red rice on its own because I've only had it as a part of mixed wild rice. There's a jade rice that is really good too but it's just short grain white rice soak them Bamboo juice that makes it green and add silica to it but it's tasty as well.

I like a blend of Wahani (red rice), Long grain brown rice, Black rice (short grain) with a little "Wild Rice" (not really rice at all). Sprinkle a bit of quinoa, and amaranth, allow 5% more water than straight white rice. Use this for my stir fry....Yum!

I rly love black (emperor) rice. It really has this special taste. I don't really know how to describe it but while cooking it, the boiling water tasted very little acidic for some reason. It has this rich in fiber taste and if we have to compare the fiber richness, it's most comparable to plain oats.

I recently made vegan sushi (tofu, zucchini, carrot, sesame seeds, chili flakes, sea salt, avocado with nori) using black rice, and it was so yummy to me. I do not like rice a lot, but this black rice I enjoy with sushi. I rinsed the rice, and used more water when cooking it. I wonder if that helps reduce the arsenic, but since I do not eat rice daily I do not think it will hurt my health.

I wish that more people would do their homework like Dr. Chan. There is so much misinformation on KZfaq and various other media that is not only confusing, but inaccurate. One of the most misunderstood concepts about ride is the word "white". Many people think that white rice is a specific species. I alway look for "Whole Grain" when choosing rice; it is only applied to rice that. has not been stripped of the germ and bran which hold most of the nutrients. Many thanks to Dr. Chan!

My question then is as all food can rise blood glucose how will my meals be different if I have the black rice in a bowl or ask them to skip the rice when I go buy my lunch? Is not the problem that no matter I have some salmon, chewy veggies and a dressing in a typical bowl salad my blood glucose going up is still going to prevent me to burn fat until I go into intermittent fasting again after my day’s last meal? How big difference does it make rally if my blood glucose go up to a certain level compared to a lower level if I still am very serious about keeping my eating window strict, like 12 noon to six pm and then let the body rest 18 hours for intermittent fasting? So my concern is, Will these small changes in blood glucose when I actually eat still matter as in skipping the black rice but eating the raw salmon and veggies or having the black rice to the salad as it tastes a lot better and I come to like black rice a lot… But My BMI is up on obese level now of 31 in BMI… So I only eat one protein salad with black rice at noon and then one wok of chicken and veggies or steak and veggies at 5 pm. And then let the body rest. I understand my belly fat cannot just jump out of the window right now as soon as I started. But is going really slow and I like to understand how important these kind of carbs like black rice are to my nutrition… when zi skipped carbs all together I do not feel good even if I do it over a month and so my workouts get totally crappy if I do not add some carbs from my food that can increase the blood glucose in my body and brain when exercising. But I am still fat as it is… feels tough to change when one grow up eating bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and buns and pies and candy and ice cream all the time… 😤 today Is cinnamon bun day and I was almost ordering a special deal on Uber Eats of ten cinnamon buns 😂.. but I told myself , No, I am fed up on my belly fat and ordered my typical raw salmon black rice salad instead… and now I am bloody hungry after that as it is and feel crappy, perhaps the blood glucose went up too high by the black rice and now half an hour later it fell heavily and somI feel bad now while I felt really good directly upon eating the black rice salad… I really want to understand my blood glucose, me feeling great eating my black rise salads but an hour later feel tired and hungry again… what do I need to do to get a balance of energy throughout the day but still not eat carbs all the time? 😳🤷🏻‍♂️🤔 Thanks for a great channel!

Lotus: The human body can be a really complicated machine. Most times even docs/physicians can't work out what's wrong and resort to guess-work. But with something like ME/CFS, this can be an extremely debilitating and disabling condition. I know because I've been living with it for a very long time, and with absolutely no chance of ever bouncing back. Though in your case it might be that the CFS is returning. It does that in some cases, and the symptoms of profound tiredness/lethargy and throat probs are very much a part of that. Also your age may also be a factor because you cannot be the same as you were when much younger. All you can do with something like this is get plenty of rest and a good diet. It won't "cure" it but will help a bit.

It probably would also remove some nutrients along the way, which is inevitable, but the thing to consider is which wld be a better choice? (A) - remove some arsenic with some nutrient loss VERSUS little/no nutrient loss but with no reduction of arsenic. It comes down to a matter of priorities and choices in the end.

how can I tell the difference between the real thing (if it exists) and rice that has been dyed? the one I just bought from my local hypermaket has stained my food and I'm concerned that I may end up eating paint ))

Black rice is not painted. It naturally produces the purple colour. Nothing to worry about!

Black rice should turn the water slightly red when you soak it. Or take several grains and add a drop of vinegar to each grain. The vinegar should turn red. If soaking in water or using vinegar does not turn red then it is fake black rice and it has been dye. Do not eat fake black rice. There are YT videos on how to test black rice.

I eat only black rice as it feels better and is more consistent. Two problems: you don't find it easily and it stains the pot used for cooking quickly.
