Every fan base should keep this in mind. First, because even millionaire hockey players are human. Second, because you want your team to win! In most of the "passionate" hockey markets, home ice advantage is a double-edged sword. It's hard enough trying to execute the game plan against a team trying to disrupt that plan. Imagine trying to execute while 20,000 people are waiting to jump on you if things go wrong, or just get impatient while you're trying to execute (e.g. yelling "shoot" when a team is trying to set up properly on the PP)

Exactly the same reason we shouldn’t be bitching about player contracts being insane when the owners are literally just lecherous theives who get 50% of the revenue just to blackout coverage of the sport we all love to watch. We focus entirely too much on faults of players who are operating in a league that doesn’t give a fuck about its players as much as its owners profits

I lived in STL for a long time and I gotta say fans in that city aren't ruthless the way Philly fans are but they shred the players when they don't play well. If the cards or the blues don't make the playoffs everyone is pissed. That being said they are incredibly loyal, especially to any player or coach that wins big. They never forget that stuff

I don't care if he's 125 years old. This dude puts his life on the line to ENTERTAIN people and booing him for what he said is so goddamed disrespectful. It wasn't like he said Berube eats babies and traffics children. His answer felt like one of those bog standard "that's in the past, we need to concentrate on the work ahead" type answers. EVERY coach has a "best by" date for a given team now matter how many boats you put on the water. That goes DOUBLE for anyone who booed while pushing the "hockey has gotten soft" narrative. Hockey has gotten soft but a pwayer hurt your little fee-fees because he didn't prostrate himself before your almighty coach and saviour? Get over yourselves.

@@igmusicandflyingI think your missing a little context to why fans were fed up with Kyrou and it started before his comments, those were just the last straw. Something that needs to be understood is that St. Louis fans rarely boo their own team’s players regardless of the sport. In most cases if a player works hard and gives everything he has those players will become fan favorites regardless of their skill. The problem that most fans had with Kyrou was his effort level on defense and it has been an issue for a few years now. Kyrou refuses to backcheck or engage on defense and while he is an exceptionally skilled player offensively, he is a liability on defense. While Robert Thomas has rounded out his game over the years to become a 200 foot player and a fan favorite, Kyrou simply has been the same type of player with very little improvement on his defensive game since his rookie season. While it might seem that those boos a few nights ago were entirely because of his comments, they were more of a culmination of frustration by the fan base expecting more from one of the highest paid player on the Blues.

The fans feel he’s underperforming for his $8 mil contract and that he didn’t appreciate what Berube did for this team, personal feelings for him aside. Personally I didn’t have an issue with his comments, literally felt like he just wanted to move past it and not get stuck on the firing, which as someone who also love Berube and think firing him was not the right call (I’m happy to be proven wrong) booing him throughout the entire game was insane and uncalled for. Boo him during the roster lineup, fine, you boo, let him know it wasn’t appreciated, then cheer him on with the rest of the squad. He may not have liked Berube, and that’s fine. He may have had a personal issue with his coaching style. Fine. But he didn’t say anything wrong. And booing him for a “no comment” comment is absolutely shameful. Hope he gets his game back and gets back to his elite game that he has shown to have in the past with a coach he’s played under before

I think that is the reason Buffalo is so bad at home. They are lambasted by the crowd almost instantly, and it's partly the 14 years of failure, partly poor play, but when you lose that crowd they will let you know for the rest of the night. I'm only familiar with hockey within the last two years or so, and this situation kind of feels similar to the Bruce Cassidy firing in Boston. The coach brought success in his term and endeared themself to the fanbase, but the coaching change showed that he wasn't a fit for the players in the room. The main difference between the situations is that all of the players wished Cassidy well and they mutually parted, while this situation seems to be more of a weight off the back of the locker room in St. Louis. If anyone is "at fault," I don't think it would be the coach or players, because different rosters need different staffs and some coaches work well in some situations while working poorly in others. I think the media polarizing the situation so as to put the blame on someone is rough, though

Heck, as a Blues fan myself I've been frustrated with Kyrou's inconsistency and lack of commitment to playing defense but the booing was embarrassing. The fans I think were right to boo him, let him know your not going to put up with that "I can do no wrong" spoiled brat mentality.. be a man and take responsibility or at least your share of.

lifelong blues fan- anyone who boo'd kyrou isnt a real fan of the note. i dont like chief being gone either. i think most of the blame is lying at army's feet here, but lets face it the dude isnt going to fire himself.

Another lifelong Blues fan, strongly disagree. Berube is a legend here and just bc y’all didn’t get along isn’t reason to shade him like that. Kyrou earned some boos, I’d say booing him the entire game was excessive but he came across as entitled since his lackluster play is part of the reason Chief is gone in the first place

They made the man cry. As a Hawks fan and a rival of the Blues, I already hate the Blues enough. Yes I understand that that’s not really normal attitude for a coach getting fired. But cmon Blues fans, you booed him enough to make him cry. I feel like this could be like the Trea Turner thing where that really popular Phillies fan told the fans to give him a standing ovation, it may not happen but either way this is pretty disrespectful to JK and just give him a break Blues fans

The people who booed represent the trash of St. Louis. I didn't expect that at all because St. Louis has always been a great sports city but booing Kyrou for trying to avoid a controversial question and not giving the perfect answer on the spot just shows how dumb and toxic people still are.

Ashamed????????? Of boo'ing?? His play is trash. Hes one of the highest contracts on the team. He cant play a lick of defense. And his coach gets fired because of his (and others) lack of effort. Management isnt going to trade him. So why not boo him??? Its not like they threw stuff at him. .... were they supposed to cheer???? What a brainless comment for a video title.

I dunno, I can see why the fans would be pissed even if they definitely took it too far. I understand him feeling bad about it, but he tried to dodge a completely normal interview question and put his foot in his mouth in the process, that's on him not the fans. Maybe he should've used a couple grand of that $8m contract on a media coach.

Every fanbase should do their best to somehow find the family brain cell, and realise that if you boo your own team, it goes bad. Why do you think a Canadian team is never going to the win the cup again? 🙄

It's obvious Berube lost the locker room awhile ago. Remember Thomas spoke out against him too last season. A change needed to be made and I dont think Kyrou's comments were out of line. Big L by the Blues fans. Hope Kyrou gets traded and he begins popping off elsewhere. He is rotting in St.Louis.

Actions have consequences. If he had only said, I have no comment sorry... instead of "he's not my coach anymore", Kyrou wouldn't have drawn the ire of the Blues fans. I don't buy into this at all. He's a big boy playing in the big boys league. Stop acting like a child.

Saw your take. Kyrou screwed up. He said so much without saying a thing. I listen to local sports radio and his play has been a subject of discussion regularly. He could have said we didn't see eye to eye, I feel sorry for his firing but we as a team have to move on and get better or he could have said Berube did what he thought was right, but we have to look at each other and ask how we can be better. Instead, he spoke volumes with "No comment. He's not my coach anymore". As for why the fans booed. The last time I looked, they paid good money to cheer or boo whoever they want. Berube was loved in the STL because he brought a cup after 50+ of failure even after many years when the Blues had the best record in the league and Berube did that after taking over a team that was in last place at the time. Jordan needs to grow up and learn from this and realize that the ices extends back towards his own net.

Perhaps he shouldn't have left the "he's not my coach anymore" part, because to me, that's what triggered all this bs. You got people now reading too much into what he said there to perceive it as "Oh, so he's *happy* to see him get fired." If it was a simple "no comment" to get the media vultures off his back, the fans probably wouldn't have come on him so hard. That said, I'm not defending the fans here. Just saying
