In this video I share the four agreements that make our marriage work, but different couples make different agreements in their relationship. Think of it like your 3-5 commandments for your specific commitment. I'm interested in exploring how different couple's prioritize what being together looks like in success. For example some couple's may prioritize: a relationship with God, sexual exclusivity, quality time, and shared community involvement while others may prioritize: individual growth, even distribution of responsibilities, minimal drama, and playfulness. There are no wrong answers, but definitely the more specific the better (e.g. don't say we value communication, respect, trust, and love - provide specific actions/ roles/ categories within those that you value the most).

1. own your shit/be accountable the first* time an issue is brought up 2. witness each other's pain (comfort each other) and joy (celebrate one another) 3. commit to communicating before building negative responses to each other 4. commit to feed the relationship sex, play and quality time even when life tries to get in the way

Everything you said about fondness is brilliant. I’m going with 1) faith, 2) purpose, 3) kindness and 4) affirmation. What I consider kindness has a lot to do with what you called respect. Really love thinking about this, will ask my husband what he thinks so we can…agree hehe 😂

I actually don’t think my husband and I would have 4 agreements that align 🤔. We might say we have similar things that we think are important or value but I am thinking about it now practically and I can’t say we would agree.
